Incompetence, Safety Risks, and Unresolved Issues I wish we had never chosen Ameriglide for my parents' stairlift installation. What should have been a straightforward process turned into a nightmare filled with incompetence, poor service, lack of communication, and a serious safety concern. Issues have persisted for many months despite repeated attempts to resolve them. Please read the summary below of the main issues we faced: 1. Ordering & Installation Issues On September 10, 2024, we consulted with Ameriglide on a custom curved stairlift for my parents. We were promised a thorough assessment to first confirm proper fit, followed by precise measurements, and professional installation. After paying nearly $11,000, things quickly went quickly downhill. On November 5, an inexperienced installer was sent and failed to meet the agreed-upon installation plan. Despite multiple requests for a more qualified installer, Ameriglide sent the same installer again on November 12, who still couldn't fix the issues. However, he was very gracious and apologized for being unable to complete the install. 2. Communication Failures On November 12, after speaking with the VP of Sales, he promised a quick resolution. Despite multiple follow-up attempts, we received no response, leaving us no choice but to seek assistance elsewhere after weeks of waiting. 3. Damages & Safety Concerns When a qualified installer was finally sent on December 18, he was very helpful and confirmed that the original installation was not only incorrect, but the original installer had caused unnecessary damage to our stairway carpet. Also, he immediately identified a critical safety issue: head clearance. An overhead beam obstructed the stairlift's path, making it unusable and dangerous. This major risk should have been flagged during the initial assessment, as it posed a serious hazard that could have resulted in injury to my elderly parents. 4. Refund & Compensation Issues Ameriglide, despite being fully at fault, initially refused a refund. They then said they were "reviewing with the manufacturer to find a workable solution" which continued the delay. After escalating the issue with our credit card company, they agreed to remove the stairlift and promised a refund on January 16, but delays continued for several weeks. Ultimately, on February 17, they offered a partial refund but insisted on keeping a non-refundable $2,500 CAD design fee. This fee was for a design based on an incorrect initial assessment - one that should never have moved to the CAD design stage in the first place. Yet they have refused to take responsibility for their mistakes. Our request for compensation for an estimated $480 in carpet damages caused by the initial inexperienced installer remains unaddressed. Despite initially promising to review this request, Ameriglide has ignored all subsequent inquiries about it. Conclusion: A Warning to Families Dealing with Mobility Issues From the initial consultation in September, to the partial refund offer in February, this ordeal has spanned five months. During this time, my parents have experienced constant delays, poor communication, and significant stress. Ameriglide left my parents not only without a stairlift but also facing financial loss and damages to their home. If you value safety, reliability, and fair treatment, I urge you to avoid Ameriglide. I ordered a Hymar AL 400 Lift, for my mobility scooter.. They delivered a hymar AL 100. They did not include. All the needed equipmand and they are lift Was too low to the ground and would hit the ground while Driving. They knew there was a question about the model number. I was ordering, but instead of just calling me to get it clarified They decided they could figure it out on their own and figure it out wrong. They did not include a swing gate which I ordered. Once installed, it did not work and would not lift my mobility scooter off the ground. When I tried to call Salman Sazid He stopped taking my calls.And I could not reach him until I called him from a different telephone number. He then proceeded to lie to me about the order And whether or not high more made a swing gate for their mobility lifts. The unit was picked up the next day by the installer, A nice man named Cliff Bramlett, Who are recommends highly. I filed a dispute with my bank after Salmon refused to issue a credit despite the unit being the wrong model with the wrong attachments, which did not work and which would have hit the ground. We placed an order with Ameriglide online. Only one order, and only one receipt was sent. We then see two charges on our credit card. After A MONTH of trying to get Ameriglide to refund the fraudulent 2nd order, I finally told them I'm done waiting and was going to file a chargeback. Instead of actually helping me, the rep just told me to go ahead making this my problem and taking no ownership or responsibility of their mistake. Dealing with this company has been a terrible experience all around. It's no wonder they have a two star Google rating and even worse, an "F" rating with the BBB. read more

