I like the windows, but the experience of working with their sales people was disappointing. I felt manipulated by both the kids who came to my door - which I dismissed as inexperience. When the sales person came, I liked him personally but felt like I'd just been visited by a used car dealer who wouldn't take no for an answer. When we finally did sign up, we were told we'd have 12-months no interest - I got the bill yesterday and sure enough, there are interest charges on there. He also said he'd be onsite the day of install. Nope. Finally, I was forced to fill out the satisfaction survey in front of the installer. When I wrote on the form that I'd prefer that the company call me to discuss, he confronted me about whether I was happy with his work. Who has the person performing the work do the survey? Really, Ameritech? A close relative was coerced and belittled till they signed on the dotted line. The salesman wouldn't give up for 6 hrs and wouldn't leave. This relative needed only one window, yet they felt they were forced to buy not only the one they needed and could afford, but also another unit. They chose not to install the other because the one they had was fine. Could they get a refund on that installation fee? NOPE! When they posted a bad review here on Yelp, they were told to remove it or get sued. Say, what? Everyone they have talked to at Ameritech has been extremely rude (Yup, they recorded a couple conversations and I can verify this as a true fact.). Ameritech, take some responsibility for your unbusinesslike actions and do the right thing. read more

On the one hand, these guys will do evening appointments. On the other hand, they will not send anyone out for a "free estimate" unless all homeowners are present and you're prepared to make a decision immediately. I can't speak as to the quality of their products or services, because listen to what happened just trying to set an appointment: After speaking with and meeting with representatives from their competitors...like Champion...it's almost like these guys don't want your business. As in most households, it's me that typically does all the legwork and then present the options and my recomedations to my significant other so we can make a decision together. I have to say, if you don't sell me on your service or product, you'll never get my vote. Also, since I work from home and my man works in an office (AND is out of state 50% of the time), the last thing he wants to do when he gets home is sit through sales spiels. Why would we waste both of our valuable minutes in order to get a quote? Anyhow, unless you can work within their requirements, I'd keep looking. We got very competitive bids from other companies. These guys were rude and didn't seem to need the business...and quite frankly, I like to be treated like an important customer. 2/11/2013: UPDATE Today I received a message from the owner, following up and apologizing for my bad experience. While he mentions their policies on having any potential decision makers present has not changed, he did make a heartfelt appeal. OK, two and a half years later, but I still appreciate it. While my experience is what it is, I encourage all of you wonderful Yelp readers to make your own decisions and give every business a fair chance - things can change a lot in 2 1/2 years. read more

I have been considering installing esheild in my attic, but they will not give me an estimate unless my wife is present. I guess they feel I am not capable of making my own decisions. They had a canvass come to my door to solicit this product. Half hour before the appointment Ameritec called to confirm the appointment, but refused to honer the appointment since my wife was not going to make it. When I questioned the policy the person on the phone became rude instead of helpful. He hung up, so I had to call back to find out if they were going to come to the appointment, so he said they would not. I have never experienced such treatment. Learn from all the other reviews! Ironically the sales guy mentioned all of the negative reviews and said they were because of price.. nope. I actually think they have a good product and was willing to pay their price. We entered into contract. The contract is supposed to give you a 3 day window to cancel or move forward with payment. I gave the sales guy a check with that contract. Well.. came to find out the business opened a line of credit in my name prior to my three days and without telling me! I also never got the check back! We ended up buying windows through another company and the owner was horrified to find out they had already opened an account - said that wasn't legal. Also their office people are remarkable rude (although I will say the sales guy was a nice). Be forewarned before you get into your 3 day cancellation period that this company makes it as hard as possible to cancel the contract. I've been a home owner for a while.. so there has been an occasion where we've had to cancel a contract before. It was as straight forward as you'd expect.. you can email, fax, mail, drop-it-off, etc. Not with this company. They told us our only option to cancel was to drop-it-off personally at their Boulder office which had limited hours. My husband had to take off work to do it. Any company that behaves that way isn't worth your business. I've heard that the next thing they will do is threaten me with a lawsuit if I don't remove the review. Unfortunately for them, you can still see from the bank's perspective that they are company who opened the line of credit even though I bought nothing through them. The salesman had to follow a several hour script. I had the measurement for every window but the salesman had to measure each window. When measuring he told us he could just estimate because they would remeasure. He just wanted to tell us how bad our windows, I knew they were bad I was looking at replacing the windows. After almost 2 hours and still nothing about money just sales pitch I told him to leave. By the way he broke my towel rod in the bathroom. read more

