I used to live a few blocks from here and American Rug Laundry has always been the best place to clean your rugs. Now that I don't live nearby I don't receive their coupon deals so I wish they would post them online. We cleaned a very dirty cotton rug that we use for our foray. It is white with a chevron pattern and was grey when I brought it in. They cleaned it amazingly to a slightly off white. Back to the foray and it is getting dirty again. We used American Rug Laundry to clean our area rugs based off of their reviews on multiple social media sites. I feel they did a good job. We opted for their $20 pick up/drop off service and it went fairly well. They picked up our rugs when they said they would and they were quick and nice. I would have felt more comfortable if they would have invoiced/tagged my rugs in my house, before taking them out to the truck. I added two extra rugs last minute that were not on my original invoice so I would have liked to have had the comfort of knowing all my rugs were properly accounted for and have a copy of that information. That being said, a few days later I did receive a very thorough email documenting each of my rugs. They included invoice numbers, QR codes, and several detailed photos of each rug and this gave me the confidence that I didn't feel during the pick-up. In fact I will go as far as saying that this documentation was extremely professional and I was very impressed with it. The rugs were then returned after the cleaning and drying process and each one was properly tagged and nicely wrapped in heavy paper for protection. Upon opening and inspecting them I felt that all but one were cleaned to my liking. All but one smelled neutral (no strong scent) and they looked and felt clean on both sides. It was very noticeable that they had been cleaned well. I was satisfied. And the one small rug that I wasn't satisfied with (it still smelled to me of pet urine -we bought it used at a low price knowing the condition) but I give kudos to the company because they took it back to re-clean it at no cost, (although they claimed I was smelling the latex from the backing and not urine in which I disagree, as this was the only rug that didn't smell neutral and still had the same circular stains on the back, unlike my other four rugs which smelled neutral and those markings were no longer visible). I can't complain though because they offered to re-clean it at no cost and they were very professional about it. Based on these things I will definitely try them again when I need their services. One more addition... I used them during one of their 40%off each rug promotions and there were no gimmicks or "fine print " and it was because of this promotion that I could afford having all my rugs cleaned at once. I don't think I would have use them with without the promotion as the prices would have been too steep. read more

I have a rug I love in my kitchen that gets a lot of wear and tear. it's 9' long so anyone working in my kitchen steps and spills on it. fortunately I can take it to American Rug Laundry where they clean it to the point that it looks brand new. More importantly, I received the best customer service from Rick that I have ever received and I also really appreciated the extra mile and patience the fellows who delivered my rug took to help me set it up. This is typically a great company and they have cleaned many of our handmade rugs and we have purchased several rug pads from them. Their work has been beautiful and at a fair price. Recently we did not have great experience however. We wanted to have two handmade rugs cleaned and when I called they informed us that they needed to see the rugs to give an estimate so they picked them up only to give us a very high estimate- more than the cost of most handmade rugs. I have been using American Rug Laundry for many years for my carpets and have been extremely happy with their services. I was prompted to write this review because recently my dog had an "accident" on a beige, hand woven Chinese carpet which we acquired about 25 years ago. My wife and I cleaned up the mess as best we could and the next morning, a Tuesday I took it in. As I was going out of town the following week end, they did a special rush job and got it back to me on Friday. I have had several rugs cleaned by American Rug Laundry in the 40+ years I have lived in Minneapolis, but this was the first cleaning for the three rugs I sent them in August 2020. They did a phenominal job on all three - at least one of which had to be washed twice or three times before it got throroughly clean! In addition, the delivery men moved the furniture I was not able to move ahead of time cheerfully and carefully when they came to collect the rugs. After the rugs were cleaned, they delivered them to me, unrolled and laid them just where I wanted them and then re-placed all the furniture, taking the paper wrappings with them when they left. Everyone I dealt with, from the delivery men to the office staff, was pleasant, cheerful, helpful and knowledgable and they did a beautiful job cleaning my rugs. Great service here! I bought a new ivory colored rug and our cat threw up on after I'd had it two days! Bright yellow vomit. I cleaned it as best I could with soap and water, but the more I tried to clean it the worse it got. I brought it in to American Rug Laundry, and although they wouldn't promise anything they went to work on it right away. When I got it back I could not see where the stain had been. Our kitty had kidney failure and peed everywhere, but loved the wool rug the most. After she passed, we knew we had to clean the rug. We dragged the rug to American Rug Laundry and we were amazed by how great of a job they did! The fringe that was previously yellow returned to a lovely white and cream. They also removed nearly all of the stains and the one that couldn't be removed (Kool-Aid from 20+ years ago) was greatly improved. After reading all the good stories I brought my rugs here. They know rugs. However their customer service is horrid. I brought my rugs in on Friday and they should have been ready by Aug 24 as they said a week. Late yesterday I finally received an email from them saying they are ready for pick-up. When I asked for an explanation after having previously called numerous times without a response the gentleman today said that they didn't get "scanned" properly and he said that happens sometimes. That makes no sense as I had called and checked up on them and nobody even returned my phone calls. I haven't even looked at my rugs but feel like they held them hostage for almost 3 weeks late past the week they said it would take? So they had my rugs for a month with no communication. I decided to drive from Shakopee, past three other rug cleaners, to go to American Rug Laundry. When I arrived, Mike was extremely helpful. My sister had her white wool rugs cleaned here and they came back beautiful and fluffy and they were horribly dirty. I took my rug to Cyrus in Bloomington because I didn't want to deal with traffic in Mpls and they did a horrible job - actually frayed edges and folded my rug up which left creases. Cyrus said my rugs were machined and machined rugs don't turn out as nice. Cyrus should have told me that when I asked specifically. Wow, this is THE place to get your good rug(s) cleaned. We have a couple good Oriental rugs, including a nice cream colored one that is in our living room. Unfortunately, a couple times we have spilled red wine on it. The first time we spilled red wine on the rug was in Boston. I took it to Adams and Swett, thinking they would know what to do, since they have been in business since 1856. Unfortunately, they were unable to get ride of the stains. Fast-forward 2 years later, and wine was spilled on the rug again. We wet the rug down (FYI, American Rug Laundry recommends diluting with white vinegar or white wine) with water and took it to American Rug Laundry the next day. Not only did they get the wine stain out, but they almost completely removed the old wine stains that were from Boston 2+ years ago.
