I needed a bung welded onto my oil pan and these guys did a really good job. Not only was the service excellent but the price is also really reasonable. I'm a hobbyist welder, But I needed a professional to weld in a new front Crossmember for my '47 Ford Project. We have a DIY project building a custom aluminum framework for atop a custom built camper to mount solar panels atop of. We don't want to put any holes in the roof, so we got some L angles of aluminum from B&B with the idea to cut slits and make bends in the angles to contour to our 3-sided roof; to then be affixed by thick glue where it rests on the roof and use mechanical fasteners on the flange ends into the side of the camper's frame. I found this shop close by that could make the bends we needed, I just popped in and the boss man was super chill and we made those bends on the spot with his heavy duty benderabob! And he didn't charge me much none either, which we really appreciated it. Cool shop, cool owner, highly recommend this spot for any metal working! I wanted to post this for my husband who recently worked with Rich on a BBQ smoker project... here's what he had to say. Rich helped me bring my BBQ concept to reality!!! After looking for a fabricator in SoCal for a couple weeks, and almost zero return calls, I found Rich. A quick call with my idea and he said "sure come by and we can go over it". Simple, I brought a 1/2" size mockup of the smoker I had designed and we discussed my budget and timeframe on getting it completed before the 4th. Pricing looked good, so I pulled the trigger and it's now just 2 weeks till the 4th. He called when metal arrived laser cut and bent to shape, most of the pieces tacked in place. I was getting excited as the beast took shape. We made some changes and he worked within my budget to accommodate the modifications. Fast forward 3 more days and I get the call that it was ready to pickup, which was no easy task as the smokers is well over 350lbs. Brought it home tested it after a good cleaning and everything worked perfectly. Great welds and all the doors sealed tight, I couldn't be happier. I found this business in a search for a welding shop to repair a metal patio gate that had rusted and one hinge was broken off. Monday they were very busy, but Tuesday they made time for me. There was a question about how best to repair the gate that I took into the shop. The decision was made to weld one new hinge (after cutting the old one off) and to reweled the other hinge on to prevent it breaking off in the future. Hey, what's up fellow Yelpers? Since I found American Welding & Fabrication here on Yelp, I thought it'd be fitting to let everyone know about my experience. So, I have a home that was built over 40 years ago and the staircase spindles (the vertical bar thingies) were spaced too far apart to comply with current building codes. For safety, I wanted to have this fixed. I called around and most places just wanted to sell me a whole new staircase. Cha-ching...it's major coin to rip out the entire railings and put in new everything! Well, then my husband and I started thinking...what if we could just add another metal spindle in between all the existing ones? That would fix the spacing issue...if only someone could do the job. Enter Richard from American Welding!! Richard and I talked on the phone and he asked for a couple pictures. He told me it wasn't an easy job, but he could do it, and at a fair price! Next, he visited the house to measure everything, AND he helped me (really led me) in choosing a twisted metal spindle design. Richard has an AMAZING ARTISTIC EYE! And in my defense, I was smart enough to take his advice. LOL! Anyway, within a day or two he was at my place doing the installation. He was professional and efficient...and he clearly knows his stuff!!! This guy is the real deal. In the end, my stairs are now up to code, they look amazing, and it cost me only about 15-20% of what a whole new stair system would have cost! In short - Richard and this team at American Welding and Fabrication are amazing! He's the best fabricator I've ever worked with and made me exactly what I wanted for a fair price, and he was fast, professional and had great communication. I was recommended to him from a customer at my last job, and right from the start I knew I found a good business and excellent fabricator. I had drawn up some crude designs of a desk/workbench I was wanting him to build and emailed him first. He responded quickly and over the next 2 weeks or so he helped me a TON both on the phone and via email, and in the end built EXACTLY what I wanted just like I envisioned it in my head. He even texted me pictures of his progress. Even though I had a rough design, I hadn't worked out all the details. So Rich had great ideas to meet my specific requirements and fill the holes in my design. On top of that, being an aerospace engineer I'm forced to be very detailed oriented a lot and can honestly be a pain in the ass, but he effortlessly worked with me anyways thru the whole project. This wasn't so easy since the structure he was building for me needed to fit around a lot of other equipment and items, so there was a lot to consider and get right to make the table work for me. He made it all come together and I couldn't be happier with his work, I'd give him 10 stars if I could! Richard and his helper fabricated and installed steel planter walls for me. After I had emailed some sketches, he promptly arranged to visit the site to take measurements. As a landscape architect, I very much appreciated his attention to detail and thoroughness. As some of the pieces of 1/4" steel were very long, they welded the segments together on site. They dug a trench to bury the lower few inches of the planter and welded stakes to give the plates structural strength, as the planters also served to retain about a foot of soil. The photos show the final product, and over time the planters will be allowed to rust. Thank you, Richard and apprentice, for your fine work. I would give American Welding and Fabrication 6 stars if that was possible. What is possible, is for me to tell you that they are a six-star or better business. If you have any welding or metal fabrication to be done, don't hesitate to call Rich. I called to see if they could modify some brackets to mount saddlebags on my motorcycle and before I even finished explaining what I wanted, he said he could do the job. I went straight to the shop expecting to leave the brackets for a day, maybe two (especially because I got there about 40 minutes before closing). I know very little about the art of welding, so I showed Rich the brackets while trying to describe how I wanted them modified. He asked a few questions to better understand my "bad" description of the desired outcome and then jumped right into modifying the brackets while I waited. I was impressed at how neat, clean, and organized it was in his shop. Some might say that could be because they were about to close for the day, and that may have accounted for the floor being swept. But, having been in the military for over 25 years, I know the difference between "inspection clean" and every day "organized, pride in the workplace type clean". It has been my experience that this type of cleanliness has a direct correlation to the quality of work performed in that shop. And, QUALITY (at a very fair price) is exactly what you will get from Rich at American Welding and Fabrication.