I placed an order for a storm door, as well as an egress window, contingent on my finding someone to dig the hole for the egress, for under $2,500. Ameritech explained they could not dig the hole themselves for such a small order. Life caught up with me, and I did not have the time or energy to arrange for someone to do the dig, so several weeks later I contacted Ameritech and asked them if I also had a replacement sliding glass door ordered and installed, would they agree to dig the hole for the egress window themselves. At that time, they agreed to do so. From the initial order being placed to the final window being installed, over six months passed. Certainly the egress window installation was understandable as the ground was hard during the cold months, but I did not get the sliding glass doors or the storm door installed any earlier either. I was given one price by the salesman for the completion of the entire job, and was then told, several weeks later, over the phone, by the salesman, that the price I was given was incorrect, and had been given to me in error. I was asked to sign an updated contract, which I did, with some reluctance. I continued to wait for a date of installation, and eventually needed to call the manager and request a specific date be set. The installers of the storm door and the sliding glass door were very polite and efficient. The product is fabulous, with great security features, and attractive appearance. I love the quality of the doors/windows. The installation was sound, although as I review my review, many months after the initial write, I must add the front screen door is not hanging straight anymore, allowing air to come in through the top. I would contact Ameritech Construction Corp regarding this issue, because the work is guaranteed, but my communications with the managers of this company was experienced as extremely unpleasant, leaving me with no desire to ever interact with them again. The few I spoke with came across to me as very difficult, at times aggressive (Scott), and overall very unreasonable. In my original review, I described the details of the interactions I had with management, and later received a telephone call from Scott telling me I needed to remove my review. At the time of his call, I was driving, after having just helped my dog across rainbow bridge; I expressed this to him, and stated I was not in a place to have this conversation with him just then. He continued to rapidly bombard me with his perceptions of how wonderful they were and how unreasonable I was, not letting me get a word in edgewise, until I finally hung up on him. He called back, leaving me a voice message in a similar, although more level tone, directing me to take down my review that day, or else. So, although the product is excellent, and the head installer, Don, was absolutely fabulous - very polite and friendly, listening to my concerns and working with me to address them (Don even bought a new post for my fence because he said the old post was in poor condition) - I was not pleased, and was actually taken-aback by, and frustrated by, what I perceived to be a very negative tone expressed by the management personnel with whom I communicated...so much so, that I do not wish to speak with Ameritech Construction Corp again, and will likely not hold them to their guarantee of satisfaction. read more

High pressure sales from the presentation. I don't like to make decisions without evaluating options. Had 1 slider door and 1 window put in. Window is ok, but slider has had issues since day 1 (granted it has been a few years now). The slider was put in in the winter. On really cold days it does not seal properly. The installers told me that once the door settled it would be fine. It still isn't on cold days. The lock is also broke. They fixed it once. The lock broke again and they said it would cost me to fix it even though it should have been under warranty. And that is when someone has called me back. They did call to see if I wanted to order more windows. I will not be spending more money with them. I don't recommend wasting your time with them. read more

First of all was asked on the phone if my spouse would be available for the estimate, nice assumption making on their part. Not everyone automatically has a spouse. I also asked on the phone of they carried numerous brands, to choose from. They said yes. Turns out they only offer one brand of window. The estimate meeting was very very strange. I was told by the guy that if I was planning on selling my house soon he wouldn't want to sell me their windows as builder grade would suffice. Um okay, so you don't want a sale because of I might sell my house?? He also babbled on and on and on reading to me from clipped articles like it was story time at the library for pre schoolers. And the examples of how the windows work with heat lamps etc... Yeah I get it. My old windows are junk, hence why I am buying new windows. You don't need to explain this to me. He finally packed up and left after an hour without giving me and estimate because "I was being difficult." Seems I wouldn't have taken good enough care of their poor delicate little windows. read more

