We recently purchased a home with a septic system that was originally installed by A1 Plumbing, but serviced under contract by American. During our inspection, concerns were raised about the placement and quality of the installation. A second, septic provider confirmed that the system appeared to be improperly placed and would likely need to be replaced entirely. The previous homeowner still had an active service contract with American, and arranged for them to perform a reinspection. The technician assured us that everything was functioning properly and confirmed there was one covered service remaining under the warranty. A month later, we began having issues again. We contacted American, and were told--again--that the remaining service under the contract would be applied, and there would be no charge. A technician came out, completed the service, and never mentioned any fee. One week later, we received a call demanding $140. When we explained what we had been told, the representative replied, "You must've talked to the other lady in the office--she never knows what she's talking about." She then followed that up with a threat to place a lien on our home and then HUNG UP. This company's conduct isn't just disappointing--it borders on unethical and potentially unlawful. Misrepresenting warranty coverage, performing services under false pretenses, and then using intimidation to extract payment is precisely the kind of behavior warranty law exists to protect consumers from. If internal staff are giving out inaccurate information, that's not a customer's burden to bear--it's a direct reflection of failed management. Sadly, after reviewing other customer complaints, this behavior appears to be a consistent pattern, not a one-time issue. Miscommunication, vague agreements, surprise charges, and aggressive follow-up tactics seem to be common. Their behavior is predatory. Had we been given accurate information, we would have gladly hired a professional company to handle the issue properly. Instead, we were misled--twice--and are now left with a bigger mess to address. Businesses that thrive on misinformation, pressure tactics, and deceptive practices should not be allowed to continue operating unchecked. If you value honesty, professionalism, and competent service, run--not walk--away from this company. Our experience has been nothing short of expensive, exhausting, and infuriating. read more

The septic system had to be certified for the sale of the house. the permit could not be found, the company did not do the dig to see if it was ok, just failed it and then wrote up the wrong paperwork. I have no confidence in them. read more

Otto and the site crew delivered as promised. Needed a new system. installed prior to home sale. Lead time was a little long, but at no fault of the company. Business is good. The crew went out of their way to make the project go smooth and to minimize the damage to the trees. This project required the relocation of the system to the front yard of our Placitas home, making us very nervous. The end results were much better than we had expected. I wish I could give MINUS FIVE Stars. As noted by other reviewers, this company is dishonest. Any company can make a mistake. The best companies are the ones that step up and do the right thing when they make a mistake. You should not expect this from American Pumping. In addition to refusing to correct their mistake, the owner actually came on to my property without permission and disabled part of my leach field to cover up his mistake. Also, the company was paid for a two-year service contract which they did not honor. It shocks me that companies can get away this type of behavior. American pumping has screwed me over worse than any thing I have ever imagined in my life. I am trying to sell my house and the inspection they did on my septic tank failed. After having two more companies come to give opinions they both have said that American pumping has purposefully failed my system in order to gain money. I believe they may have punched a hole in the side of my tank to fail it so that it would need to be replaced. I am now contacting an attorney for what I believe is a criminal act committed by American pumping. I am possibly going to lose the sale of my house because of the report they made to the county. I legally have to replace/repair my entire septic system before I can sell the house because of the false inspection submitted by American Pumping to Bernalillo County. read more

This company has zero customer service. They pumped out my tank today and broke the concrete lid because the workman dropped the lid and they claim it happens because the concrete breaks down with age. Interesting to me we have had no issues until they came to pump it out as a service paid by Entronsa as a part of our service. Entronsa was shocked to hear this was our problem. This company wanted me to pay close to $300 to replace the top with a new plastic one and a sleeve. I think this was done on purpose to make extra money and they are not a good company to use period. I found a top for $50.00 and bought it so I did not have to deal with this bad company. read more