Do not purchase an Ameriglide product. They claim 110% customer satisfaction, but this is not true. My sister ordered a stair lift for my brother-in-law. It was delivered 9/27/24. He was admitted to the hospital prior to receiving it and passed away on 10/3/24. I called Ameriglide customer service on 10/3/24. I explained our situation and was told we would receive a return call. I called again on 10/4/24. This time I spoke with an extremely rude woman who refused to transfer me to a manager until I questioned their 110% customer satisfaction policy. I was transferred to Tony, left a message, and did not receive a return call. On 10/14/24, I called again. I spoke with Jessica. She said that we had missed the return policy by 1 day. I explained that the items were never opened and my brother in law (age 50) had died. She called Tony, and Tony said that there were no exceptions for their policy. I told Jessica to tell Tony that I would be warning families about purchasing from Ameriglide. My 92-year-old mother needed a chairlift to get her up and down a short set of stairs in the garage. Not knowing where to turn I found AmeriGlide on the internet and selected them to purchase and install the stairlift. Sadly, this was a mistake. The problems began immediately and did not stop for 2 1/2 months. The salesperson assured me the chairlift would arrive ASAP and installation would be seamless. It didn't and it wasn't. Three out of four packages arrived within a couple of weeks, but the fourth never arrived. The salesperson was unresponsive. When he finally responded he told me they have to jump through a bunch of hoops with FedEx before sending a replacement. I finally got a supervisor who seemed to want to make things right and was able to get a replacement box out. I wish this was where the problems ended, but it wasn't. Scheduling installation was entirely up to me. Initially my calls to the installer went directly to a voicemail that was full. The installer finally called me and we scheduled a date for installation. I waited at my mother's house for the arranged two hour window and no one showed. I called the installation company and they accused me of having the wrong date. The installer admitted it was his fault, he had written the wrong date. A new date was arranged. The installation was completed and the chair lift did not work properly. When he tore it apart, he found a defective part. He said he would arrange for a new part. When that didn't seem to happen, I contacted the same supervisor at AmeriGlide (after 2 weeks) and he arranged for a replacement part. When the replacement part arrived, the installer was not available for another week and a half. We scheduled the date to fix the chairlift and the day of the repair, the installer told me he was having a personal issue at home and could not come. We scheduled the next day. That night he contacted me and said he could not come because he had to get his taxes done. The following day he arrived and fixed the chair lift. Finally, after nearly 2 1/2 months, the chairlift is operational. I have been told they are looking to improve their operations to prevent the problems I experienced. I really hope they do. In the meantime, I cannot recommend them. read more

Let's start from the beginning. Sales was happy to take our order and credit card, but lied to us for 2 weeks when we called to follow up and get a tracking number. When we finally hot a tracking number, it was given before our stair lifts were shipped. The directions were not only unclear, they were out of order, causing us to have to undo and re-do a lot of work. The wrong color seats were sent. Once we managed to install the stair chairs, one of the two worked one time before it had a problem. I called the Service number at around 5:15 pm EST, which should have been fine because the web site said that service was available 7 days/week, until 9:00 pm EST. I got a Sales person who told me they were closed. When I told him what the web site said, he replied, "Well good luck" and forwarded me to the Service group's answering machine. 100% disappointed with the entire experience, and I still do not have a working set of stair chairs one month later. read more

The sales process for stairlift (RAVE2) was great with Roger.....but once installation issues arose the communication wasn't so great. The company actually making the product just needs to do a better job (screw holes having to filed out, sensors not adjusted correctly). The shame is this could have a been a 5 star review if the factory and ameriglide would have confirmed the product at install and before shipment. read more

This will be a little bit of a long story. I purchased a wheelchair lift for my handicapped wife from this company in 2022. The first arrived destroyed due to poor packaging. By the time the second arrived it could no longer be installed as planned due to the house being too far along in construction. We had to wait until the house was nearly done in order to install it. Itt was not installed until December 2023. The instructions were horrible and it took two days to do a 6 hour job. It worked for 25 uses and failed. Basically it is a large nut that screws onto a screw. They have sent me three nuts and none screw onto the shaft. It is obvious it is the screw but they won't send me one because "they will lose money if they do". I have asked for a manager to call me and crickets. I have now gotten my attorney involved and we will be suing them for the value of the company to drive them out of business. My wife has had to delay her knee replacement due to the lift not working. Do yourself a favor and do not do business with this company. If you have a similar story send me a message and maybe we can get a class action going. read more