Tried to get my kid ready for bed and he insisted I had to listen to his whole sealed pitch even though my husband (a phd scientist) was there to listen and relay info to me. We just got our windows installed last week by this great company and are very impressed by the installers. I can't believe how much light is reflected off the windows! ! Jake is a great salesman to have on this company. The windows make our townhouse look 100 percent modern. We signed up for a meeting that was supposed to be 60 to 90 minutes long and things started out alright. Their product is amazing and I love it. The sales people completely turned us off and lost us as customers because of their terrible sales techniques. We started the meeting off informing the person that right now we do not have the financing to afford anything. At two and a half hours we told the sales person that we needed to wrap this up as it was after 9 o'clock and approaching our bedtime and we both have to work in the morning. She continued to push that we had to see the whole booklet. We were holding our heads in our hands and sighing repeatedly and she never seemed to pick up on it. Then when we got to see the windows and we started the price quote she continued to push us to see if we could afford anything, dropping the price continuously and dropping the down payment continuously, even though we already told her we don't have any money for this right now we're looking for a later date. At three hours of sales meeting my husband finally snapped and told her "look we're not signing anything on the first visit, we don't have the funds for it now and we're not going to commit to anything that we don't have the funds for. Thank you for your time but we are done here." The Hard Sell approaches are the best way to turn us off. it makes it seem very shady and makes us feel like you're hiding something that's why you want us to sign right now. Also a lot of the examples were smoke and mirrors even though she stated that she was trying to get rid of the smoke and mirrors. I'm sorry but the temperature of vinyl siding does not reach the temperature of a hair dryer held at it for 15 minutes. I've never not been able to touch the vinyl frames on the side of my house when it's been in the sun all day. Also twisting it is not representative for the structural stability. A window is not going to twist its frame in the way she had us twist it. Overall the sales pitch seemed like a scam, took WAY too long, and was super pushy. The product looks great but is quite expensive. $1700 a window. If they had listened to us and respected our time they would be our top choice right now. After this experience I don't want anything to do with them. read more

We recently had a new window and sliding door installed from Ameritech. The quality of the products is amazing. We had a replacement door and window from another company 8 years ago that was warped and didnt lock due to poor quality. We are so happy that Ameritech took the time to educate us on the different products out there. We would highly recommend them to anyone! read more

Honestly, I don't know what these other people are talking about. I had a fantastic experience with Ameritech. While the bid came in high compared to other companies, I was able to work with them to bring it down - quite far actually. They even have financing options, if you need it. The sales person was knowledgeable about the product and was able to explain all the features of their windows. Knowing quite a bit about construction myself, I was impressed with the quality design of the windows. The sales person even had a full scale display of the windows, and does several demonstrations with you, including how the windows operate, how well they insulate, even how well they stop sound. The windows were made to order; I have a house built in the fifties, and lets just say these weren't what we consider "standard size" nowadays. Two months after meeting with the sales person, they came and installed the windows. It took them just about 4 hours to do 7 windows in my house, the installers picked up after themselves, and hauled away the old window frames. All-in-all, a very straightforward and painless process. The windows themselves look wonderful. They've been installed for two months now, and my power bill has already dropped dramatically because of how efficient they are. The other plus is the noise - I live on a busy street right next to a firehouse, and I can't hear a thing when the windows are closed now. Definitely impressed, and I will be calling them to do any other windows I need replaced in the future. read more

