We used American Rug Laundry to clean our area rugs based off of their reviews on multiple social media sites. I feel they did a good job. We opted for their $20 pick up/drop off service and it went fairly well. They picked up our rugs when they said they would and they were quick and nice. I would have felt more comfortable if they would have invoiced/tagged my rugs in my house, before taking them out to the truck. I added two extra rugs last minute that were not on my original invoice so I would have liked to have had the comfort of knowing all my rugs were properly accounted for and have a copy of that information. That being said, a few days later I did receive a very thorough email documenting each of my rugs. They included invoice numbers, QR codes, and several detailed photos of each rug and this gave me the confidence that I didn't feel during the pick-up. In fact I will go as far as saying that this documentation was extremely professional and I was very impressed with it. The rugs were then returned after the cleaning and drying process and each one was properly tagged and nicely wrapped in heavy paper for protection. Upon opening and inspecting them I felt that all but one were cleaned to my liking. All but one smelled neutral (no strong scent) and they looked and felt clean on both sides. It was very noticeable that they had been cleaned well. I was satisfied. And the one small rug that I wasn't satisfied with (it still smelled to me of pet urine -we bought it used at a low price knowing the condition) but I give kudos to the company because they took it back to re-clean it at no cost, (although they claimed I was smelling the latex from the backing and not urine in which I disagree, as this was the only rug that didn't smell neutral and still had the same circular stains on the back, unlike my other four rugs which smelled neutral and those markings were no longer visible). I can't complain though because they offered to re-clean it at no cost and they were very professional about it. Based on these things I will definitely try them again when I need their services. One more addition... I used them during one of their 40%off each rug promotions and there were no gimmicks or "fine print " and it was because of this promotion that I could afford having all my rugs cleaned at once. I don't think I would have use them with without the promotion as the prices would have been too steep. read more

I used to live a few blocks from here and American Rug Laundry has always been the best place to clean your rugs. Now that I don't live nearby I don't receive their coupon deals so I wish they would post them online. We cleaned a very dirty cotton rug that we use for our foray. It is white with a chevron pattern and was grey when I brought it in. They cleaned it amazingly to a slightly off white. Back to the foray and it is getting dirty again. When it is time I will bring it back and have them work their magic again. My mom used to have oriental rugs cleaned here and they really did magic on those. read more

I have a rug I love in my kitchen that gets a lot of wear and tear. it's 9' long so anyone working in my kitchen steps and spills on it. fortunately I can take it to American Rug Laundry where they clean it to the point that it looks brand new. I received my rug yesterday and was amazed! I forgot how vibrant the colors are! I highly recommend American Laundry Rug. By the way, they delivered it sooner than the estimate to get it done! read more

This firm is the firm I have trusted twice over the past 20 or so years (most recently 2024) to clean my large Karastan rug --they pick it up, wash it, and return it when it is absolutely thoroughly dry--perfect work, perfect service, very reasonable price. read more

Wouldn't take my oriental rugs anywhere else to have them deep cleaned. This shop knows how to deep clean rugs. I couldn't speak to value because I never go elsewhere for comparison. I do know that they have discount frequently that you can find online at their web site. read more

I only used their services one time many years ago. They did a good job with my rug. I continued to receive their cards and asked to be removed from their list. I moved to Duluth and somehow they continued to send advertisements. I've called them, emailed them and sent a request in the mail. Since I live in Duluth in a senior living building as I told them I continue to receive them. read more

This company is reliable and has good systems in place to have one's rug picked up, delivered and for payment. More importantly, I received the best customer service from Rick that I have ever received and I also really appreciated the extra mile and patience the fellows who delivered my rug took to help me set it up. There was an oversight and a spot was not addressed on the first run through. Mistakes happen but what was notable is that I didn't have to call their attention to it, they did! They took responsibility, rectified it right away and communication about it was excellent. I highly recommend them. read more

This is typically a great company and they have cleaned many of our handmade rugs and we have purchased several rug pads from them. Their work has been beautiful and at a fair price. Recently we did not have great experience however. We wanted to have two handmade rugs cleaned and when I called they informed us that they needed to see the rugs to give an estimate so they picked them up only to give us a very high estimate- more than the cost of most handmade rugs. Would recommend that you receive an estimate BEFORE you send them to the store or you might be very surprised and not happy ! read more

Like these guys. They have brought several of our rugs back to life. A clean rug is a fantastic thing.