They told us when we purchased they would buy back. We spent about 3000.00 and used for 4 months. Called them to sell back and told us they won't buy back and even if they did they would give 250.00. Lousy, Stinking Sales Department .. For the product itself, I rate it between 4 and 5 stars. The model we ordered installed flawlessly and has worked well for the last couple of months. No regrets whatsoever with purchasing it. My issue is with the Sales Department; incompetent, rude, lazy, and in the areas that count - liars. In my case, we finalized the purchase agreement based on a future delivery point and installation. By the way, the installers, if you use the company installers, were pretty awesome and you should choose them if possible. To continue .. the delivery point. I specified a future delivery point, as in "do not deliver until a date two weeks from now". Real simple. Nope .. they fulfilled the order the next day with the product about to be delivered to an empty residence. They didn't notify me of shipping .. I learned about it via due diligence and made every attempt to stop/reschedule the delivery. The "Sales" department lied to me regarding the status and when I pressed them, they came clean with the story but then made every effort to push the responsibility for correct delivery on me, which I refused since I was paying THEM for it. The person trying to do this was a T.J. Sell, Sales Manager. Eventually, the product was delivered but not without nearly a dozen phone calls to "T.J.". The interaction was not without real anger at his treatment of us, particularly when he tried to blame the misdelivery on COVID (really???). Somehow a disease was responsible for his failure to stay on top of the order fulfillment process to ensure the $2000+ order was correctly handed over to shipping (FedEx). "T.J." also attempted (several times) to pick a fight with me over the phone, a form of intimidation that was easy to ignore. So, if you're buying this product, you can sleep well knowing it's well-crafted. But -- it's highly advised you hold the Sales Department's feet to the fire EVERY STEP OF THE WAY ... follow-up with them by phone every day ... take detailed notes of date, time, and what was discussed. The Sales Department WILL find a way to disappoint if you're not careful. Get everything discussed in writing. Be particularly wary if you end up speaking with T.J. Sell; he's a major headache Excedrin can't fix. read more

We ordered a stairlift for my elderly neighbor in mid June 2022. It was finally installed on September 7, 2022, three months after ordering the unit. First Ameriglide didn't send all the parts to install so the installer left and promised to be back as soon as we received the missing parts. I contacted the third party installer when we received the missing parts and he promised several different dates over the next couple of months to return but never show up for any of these. I spent hours over the next couple of months trying to get Ameriglide resolve this issue but they would say they were looking into it but never called me back. After almost three months my neighbor contacted her credit card company to dispute this transaction due to not completing the project that she had already paid for. This unit had been sitting in her entry way for all this time. She is 85 years old and desperately needed this lift installed but Ameriglide and their installer never contacted us or returned my calls. The unit was installed 10 days later but only after my neighbor contacted her credit card company to remove the hold because Amerigl refused to paythe installer until this was done. Do NOT do business with this company! They have the absolute worst customer service and once they get your money, you are dead to them! read more

Really disappointed in this company! Zero stars is more accurate. My family purchased a stair lift for my ailing grandmother. AmeriGlide readily took our money, but then neglected to help us get the product installed. It took weeks to get this company to respond to our phone calls. They subcontract with installers who are just as unreliable. AmeriGlide blamed the the subcontractor and refuses to remedy the situation. They had their money and that's all they cared about. Eventually the stair lift was installed (luckily before my grandmother's passing), only to operate for 3 weeks. We are now out thousands of dollars and again AmeriGlide won't return our calls. I wish we would have read these other reviews before purchasing from AmeriGlide! It's unfortunate that we have to pursue compensation through small claims court. Choose another supplier in the Raleigh area. Their customer service is non-existent. The sales staff have no problems giving information that is not only not accurate but is truly wrong. Communication within the office is horrible to negligent. Salesmen do not return phone calls as promised. There appears to be a fairly elaborate system to shield themselves from having to take responsibility for what they sell. Rating Ameriglide now it would be the lowest rating I could give. The sales people are great until they get your money then they are useless. I purchased a Platinum curved climber and spent over $12,000. I purchased it because of our recently handicap son had to move back in with us and due to space limitations we have him living in our basement. I purchased this climber because of the guaranteed dates that I was given. I have written confirmation that the climber would be installed approximately 30 days of placing the order and its now been almost double that. Last night at the beginning of a snow storm I brought my son around the house a distance of over 300 ft and down a hill to get him into the basement. Even though at this time there was only a 1/2 inch of snow on the grass the snow built up in the front wheels of his wheel chair and quickly stopped which threw him to the ground. While he laid there waiting on the wet ground, I had to call a neighbor to help me pick him up. This would not have happened if Ameriglide honored their time frame commitments. I've been trying to contact Ameriglide about getting the climber installed for a week now and I am not getting any responses back. Winter is here and I'm afraid that without this climber being installed I may not be able to move our son out of the basement. Which would also mean he will have to miss out on his medical appointments . I'm looking at a brick wall and don't know what to do, I typically don't post but I'm at my wits end and desperate to get an answer from Ameriglide. I feel posting this may be the only way to get someone at Ameriglide to pay attention to my dilemma and help me get this climber installed soon. read more

