Amersham is really a town with two very different halves. The main shopping area is in 'Amersham on the hill' and consists largely of small versions of the shops you find everywhere, Boots, Marks's food, Woolworths, Clarks, Tesco metro etc.Not very inspiring but with High Wycombe a 6 or 7 mile journey away it will often suffice for basic needs. There is a smattering of gift shops and a couple of family businesses and also a tiny market ,which closes Sycamore road on a Tuesday.
Amersham Old town on the other hand has beautiful architecture and that lovely historic feel.It has links right back to 'the Domesday book'. Not really an area for 'shopping' per se but some of these lovely buildings house up market fashion boutiques and better eateries. There are some lovely old pubs here too. read more