I just had an estimate last night. First off, they did a fantastic job of presenting their product. It clearly is a very high quality product, and seemingly would sell itself. The 40 year warranty that is transferable is very appealing. The benefits of the triple pane windows and they way they demonstrate with a heat lamp are impressive. What was not impressive is the runaround on the actual estimate. I am just starting to research and get estimates. I don't feel like they gave me a clear estimate, and would not give me a formal paper estimate on company documents, which seemed odd. Why not? I'm a serious buyer, looking for a quality product. Unless I was willing to sign a contract then and there, the seemed to have no interest in gaining my business in the near future. It was one price if I signed on that first appointment, but would go up quite a bit if I waited for 30 days, and still more if I had the work done within the year. Giving three prices, miles apart for an estimate was very off putting. They clearly have an excellent product, so why not give a hard copy estimate, ONE Price, that is a fair price. The estimate was $2,000.00 a window. The sales rep, Grace, was wonderful. She explained the benefits of their product, vs. competition and was very convincing. I was so put off being asked to "guess" what I thought the estimate would be (felt like being on a car lot), and then being presented three different prices. I'm still very attracted to the product and quality, it's just a shame that they use these tactics. I believe if they presented one fair and honest price without all the runaround, they'd do much better at gaining business. I still may go with this product, but the sales techniques are bad . My review of two stars is solely based on the sales methods (not a reflection of Grace, the rep, or the product). If they gave you a one hour sales pitch without all the fluff, they'd be a much better company. I'm sure the product would get five stars. read more

We had a college student knock on our door asking us if we wanted a free estimate for our window repair. We had a cracked window so we thought sure and scheduled the appointment. The sales rep came to our house at 6 PM and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the product. We were impressed with the product and excited about using this company. The issue is that the sales rep spent 4 hours at our house. I tried to make hints that we needed to wrap up the visit, but he didn't take the hint. He spent a lot of time showing us examples of poor work from other companies. It felt like overkill. When it came time to talk money, he started pushing the sale on us. I wanted to have some time to discuss the windows rather than commit on the spot to such a large purchase. The sales rep told us if we didn't say yes tonight, our cost would increase by 20%. He said I was wouldn't say yes "because I was scared and I probably had credit issues" I have never felt more pressure by a sales rep and I think it is crazy that he wouldn't support us taking a few days to decide what we could afford and how to pay for the windows. He would not let up and kept trying to push the sale on us over and over again. Like I said, I loved the product and all the evaluations of the windows and install seem to be great, but the sales person turned us off. After 4 hours I was annoyed, and exhausted and pissed off. He ended up leaving our house in a huff and was obviously upset with us. I would not recommend this company based on our experience with the "free estimate" Very unprofessional in my opinion.. read more

Today, "Addison" rang my doorbell and banged on my door repeatedly while I was on a conference call. STOP the leaflets and door banging. I was reading some of the reviews and felt I should share my experience that we had just a few minutes ago. First I would like to say that my boyfriend has a hard time being rude, but we don't have the funds right now to replace windows and there are quite a few in our new townhouse. We were interested in an estimate just to see what we would roughly have to save up in order to do our windows. There were phone calls every day for a long time to schedule a meeting. Then it switched to once a week. Then once a month. Then, they started calling on restricted. What kind of good company can they really be if they are calling on restricted? My boyfriend tried pushing them off and telling them that he doesn't have the time for a meeting, and that he doesn't have the money, and even said I will call you when I am ready, and not right now, but they apparently do not understand that. We finally made a 7 o clock appt a few weeks back and they stood us up. That was the final chance we were willing to give them and they blew it. This morning we had an appt at 10 and we really made the appt so they would leave us alone. We missed a call so I called back. I have to be the mean one when it comes to times like these, and I spoke to Will. He was polite in the sense that you could tell he was pissed off and rude with everything he said. I told him that I didn't like that they were continuously calling and he said "let me just stop you right there" that because my boyfriend never said no that that is why they continued, but I was with my boyfriend on several occasions that he said "not right now, I will call you when I am ready" but I told him that maybe it was because they didn't get the hint. I told him that we wanted to cancel the 10 am appt and said bye and hung up. They are not professional at all and if they call us again I will be filing for harassment. So if Will happens to read this, that is not a hint, and I will file. read more

