This review is a placeholder and will be updated at the end of this weekend. Review so far is based on the amazing communication with this location. We are a military family and with my husband's recent Army training, our time away together has been limited. I did a lot of searching to find a fun location to visit and the Amethyst Inn came up. I was in touch with their owners And the gentleman I spoke with was extremely helpful. Not only are we booked for Valentine's weekend in the Ruby Room, but I have recommendations for local places to eat, we have been told we can make the place our home while we are there, including using the dining room table to play board games if we would like, and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing what the property looks like. One of the things that I already appreciate is that breakfast is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Amethyst. It is a nice timeframe that we don't have to get up super early on our getaway. More to follow.

Dining area with plenty of room (and a piano)

A wonderful stay all around! We had a fantastic stay at the Amethyst Inn in Adamstown, PA. The whole place was quaint, homey, and very comforting. The Cobalt Room was spacious and clean, which made our stay feel especially pleasant. You definitely get your money's worth when you stay here. The managers were beyond kind and accommodating and made sure that we felt comfortable and tended to the entire time. Breakfast was delicious and served fresh in the morning. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it as a great spot to lodge in while you are in Lancaster County. The fact that the Amethyst Inn is also located in the Antiques Capital of the United States is also an unexpected and pretty cool fact!

My husband and I stay in the Amber room for Valentines Day and the day after. It was our first time at a B&B and we loved it. It's a charming, cozy place. Perfect for a romantic getaway. Allie the owner is a sweetheart. She is very attentive and makes you feel right at home. When we arrived to our room she had delicious cupcakes, chocolates, a card and a balloon there for us. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Walk in shower, with a seat... Also this room is very handicap accessible

I have to give this place 5 stars! My husband and I were looking for something to do for our anniversary and my boss recommended this place (she has been here multiple times over the years). This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast, and I was so happy. Jackson the innkeeper/owner is a sweetheart and very friendly. He goes into detail about the house, he's informed about the area, and with so many places to go antique shopping that's extremely helpful. He made an amazing Irish breakfast for us (which thankfully was at 9am and not the ass crack of dawn like 6am). He also let's you do your own thing kind of and not buzzing right next to you. This has the perfect comfort of a home and every room has its own personality. This is not The Plaza, this is a "shared home for guests", which is exactly what I wanted, I want to be able to go to the fridge and grab some milk or tea at 2 am, like I can do at home. The ruby suite was perfect for us, the bed is so comfortable, the jacuzzi is a dream, the fireplaces in both rooms are working and make it so nice and toasty. The bathroom shower is huge, you have a flat screen TV with cable, your own entrance fromt he parking lot so you don't have to lug all your stuff through the place. Also we came on a Saturday afternoon and since nobody was checking into our room after us on Sunday he let us have a "very late check-out" lol. I can't say enough good things about this place! Definitely will be coming back at least once a season!

First disappointing visit after 23 years of going here. Some of the amenities we were used to with prior owners were missing but that wasn't the biggest deal. When we returned to our room for our second night there, we noticed that our room had not been tidied, bed not made, towels not straightened or replaced. This had ALWAYS been done in the past. I called owner Jackson thinking it was an oversight. He was defensive, said they don't clean room for short stays, and accused me of TALKING DOWN to him. The following morning at breakfast, he ignored my husband and me (clearly not the way to run a successful service oriented business). His partner, ex-wife, Ally, was lovely though. We privately explained to her what transpired and she was appropriately apologetic. Quite frankly, Jackson's attitude was much more troublesome than the fact that our room wasn't cleaned. At the very least, he should have advised us in advance of the change in policy, and as the business owner, he should have tried to make things right. Instead, he deemed it appropriate to ignore paying customers the following morning. I assume that others are noting the change in the level of service, as this was the first time in the all the years that we have been coming there, that the Inn was not sold out on an autumn UPDATE - After posting my review, owner Jackson began harassing me via email. SO DISTURBING. Photo of one of emails is below

First off, how cool is a purple B&B?!? I think one of the big reasons as to why my boyfriend booked us a room here was because my birthstone is Amethyst, and my fave color is purple! We stayed here at the end of November for our one year anniversary... Kind of like a stay-cation! All of the staff were super friendly, and were accommodating. We stayed in the jade room, which had the comfiest tempurpedic bed I've ever slept in, a cozy little fireplace, and jacuzzi tub! The next morning we were served a delicious breakfast (photos included) that came out in courses. Will definitely be returning! Thanks for the relaxing stay.

