These swindlers advertise that they offer remote starters starting at $99 but they tack on miscelaneous fees, do bad wiring and they do not stand behind their work!
My first sign that I had made a mistake was that my bill had an unexplained $8 fee tacked on. But then I noticed that my dashboard lights were flashing on and off as I went over bumps in the road, making it impossible to see how fast I'm driving at night. The manager invited me to bring my car back so they could check it out, said that I could "bring it in anytime" as they would "treat it as a priority" because of my situation.
Sounds like an honest mistake on it's way to being fixed?
I happened to call on a Saturday before heading out and the guy who answered said that they're just too busy and I should make an appointment. No longer being "a priority," I made an appointment. But when I showed up, their mechanic met me in the parking lot and told me that they couldn't possibly have caused the issue, that I was wasting my time - even though they would look at it if I really insisted - but it would be a total waste of time. He was laying it on a little thick, so I went in and talked to yet another manager, who gave me the same dripping sarcasm about wasting my time and that it can't be their fault. Again, says they wooooouuuuld look at it but it would surely be a total waste of time. Basically said everything that they could say short of, "Get out of here, stupid customer!"
So I took it to a real mechanic, who immediately found that the problem was related to Ameristar's installation and noted that the wiring work that they did was really poor.
I called back and Ameristar's alleged owner immediately got confrontational, started twisting words and telling me that I lied to him, pointed out (for no reason but to be a jerk) that I shouldn't have called them on a Saturday, and refused to take an responsibility. I told him that it would cost less to just pay my mechanics bill instead of losing business from BBB complaints and bad reviews. But he seemed quite satisfied that they would get away with damaging my car with their ameturish work.
So if you're reading this, it's quite simple. The owner of Ameristar doesn't want your business. Go somewhere else! read more