We have been through the replacement window sales pitch before by another Denver area contractor and ended up purchasing a poor quality product and experiencing a subpar installation which has caused damage to our house. We decided to have Ameritech out to discuss replacing these previously replaced windows as well as replacing the remaining windows of our house. Over the phone I indicated that I did not want to sit through a sales presentation via flipping through every page of a binder as well as explained our situation. The person indicated on the phone that he would let the sales person know and said the appointment would last between 60 and 90 minutes. Our appointment was for Weds at 7pm. The sales person, Allen, showed up on time. Indicating we did not want a presentation from a binder to him and describing our situation he preceded to setup his presentation and started presenting from a binder. After about 2.5 hours of going through the binder and various demonstrations we went around the house and measured. As a previously uninformed consumer of replacement windows, I wanted additional information before signing on the dotted line and making a decision to spend tens of thousands of dollars. No decision like this should have to be made on the spot. I wanted to better understand the installation process and what challenges may be encountered because of the damage the previously installed windows caused as well as understand how Ameritech's Installation process and product can overcome the issues previously experienced. A sales person cannot answer this information (the only thing they can say is we have been doing this 'x' number of years), and I wanted to meet with an experienced installer to understand more about the process and how the product is secured and sealed to the house rather than making the same mistake twice. Unfortunately, this is not an option. In order to meet with an expert, I had to purchase at least three windows and then the installer/expert would come out and review my situation and explain the options. They are only concerned about getting the sale that evening and offering approximately a 25% discount off the initial quote given to try and get you to sign on the dotted line, rather than allowing the consumer the time to make an educated decision. They did not even leave a quote nor any literature about the product to make such decisions. At about 10:30 Allen left. This was perhaps the worst sales experience I have dealt with. read more

I had my new windows and sliding door installed yesterday, first of all my sales consultant listened to what I wanted! I consulted with three companies and when you call ASK for Jake Savageau he is awesome!! My windows are beautiful and perfect thanks to Brad and Mark, my project managers and installers, they did an A++++ job and left my house in perfect condition! I can't say enough about my windows. I just finished my 3rd and final order. The quality of the windows are incredible. But the installation was even better. They were so careful to not mess up my house. They were polite and true professionals. It seems that the people on yelp who gave negative reviews never had the work done by Ameritech. Ameritech is awesome!! This is the second home in which I have replaced all the windows - and added a sliding door to this house. Throughout the whole process Ameritech was professional and clearly have the best product out there. Remember - if you are replacing windows, anything you put in is going to be an upgrade from the previous window. Compared to the last house's new windows (from a large reputable dealer), Ameritech windows are definitely a step UP!! The initial contact was from a college student - not the best promoter out there - but once the presentation started the rest of the process was TOP NOTCH!! Please do your homework and give Ameritech a shot. I highly recommend Ameritech windows, Jake (who should just change his middle name to "customer service guru") and the installation team. March 25, 2015 I recently moved to Colorado for a job promotion. I purchased a home . Within 3 weeks someone knocked on my door about new windows and doors. I live in a covenant controlled neighborhood with a sign posted at the front entrance "No Soliciting". But, having no experience in this situation I listened to the young man's speech. He was working for a company called Ameritech Construction from Boulder. Knowing I needed a storm door and new patio doors I made an appointment. Two weeks later Scott was at my door. He breezed in and promised me "the world". He stated he was worried about my safety as it had looked like the patio door had been damaged. He quoted a price, which seemed extreme, so I called my brother for advice. While dialing Scott discouraged me by saying "well you know he will just try and talk you out of it". My brother didn't but he told me the price was a little high so Scott lowered the price by a couple hundred dollars. I then asked about time, he stated that it would be less than 90 days but that is the amount of time he would put on the contract. He was full of promises and sales pitch and asked me no less than 10 times if I was the sole owner of my home. I wrote him a check for 1/3 of the amount, as they don't take credit cards and he left. This was December 5, 2014. A man named Don came out on the 12th and measured for the doors. The first week of February I called Ameritech as I hadn't heard a word from them. I spoke with a man named Ron and he had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. He then relayed my message on to Brian. Brian phoned me and asked me who I was and what I was calling about, he was very short and extremely confrontational. He finally found my paperwork and informed me my doors had not even come in yet. I was shocked as I was told by Scott that the doors would be installed in less than 90 days and we had just passed the 60 day mark. I tried to ask Brian about this but was berated and basically hung up on. The day before the 90 days was expired I received a call from Ron and was asked when he could schedule my installation, I told him there would be no scheduling as the 90 days were up tomorrow and I would like my deposit returned. He immediately stated he would have Brian call me. Scott called a couple hours later and yelled and screamed at me about how could I do this and the 90 days didn't mean anything and gave me a number of lame excuses about weather and family issues and not having the paperwork due to the fact he was home. I told him they were excuses and I wanted my deposit back. Several hours later Brian called, I understand he is the owner of the business. He screamed, yelled, called me names, insulted me and threatened me. I finally gave in and let them come and install the doors. The installation crew of Don, Brad and Mark were marvelous. They were courteous, professional and did an extraordinary job. They apologized profusely for what I had been through after I told them. And again I had to write a check for the remainder as they don't accept credit cards. In going through this process and visiting with their competition and other contractors I have learned that I paid twice what other companies would have charged. I was duped and mis-led. This was an expensive lesson, one that I will not repeat and have learned a great deal from. If anyone chooses to let this company into your home for a quote, get everything in writing and even record the conversation as they will promise anything for the sale, but have no plans to carry out the bargain. And read their contract thoroughly, as mine said 90 days, but they would not honor it. read more

