De-prioritization of physical activity. You have to put your child in an after school club (more money) for dance, bowling, and other movement-based activities. I had the opportunity to volunteer to help with hot lunch once. I learned a lot. Like just how short lunch is; it explained why my daughter was hungry but had uneaten food in her lunch last semester. Volunteering has opened my eyes and I started packing her lunches a little differently 2. It's a charter school so they have to raise money. However, the fundraiser updates in the app are ridiculous. Class vs class, grade vs grade. Everyone hurry and donate before the deadline...use the AZ tax credit...oh the deadline has been extended so you can donate more (no surprise) None of the issues I mentioned are major to me. Why? Because my kindergartener is reading, can read digital and analog clocks, she can add double-digit numbers, etc but her friends who are in 1st and 2nd grade in TUSD schools aren't there yet. I was told to rely on his communication notebook, but felt that wasn't enough given the circumstances. Near the end of the final trimester, I was informed that my son was at risk of failing math. I was frustrated because this was the first time I had been made aware that he was struggling. I was told there had not been any concerns before then and that he should begin attending student hours. Earlier communication (in addition to seeing some poor grades in cj which only suggested that we implement new study habits) would have allowed us to address the issue before it became so serious. Parent teacher conferences were unhelpful. Unfortunately, attending student hours was also challenging. If a student arrives even a FEW minutes late, they are not permitted to join because it would "disrupt" the ongoing session. The morning drop-off procedures can be difficult to navigate, as the gates are opened on a very strict schedule. On one occasion, I had to park and walk my son into school before 7:30 a.m., and by the time we reached student hours we were only a couple of minutes late. He was not allowed to attend. Ironically, had it been 7:31 a.m., I could have used the drive-through drop-off instead but would have been late to student hours. There were also several school policies that made the experience more difficult for our family. Students were not allowed to play tag on the playground, school lunches were not provided, and the after-school program was very costly even with scholarship.

The bully is allowed to continue without consequences and the victims are left to feel unsafe and some students have been removed by parents because of it. The school policies state that bullying is not tollerated; however, Central refuses to take corrective action and protects those doing the bullying over the victims. This leaves me to think that the bullies are related to some staff OR the campus just simply doesn't care. The victim is left feeling unsafe in an environment that should be and it leaves the bully not having any consequences to learn that this violent behavior is dangerous. The stance Central is taking is only serving the purpose of grooming future violence we see all to many times on the news. If you want your child to attend Leman Academy of Excellence choose another campus but stay far away from Central for your child's sake.

This school is known to discriminate against students, especially their special education students and families. The staff is poorly trained and they're constantly trying to replace teachers who either quit or get fired. Their test scores are abysmal and sadly, they don't prioritize students. It's a negative, mean and cruel environment for kids to spend years in. Avoid at all costs.

First, the ladies in the front office are amazing. Throughout the years, whenever my children or I have gone through a difficult situation or needed help, they have always been understanding, caring, patient, and willing to help. I truly appreciate everything they do for the students and families. I especially want to recognize Mr. Bugg the 8th-grade Math and Science teacher. He is an incredible teacher and made a huge impact on my daughter. The knowledge and strong foundation in math that she received from him prepared her tremendously for high school. She is doing well today because of what she learned in his classroom. As a mother, I appreciate a teacher who expects students to work hard. I believe that discipline, respect, responsibility, and knowledge are important, even when it may feel challenging for the kids at the time. Mr. Bugg teaches all of these things while making sure his students truly learn and are prepared for what comes next. Not every teacher has that level of dedication and commitment. Teachers like Mr. Bugg should be recognized because they are helping shape our children's futures. Our children may not always realize it today, but one day they will understand how much a great teacher contributed to their success. I am extremely grateful that my daughter had the opportunity to be one of Mr. Bugg students. Apparently, because it was a few minutes before 7:15, the school called their mom and warned her that next time she could be charged a fee for an early drop-off. I completely understand having rules and designated supervision times, but threatening parents with a charge when there's already a crowd of students outside over a matter of a few minutes feels unnecessarily petty. A simple reminder of the policy would have been more than enough. There's a difference between enforcing a safety policy and making families feel like they're being nickel-and-dimed. The previous school our daughter attended was a Montessori school and while I think it was a great foundation I felt the elementary grades were lacking in some areas of education. Our daughter entered Casas as a 5th grader and as her first traditional school. I was nervous by the huge transition for her, but she took to it like a fish to water. The teachers, especially Mrs Ford made it easy for her by supporting her in any way she needed. She loves going to school and is doing incredibly well academically. I feel so incredibly blessed and thankful for everyone at Casas for making the transition a wonderful and happy experience for my daughter. It's evident that the staff genuinely cares about the students and their success. We will continue to attend Casas and hope a Casas High School will be available soon.

However this may be his last…read moretear at this school and here is why: ADS is participating in the AZ Merit testing metric system and they are failing at it drastically and it is not at the fault of the teachers but the testing is extremely difficult to pass. When a teacher says that your child got a D on the exam and this was one of the highest grades then something is wrong! I am involved in my son's school and went and spoke with each teacher and there was a consensus is that all the students are failing- how can the school continue to allow their students to FAIL! I am an extremely concerned parent that feels that this school is allowing our children to fail and this could drastically effect their future! The school grounds are nice and the uniform is extremely formal with blazer and tie. However again the fall at organizing the physical education class around this. In the summer months when it was 100°+ outside they had pants and a long sleeve collar shirt they participated in. Then there was an incident that occurred at the school that involved the sheriff's presence that parents we're given very little information about. And the most recent situation that occurred was a fire /gas scent incident that forced an evacuation of the school. Which I'm glad they did and they informed the parents via email. What they failed to mention is that this evacuation occurred and our children were outside in the rain! They failed to let us know that our children were soak and wet in December on one of the coldest days! The only way parents knew was if the child chose to call to get clothes brought to them. The only reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 is because I love the teachers! But they need to get organized and quick or we will be looking for another school.