We've brought our area rugs to American Rug Laundry a few times over the years and been very pleased. They do a great job removing dirt, grime and odor from our rugs. They have the items ready on time and do a professional job packing and protecting them until we pick them up.. One thing we like the most, as the owners of two dogs, is that they offer different cleaning options. There's a deep clean service and also one specifically for pet odors. Our rugs were long overdue for cleaning--20 years on two of them. All three came back looking good as new. The spots left by the pets were gone as well as areas showing traffic wear virtually disappeared. I am very impressed with their customer service. The pickup and drop off service was within the designated hour time they gave. I give them high marks and highly recommend them. read more

Wonderful family business that has cared for my beautiful rugs for about 20 years now. They have done professional cleaning of my hand made carpets, moth proofed, picked up and delivered when needed, and sell lovely rugs at good prices too. Knowledgeable and just a great resource. Glad we have them here in town! Thank you, ARL team! read more

I have been using American Rug Laundry for many years for my carpets and have been extremely happy with their services. I was prompted to write this review because recently my dog had an "accident" on a beige, hand woven Chinese carpet which we acquired about 25 years ago. My wife and I cleaned up the mess as best we could and the next morning, a Tuesday I took it in. As I was going out of town the following week end, they did a special rush job and got it back to me on Friday. Since they made no promises, I was worried that the rug might be a goner but when, with some trepidation, I unrolled it a their shop, it looked as good as new. I am very pleased with their service and recommend them highly. read more

Our dog had a major accident on our new wool oriental rug. Did what I could with vinegar and distilled water but American Rug Laundry did an excellent and very fast cleaning. No stain! Very pleased with the quality of their work. We've been bringing rugs here for 20+ years and this was the biggest challenge we've ever given them. They did a fantastic job! Highly recommend read more

This is the 3rd time I've used American Rug Laundry. As before they kept to the promise of a specific turn around as we are moving out of the area. They are professional and do an excellent job. read more

I have had several rugs cleaned by American Rug Laundry in the 40+ years I have lived in Minneapolis, but this was the first cleaning for the three rugs I sent them in August 2020. They did a phenominal job on all three - at least one of which had to be washed twice or three times before it got throroughly clean! In addition, the delivery men moved the furniture I was not able to move ahead of time cheerfully and carefully when they came to collect the rugs. After the rugs were cleaned, they delivered them to me, unrolled and laid them just where I wanted them and then re-placed all the furniture, taking the paper wrappings with them when they left. Everyone I dealt with, from the delivery men to the office staff, was pleasant, cheerful, helpful and knowledgable and they did a beautiful job cleaning my rugs. I would highly recommend America Rug Laundry to anyone in search of a high quality, locall source of rug cleaning and I hope they stay in business for a long, long time! read more

I can't say enough good things about this business. Honest people who want to do right by their customers. It isn't the cheapest endeavor to have your wool rugs cleaned but they do everything in their power to make you feel that the investment was worthwhile. I have brought a rug in a couple of different times due to pet stains. They are extremely difficult to remove and often times will not come out for anyone. American Rug Laundry has happily washed my rug twice both times for me to satisfy my perfectionistic tendencies. They didn't guilt me about asking them to do it again and told me their goal was to make me a loyal customer. I truly appreciate that type of service and I won't go anywhere else! read more

Great service here! I bought a new ivory colored rug and our cat threw up on after I'd had it two days! Bright yellow vomit. I cleaned it as best I could with soap and water, but the more I tried to clean it the worse it got. I brought it in to American Rug Laundry, and although they wouldn't promise anything they went to work on it right away. When I got it back I could not see where the stain had been. These guys really are great professionals. (Anyone want a cat? ) read more