We purchased 2 Oxford windows and the windows are nice however it was a long unpleasant process getting them installed. We originally wanted 4 windows but found out due to the building codes in Arapahoe County they could not install the proposed basement windows. We initially ordered the windows on 10/9/14 the windows were finally installed 2/2/15 but one of the windows was scratched and we were told they would get a replacement window for us. We did the financing with them and were told at the time that we would not be billed until we were completely satisfied. So we were surprised when we got our financing credit card with the charge in full when we had not heard from anyone about the replacement and had not authorized the final charge. I called and spoke to Ron who told me that they were having problems with their manufacturer and had received several defective products (ie our scratched window, dented doors etc.) and our window would be repaired as a warranty issue but all charges were due now. I asked when the window would be replaced and was told 8 to 10 weeks. I explained that I had been told I wouldn't be charged until I was completely satisfied. At that point Ron told me I was lucky they did the job because they had a 3 window minimum and he had driven all the way from Boulder to Arapahoe county to talk to Arapahoe Building Department about their codes regarding the basement windows and also the financing had already funded the charge, so too bad for me and I was given incorrect information about being satisfied prior to final payment. At which point he started yelling at me and hung up on me. I was afraid to post this review until the scratched window was replaced - 5/27/15 the scratched window was finally replaced! read more

It's too bad all of the positive reviews for this company are hidden. We had our in home demonstration, sales pitch, today and I cannot believe all of the bad reviews. First, I was told when I made my appointment that all home owners, or those with input, need to be present. I was told again when they arrived this morning that all should be present and they would be happy to come back another time if they were not. No problem here because I already knew this was an expectation they had and request they made when I setup my appointment. Although I only expected them to be there for 60-90 minutes we had them in our home close to four hours. I actually felt like I was taking up too much of their time and apologized in case they were late for another appointment. We had a good experience because I knew what to expect. I knew this was a salesman coming to my home to sell me a product. I knew it was his job to try and convince me. I actually called him a car salesman (and sorry if I offended you) but I knew what they were coming into my home to do. So I have zero complaints about them or the process. We haven't had the windows installed yet but I write this review knowing that the only bad reviews here are of the door to door reps, or in home demonstrators, for doing the job you invited them in for. None are of the actual product itself. read more