I recently purchased a new stair lift for our daughter who has cancer and is no longer strong enough to climb the stairs to her bedroom. The company states that they provide self install instructions and since both my son and I are extremely handy I chose that option. I also paid an extra $100 for a 24 hour ship of the product. That did not happen and they said they would refund that money. I just checked and they have not refunded my $100. The installation material is incredibly poor. We needed a rail made of two sections and it took us an hour to decide which was upper and which was lower. Many things are missing for the instructions to be useful to someone who has not seen this equipment before. A huge example is there is no instruction to anchor the rail to the floor, but it is obvious that it can't just lay on the floor without being securely anchored. I got a call a few minutes ago from her husband. She is at the hospital for her weekly chemo treatment and he said the chair has become unreliable to operate. If it won't work when she gets home she will be stuck down stairs. He got it to work once by unplugging the charger and plugging it in again. Another time it started working after he turned the key off and on many times. When it works it is a great device, but it is worthless when it can't be depended on. This is incredibly distressful during an already distressful time. read more

Their repair charges are outrageous and they do not help the senior who is in need of this stair chair. I have several friends who want to order one and this company is definitely one that I would not at all recommend to anyone. Look into a Stair Chair Company that will help the seniors in need of a good product and a reliable company. An excellent experience every step of the way. My sales rep, Taylor walked me thru the information they required to be sure my stair chair lift was sized correctly for my installation. I had a few questions which he answered and the order was placed. 4 days later my Horizon stair chair lift arrived via UPS. Installation was relatively simple - took me about 5 hours....could probably do it now in 3 or less. I had a problem with one of the components, the battery charger quit after about 12 hours in use. Tech support was fast to get me out a replacement...2 days to my door. Since then the system works great. My wife loves it so therefore I am likewise a happy camper! read more

I have purchased both a lift chair and a stair lift from this company. I had a good experience with their sales manager. The stair lift was installed promptly and correctly. After 14 months of use the lift chair stopped working. I called the company for service help, they immediately sent me to the manufacturer in Pennsylvania. They weren't much help. Told me they couldn't sell repair parts to retail customers. After a extensive search on google I located a company in Tennessee that helped my acquire the parts I needed to repair the lift chair. Ameriglide should support the items they sell or they shouldn't be selling products. read more

In August after being strung along with and endless list of excuses and non communication, I had to pull the plug. I prepaid for it, so getting a refund was like pulling teeth. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THIS COMPANY! My 98 year old mother purchased a Golden Buzz-A-Round LT scooter from Ameriglide. After use, the batteries needed to be replaced. I called our local Ameriglide merchant and placed the order for the 2 batteries. I received a call from the company the next day because they had recorded the credit card information incorrectly. I gave them the correct information and my card was charged $173.75 the next day. After waiting 4 weeks for the batteries to be delivered, I called the store to check on the order. No one would return my repeated calls. I then went to the store and was told that the order was never processed and that it was finally ordered - 43 DAYS AFTER I WAS CHARGED! (They obviously had gotten my voicemails but never had the courtesy to call me back and let me know about their mistake.) I then told them, due to their oversight, I expected them to re-order the batteries and have them expedited to me at their cost. They told me they'd see what they could do. 4 days later, I received an email copy from the store to Golden Technologies inquiring about the status of the order. 4 days later, having heard NOTHING about the order, I called Ameriglide Corporate and told them to CANCEL the order and refund me the money. They said they would check on the order. Today, 6 days after my communication with corporate headquarters and hearing NOTHING from them, I called my credit card company to dispute the charge and have the money refunded. We'll see what happens. Oh, and by the way, if you need batteries go to Batteries Plus - they had the batteries for the scooter, they installed them for me and it was considerably cheaper than Ameriglide!! read more