On vacation in Lancaster we were looking for a b&b and this was a good selection. The location is a little off to the middle of nowhere but the food is amazing, the service is excellent, and the house and the room were charm central! Minus a star for location being confusing for out of townies.

I found the Adamstown Inn online, and it was reasonably priced, the photos didn't look like Great Aunt Gertrude's parlor, and every room had an en-suite fireplace (my one stipulation). We stayed 2 nights in the Topaz room at the Amethyst Inn. It was amazing. The Amethyst Inn is a big, old (but beautifully maintained) Victorian home, converted into the Inn. Our room was equal parts Victoriana (joie de vie wallpaper and a very ornate cast iron fireplace) and Country - beautiful antique oak furniture. The queen sized featherbed was luxurious and we slept like babies. The bathroom was updated, immaculate and the jacuzzi was amazing. Breakfast was to die for. Four courses each morning of fantastic, unique home cooked goodness. Everything was so fresh and amazing. Their coffee was great (and endless) as well! The staff was wonderful and warm, but not intrusive. They were incredibly thoughtful. Every day there was a small gift waiting for us on the bed, and when we left they gave us snacks for the road! It snowed overnight the 2nd night, and they even cleaned our car off for us before we woke up. This place is first rate, gourmet, beautifully decorated and it is a wonderful respite away from Philadelphia. We, much like The Terminator, will be back.

Don't get me wrong, the grounds are nice as well, but we were usually stuck by the pool I have been trying to drag all my friends with kids to Sue's place since my friend and I discovered back in Oct (?). It is just a wonderful place to come to. The B&B is a house with 4 rooms (5th as an add-on to another one only) and a enclosed pool area that has picnic seating and lounge chairs, hot tub and entry lounge area with a dining table that we used to eat dinners and lunches by the pool. The rooms were pretty quiet - the downstairs one is ADA compliant and ok for pets, but we loved this room most because it was open to the pool area. Just keep in mind that this room tends to run colder than the other 3 rooms in the house for those of you who are sensitive to the cold. Above the pool-side room is what I like to call "honeymoon suite" it has a nice bed area with deck overlooking the pool and upstairs bathroom (i didnt get to try all those fancy buttons on the whirlpool tub, but I did end up having a tri-head shower along the way) The other 2 rooms are smaller, but one has an en-suite and the other has the hall bath with the option to book the room next to it for bigger parties. Do you know what else is nice? Sue leaves the Netflix and Amazon logged in on the TVs - I did not have to go through the annoying task of loading all of my accounts on and trying to remember to log-off when I was leaving. It is a really nice touch. Let's move on to my favorite part - THE FOOD. Holy smokes Sue can cook. Sure, I love her fancier meals, but the more homestyle, comfy ones area just... wow. I feel about 3x bigger just saying this. She will keep feeding you if you are still hungry (Don't judge.. I did get seconds almost EVERY time). She has a little refrigerator and though to stock it with drinks (who ever remembers to bring bottle water anyway?) and freezer with ice cream (the kids went nuts). Sue also leaves out the Keurig and a baked good on the table so you can help yourself to your ever expanding waistline as you relax in this quiet little retreat. I've been to some of the most incredible B&Bs (stuffy and not quite-so), but as nice as those were, I felt like I could put my hair down, relax with the kids, and just ENJOY my time with them as the pandemic raged on outside what felt like "home" to me. GO...and keep going (but not when I go - jk). Eat, swim, stroll the grounds, sleep...and just RELAX and let Sue handle everything - she's made for this