Our kitty had kidney failure and peed everywhere, but loved the wool rug the most. After she passed, we knew we had to clean the rug. We dragged the rug to American Rug Laundry and we were amazed by how great of a job they did! The fringe that was previously yellow returned to a lovely white and cream. They also removed nearly all of the stains and the one that couldn't be removed (Kool-Aid from 20+ years ago) was greatly improved. The rug smelled amazing, and it is now protected from future stains. Also, completely reasonable pricing! We will be back! read more

I called several rug cleaning places and was impressed by the woman I spoke with on the phone. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. I decided to drive from Shakopee, past three other rug cleaners, to go to American Rug Laundry. When I arrived, Mike was extremely helpful. They deep cleaned my rug, and repaired a spot that was worn. The rug was previously in Hawaii so there was a lot of sand embedded in the rug. The rug is now vibrant, clean, and sand free! You can't go wrong with a company that has specialized in rug cleaning for 120 years!! Customer for life here. Thanks Mike. read more

Wonderful. Came and took two large wool rugs. They repaired one, front and back, that had been damaged badly by a puppy, brought them back and even placed a very large one under a king size bed. Highly recommend! read more

Very knowledgeable folks, who give you well informed advice. They clean beyond expectations. Well worth the trip and the cost.

My rugs turned out beautifully and at a very reasonable price. The staff is so friendly, and the pick up and delivery is very convenient.

After reading all the good stories I brought my rugs here. They know rugs. However their customer service is horrid. I brought my rugs in on Friday and they should have been ready by Aug 24 as they said a week. Late yesterday I finally received an email from them saying they are ready for pick-up. When I asked for an explanation after having previously called numerous times without a response the gentleman today said that they didn't get "scanned" properly and he said that happens sometimes. That makes no sense as I had called and checked up on them and nobody even returned my phone calls. I haven't even looked at my rugs but feel like they held them hostage for almost 3 weeks late past the week they said it would take? So they had my rugs for a month with no communication. That is very disappointing and no apology or Anything was given. read more

I have known Sam and his brother Farzan for a few years. They love what they do, and do what they love. They're both rug experts and have the respect of their clients and peers/colleagues. You can totally trust them with your rug needs, from buying or using their different high level of services such as cleaning, and repair. They are honest, and professionals. Look no further. Just stop by or call in. read more

Start to finish a pleasure to deal with. During the quote process, they made sure to help me understand what was and was not included in the pricing and how to compare their quote to other pricing I might receive. This education process was greatly appreciated as I learned that not all companies due treatments. Then day of Erik and Jeremy showed up right on time, were courteous and got in and out around my baby's nap schedule just as they promised they would. read more

I had a good first time experience at ARL. There was ample parking behind the building and staff was friendly. They explained the costs clearly and met their anticipated turnaround time of 1 week. I was satisfied with the service and recommend you give them a try! read more

My sister had her white wool rugs cleaned here and they came back beautiful and fluffy and they were horribly dirty. I took my rug to Cyrus in Bloomington because I didn't want to deal with traffic in Mpls and they did a horrible job - actually frayed edges and folded my rug up which left creases. Cyrus said my rugs were machined and machined rugs don't turn out as nice. Cyrus should have told me that when I asked specifically. Wish I had gone to American Rug - I will next time, absolutely! read more

I had my oriental carpet cleaned here. They did a beautiful job both on the stains and the overall cleaning. I'm very satisfied. Would certainly use them again. Pricey but worth it! read more

Wow, this is THE place to get your good rug(s) cleaned. We have a couple good Oriental rugs, including a nice cream colored one that is in our living room. Unfortunately, a couple times we have spilled red wine on it. The first time we spilled red wine on the rug was in Boston. I took it to Adams and Swett, thinking they would know what to do, since they have been in business since 1856. Unfortunately, they were unable to get ride of the stains. Fast-forward 2 years later, and wine was spilled on the rug again. We wet the rug down (FYI, American Rug Laundry recommends diluting with white vinegar or white wine) with water and took it to American Rug Laundry the next day. Not only did they get the wine stain out, but they almost completely removed the old wine stains that were from Boston 2+ years ago. American Rug Laundry has restored the appearance and value to our very nice handmade rug. Thank you! read more