Ordered lift chair for disabled mother in law in December 2020. During installation had issues, needed a working part. The company stated they would send the part. The part was never sent. I have called repeatedly and spoke to Curtis, Roger, Taylor, Grant, Thomas, Corrine, TJ, and Fernando. We are at the end of March 2021 and my disabled mother in law can not get up and down the stairs because the part has not arrived. This is a very expensive piece of equipment and it is a MEDICAL DEVICE that is created to assist people with DISABILITIES. I asked when this chair would be delivered, after finding out that I would be away during delivery time and the chair was set to go to our rental property that my mother will be moving into and currently vacant, I gave my home address for delivery as someone was minding the house. This nimrod screwed up his notes and thought I didn't want the chair delivered til after I got back. I arrive home TWO WEEKS later and no chair. I called up and after numerous phone calls I finally get the guy and he said that he left messages that he was waiting for a dr's note for Medicare? Huh ? No you've got the wrong person and I never got any phone calls., then he says I'll get back to you, the chairs right here waiting for delivery. He doesn't get back to me that afternoon and I'm waiting on a call back the next day. I keep getting his voicemail. I sent a threatening email that I was going to do a chargeback unless I heard from him by 5:00 that day. He calls back maybe 15 minutes after I sent the email. Then he says well the addresses don't match and that's why it wasn't sent. He's got all the information he needs. WTF!! I might add strangely enough I never got an invoice which I had mentioned to him, but he was quick on processing the payment on Sept 19th the day I ordered this damn chair. He promised it would arrive before the end of the following week. Here we are the 17th of Oct. and the chair never arrived. I knew it wasn't going to and contacted my cc company. Once we settled on the product, he was able to find one that was recently discounted which was an added bonus. Vince warned me about your delivery limitations but I still think the product could be moved inside the persons living area and not dropped outside. Avoid this company at all cost! Ordered a chairlift, once it arrived, like others mentioned, the instructions were out of order. The digital display doesn't work. Tech support advised that it is generally a fuse thAt is normally broken upon delivery. Nope, now they are supposed to send a replacement. Called a week later. The paperwork has been completed, waiting for approval to ship. What? Now the lift works 50% of the time. In-laws keep getting stuck. Tech support keeps saying they can fix it because I can't read them the screen. The same screen that is broken. read more

Before we could buy, Jaden Peterson talked us into a cheaper chair lift. When it came and we realized it did not have the things we wanted we called Jaden who said he could not take it back even though we offered more money saying the cheaper one had been cut to fit o0ur stairs. We had not opened the boxes but when we finally did we looked it over and could not see where it had been cut. Also we found out they would take it back and sell it as used. This, in our opinion, is a scam to get rid of the old crap laying around. Jaden is a liar and cost us what we really wanted in a chair lift. Now we are stuck with this piece of crap believing in this liar Jaden. I guess this is the type of guy AmeriGlide wants selling their crap over the good stuff. I would give this company less than one star if possible. I ordered a quick ship chair for my 86 year old father. His current chair is failing and I wanted to get one asap to replace it. I placed the order and received an email that it would be shipped in 5 days. That was 23 days ago. No one at this company can locate this chair nor give any idea of when it could possibly be delivered. I have been calling them for 2 weeks and keep getting the run around. Everyone I talk to to going to "send an email" up and find out. I keep getting asked if I ordered this on-line or through the phone. She told me I could cancel this order and order a new one on the phone and that she would transfer me to someone who could help me. He transferred me back to her. Needless to say... I cancelled my order and am now told that they will "possibly" be able to process this today. They can't return my money to my card until they get it back from the manufacturer...who btw hasn't returned any emails regarding the location of the chair. Buyer Beware!!! read more
