I was actually able to take a free tour here and learn about This place while on a parent Led 8th grade class graduation celebration for my oldest daughters class. Part of the celebration was to take a limo ride over to the NoCo area to take photos and selfies with the awesome public art scene. While walking around a worker From maker 13 stopped us and asked us if we wanted to come in and take a tour on This surprisingly chilly late April evening. The kids and parents all obliged and we really enjoyed the tour. The kids were very attentive and asked a lot of good questions about the program and got to witness some local artist perform their work and craft. The studio is basically a rent an office place for artists ranging from designers, computer techs, wood workers and other skills im not familiar with. They do offer summer program and things for youth to come in and work and have a space as well. While on the tour they did have some sodas and snacks for sell which all the hungry teenagers obliged in as well. Overall a very cool and unexpected trip and tour on the kids memorable and fun graduation day. I know for a fact that this tour was a highlight and memory for a lot of the parents and kids. So very cool of them to share their space and knowledge with all of us.

When I…read morearrived theh checked me in and I waited for a few minutes before someone came to tell me the students were actually going to lunch and asked if I could come back at 1230. Weird, but ok. I told every person I spoke to there, from the phone call the day before to the lady that checked me in, that I'd finished radiation only a month before, that I had aome patchy spots on my scalp where my hair was growing back in one area and the hair that was growing back was really fragile, because I wanted them to be gentle. I was in the middle of telling this to my stylist when she interrupted me to ask if I had eczema. Rude in all aspects. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted. She asked the length I wanted and I showed her, physically, how long I wanted my hair to be once cut (a little below my shoulders, to cover my surgical scar and the area I had radiation too, since I'm more prone to sunburns in that area now). She asked what I liked about it, and I was like, "Umm, the cut?" and she asked if I liked the texture of it. Yea, sure. I had to remind her three times that I'd had radiation recently and to please be gentle before she bothered asking what radiation was... I explained to her and her response was, "Well, I'm glad you didn't die." So that was...awkward... I wish I could post photos, but I ended up with a shoulder-length bob, which was not in any way what I asked for. I wanted it below my shoulders and a little shorted in the back, angling down in the front. I'm not even sure about why she asked if I liked the texture, because she sprayed some hairspray or something and that was the only texturizing she did. The more I think about it the more angry I am at myself that I tipped her for giving me a bob. Just be aware that, in my experience, if a student can't do what you're asking for, they'll just do whatever they can do, whether you like it or not. The one star is for the price.

If they couldn't do what I asked for they should've said no! Like I said, two people doing foils at the same time leads to unevenness. I found Ideal Beauty Academy through Groupon and purchased their 60 min signature facial. This was…read moredefined as the student evaluating your skin for dry and oily areas, then selecting products to best hydrate and brighten it. The hours for the academy are somewhat limited if you work first shift. I believe their last available appointment is 3p. I booked my service for 2p and while it was an hour for the facial (per the Groupon), I didn't leave before 1.5 hrs. This is fairly common for a service at beauty school so prepare accordingly. The students need additional time to ask questions and have check ins with their instructor. I enjoyed my facial and felt that I learned a lot about my skin and its condition. If you've not experienced a facial it includes exfoliation, serums and masks. While the mask is setting you also receive an arm / hand massage. My skin felt great and I looked refreshed. The redness on my cheeks was also calmer. The academy itself is simple. A check in desk and classroom on the first floor, and upstairs another classroom setting with a few rooms for facials and other services. The tables are basic, more similar to a medial or massage table than a cushioned one you'd find at a salon; however, I wasn't uncomfortable. You'll also experience sounds around you as others come into the room for supplies or the next customer is only divided by a curtain. Again, part of the experience attending a teaching academy. As long as you hold the correct expectations you won't be disappointed.

I recently redeemed a Groupon for a 60 minute facial. This is a beauty school so I didn't come with…read morehigh expectations. The facility is a little dated, more so upstairs where the facial took place. This isn't a big deal to me but does detract from the ambience of a spa service. Everyone I encountered was polite and friendly. Although it was mentioned to me that service prices had increased since the purchase of my Groupon but they would "honor it anyway"...uh yeah...you better, that's kinda how that works.... My aesthetician cleaned and surveyed my skin. She called in her professor to indicate her plan of action. She then suggested I upgrade to a better line of products for an additional $15. Although my gut told me it wasn't worth it, I agreed any ways. I particularly hate being put on the spot like that. She told me that she needed to get the supplies and was gone for quite a while. When she returned I assume I was given a mask, cleaned and then maybe given a moisturizer. None of this was well explained to me. The actual time she spent on my facial was probably closer to 30-40 minutes, given the waits in between (going to get professor, going to get supplies) I haven't had many facials but the ones I have had have always included some kind of extraction or serious exfoliation. This one did not. It was mostly just her massaging and wiping products off my face. There was also no recommendations or follow up care provided. I tipped 20% on the full amount, which I consider generous given that it was a student/school situation and I wasn't super thrilled. I'm not sure the aesthetician even thanked me. For the quality of service and the cost I ended up paying, I will try a different spot for my beauty service needs.

This place was kinda tricky to find. GPS originally took me to a place that looked like an apartment building however this business appears to be adjacent to the apartment building. I go inside and just proceed to sit at the bar. I think I was to supposed to wait to be seated because bar staff seemed a little annoyed when I walked up to the bar, nothing was said but I think maybe they were I'm not sure. I felt bad in a way but, I never been here before so I had no idea. They have a very extensive Bourbon/whiskey menu and beer selection. They do have food here as well but, I didn't try it this visit. I do like the atmosphere of this place. It's lounge like with dim lighting. The bathroom was definitely unique just look at the picture I took attached with my review. I did try their signature drink which was very delicious but kinda sweet. As it turns out the bartenders behind the bar where actually kind to me and I started to feel more welcome. I definitely want to come back here, just wish it wasn't a long drive but, maybe it's good I don't live close lol I'd probably spend too much time and money here.
