When my parents moved to Nashville in 1947, they opened an account at First American National Bank,…read morethe predecessor of Regions, so our family has banked there for 71 years. In fact, I worked for them for a few years back in the 1970s. About ten years ago my late wife's accounts were messed up a few times (I forget the details) so we moved all but one account over to Truxton Trust. We kept one checking account that I use to pay various people who work for me from time to time. I like the drive-in folks a lot - friendly and fast - and that's where I always go. I would give the place four stars except for a their inability to set up an account for a grandson. He wanted to have an account that would allow him to save money for a car and yet protect him from his self-admitted spendthrift ways! He and I went in and set up a joint account requiring both of our signatures to withdraw funds. I was assured that this wouldn't be linked to his deposit account. Guess what? It was and Grandson, desperate for funds one night, tried to withdraw a few dollars and found that he could. Soon, the $1000 saved for a car was gone and he continues to use the bus and shanks' pony to get around. I can see this loophole leading to bankruptcy, divorce, lawsuits, and more. A couple of years ago I got a several hundred dollar invoice from an insurance company for a policy on my house referring to a loan secured by the house. It turned out that 20 years ago we had put an addition on our house and gotten a line of credit to make contractor payments easier. As soon as the project was finished, we paid the loan in full and I thought no more about it. It turns out it had sat there as an open line of credit for years and someone decided the bank had no insurance protection. Rather than tell me, they just insured it and sent me the bill! TMI, as they say, but those are shortcomings through the years that keep me from a full-blown good recommendation.

They warned me that when I was no longer a student I would have to begin paying a monthly fee, but college graduation came and went with no added fees, so I thought I flew under the radar. I was not so lucky... Turns out the age that you are no longer a student by Regions' definition is 26. In March, I noticed an $8 fee drafted from my account and decided it was time to part with Regions. The gentleman who helped me close my account was very nice and did everything he could to keep me, but there was no way I could qualify for an account without a fee so I went through with it. 5 stars to him for customer service. I removed a star for the parking situation at this location. You can either valet (which I don't like to do if I can avoid it) or park in the garage in the area designated for Regions customers which is 3 stories below ground. I didn't feel safe down there!

With that being said I was looking for someone that essentially operates as a "one stop shop" for my insurance and financial needs, so I would have a few less things to worry about. Ashlee Rehbein checks off those boxes. I found working with Ms. Rehbein to be a delightful, informative, professional, and most important "no pressure" experience. She was able answer any and all questions and was prompt with responses whether it be through phone calls or emails. Having worked with some of the larger agencies in the past I found that those authentic relationships and general concern for my best interests were at times neglected. Rather than asking for my name I was asked first for my policy number. Working with Ms. Rehbein felt like working with a friend who prioritized what was best for me and my financial interests. I highly recommend working with her and utilizing her business acumen.

I recently went through the home buying process and worked with Renasant, and specifically Julia Wilson at the Cool Springs branch. Before starting, I asked a lot of people for recommendations on local mortgage brokers because I wanted to shop the rates and service of a few of the big banks with some of the local ones. Renasant was one of the recommendations I received. I met with the branch in Cool Springs, although I had previously met the Bank president at the downtown location and had a good experience. The meeting my wife and I had went very well. We met with Heath, who manages that branch, after hours (we both were coming from downtown, after work and fighting traffic) and he spent as much time with us as we wanted. He was patient and gave some great advice, even though we weren't ready to start the process. When we were seriously ready and began shopping the rates, Renasant was the lowest at every stage. Out closing costs were about the same as everywhere else and we weren't able to negotiate those down very much, but they very much made up for that in service. The loan officer we primarily worked with, Julia Wilson, was amazing and extremely responsive. Nights, weekends, all throughout the day ... she would reply or call us with the information we needed. To top it off, something came up DURING CLOSE, and the title company told us that we could get it fixed but it would probably take several weeks or months and in the interim we would have to continue paying more than we needed. I emailed Renasant right then and they replied right away. They fixed the issue by sending over updated documents and when I relayed this to attorney sitting at the table, his jaw literally dropped. So far, they have been amazing to work with and I would recommend them to anyone and would definitely work with them again.