I'm really starting to think these guys scam you out of money by charging for jobs you don't need and then breaking something and charging you for those issues as well . This company is trying to charge us for breaking the gas line, which his worker broke. Then they did not call the gas company to inform them that they broke it and got angry with us for calling . I've seen multiple times of other people saying that something was broken (by Otto's workers) and then American plumbing services asks the customer to pay for the repairs . Less than one star preferred but unable to leave negative feedback. They came out to my place. The workers are great but the owner is dishonest and untrustworthy. First he claims that a house I am buying fails a flow test. Claimed that the tank was installed backwards for 20 years. That was suspect. Seller hires him to install a new system. I discussed the install with otto and reminded him that in our garage we have full hookups for a bathroom, shower, washer and dryer and a sink. He acknowledged this. New system was installed. Sprinkler lines and wiring was cut and took 3 months to locate and repair damage. Of course Otto tells you to take a hike on these things. Then I find out that Otto did NOT hook up the garage plumbing. I brought this to his attention and he said he had no way of knowing. How can he not know. I ran water down the drain and immediately found out. He could have done that. I reminded I told him ahead of time. He refused to come out and hook it up and made all kinds of excuses. He said part of the piping was under the driveway. If he had listened to me from the start this would not have been a problem. He then sends out a plumber to find the old lines and misdiagnosed where they were. Anyways after a lot of fighting we had an agreement. He would come out and dig up the driveway and connect the pipes to the garage and I would pay another company to install new concrete after he tore it up. There were to be no charges because Otto blundered the job. His guys come out and dig up the pipes then claim a lift station is needed for thousands of dollars at least because the new system was installed higher than the old pipes. If he had listened to me about the garage in the beginning he could have made proper plans on installation to avoid a lift station. So it could not be hooked up and still is not hooked up. Why should we pay thousands for a lift station plus a new driveway just because Otto cannot think properly and is in dishonor. I later found out that his plumber misdiagnosed the location of the pipe from the garage to the new system. A lift station was not needed and they dug in the wrong place. Then this king of dishonor sends me a bill for digging up the driveway. He ignored the deal we had and decided to charge me anyways. We had NO written or verbal contract for any charges at all. It was supposed to be free due to his incompetence. He sends me a bill and of course I dispute it. He then hems and haws and comes up with all kinds of BS excuses and claims I agreed to pay him. I did NOT. Then he liens the house. This guy needs to be put out of business. I reported him. And while you may trust him as a builder I can tell you that there are many competitors of his that have honestly told me that he is not honest or trustworthy. He is not well liked from what I heard. All of this is just my opinion of course. Decide for yourself but in my opinion Otto is a powder keg. Never know what he will do and his word means less than nothing. Im a house flipper and we have flipped 50 homes in Albuquerque. We always called him in the past. Never again. He lost my business forever. We sold the house and fortunately the buyer was a builder and can handle hooking up the garage. I told him NOT to use AP. We dont ever have to call Otto to deal with that house again or anything else. Thank God. I have also told my story to all the builders and home owners I know. read more

My septic system drain field was 24 years old and stopped percolating several years ago, which meant that even with just 2 people, I had to have the tank pumped about every 10 months. Oto from American Pumping came to the house for a site inspection and discussed what had to be done. He sent an estimate to me the same day. About a month later (because the permit offices were closed for Covid) Senior and his son Junior arrived about 7am and got right to work trenching, etc.They finished the job about 4PM. They answered all my questions about the new system and offered help if I needed any. This system is great with new risers and 2 view ports plus a washable filter. Do NOT use these people. They did not install our septic system correctly initially and have come out now 3 times to correct the risers with no success and created further damage. You cannot trust their workers as they placed a plastic bag and debris to stuff a crack in our system which we would not have known had the tank not been dug up again. You have to babysit their workers to make sure they do the job right and not cut corners. We had an 8:30 am appointment and after 3 phone calls later to their office they finally showed up at 3 pm. They do not return responses to phone calls or emails in a timely fashion. Then they were kind enough to mail us an invoice when the job is still not complete!!! read more

We called American Pumping Service today (Sunday) for an emergency service. The person on the phone was so nice and helpful. Within 2 hours of making the phone call, our tank was pumped and we had our service back up. Tony came out and was awesome and helpful. The extra fee for an emergency service on Sunday was extremely reasonable- no price gouging from this company! We cannot thank them enough for helping us on such short notice. read more

I rarely write reviews but this company is so unethical and unprofessional i had to share my experience. I had a clogged kitchen drain and my plumber advised it needed to be snaked and so I called Amer Pumping who said they could be at my house that evening which was great since I have a newborn and need my kitchen sink. The tech arrived and he tried with 3 different tools over 2 hours but was unsuccessful and said the company would call me in the morning and to send someone else the next day with better tools. The next day i waited NO CALL. Another day passed I got a call for payment but not to schedule another service I told them I would not pay until it was fixed. I called another company who came out and fixed my issue within an hour with no problems. Today 1.5 weeks from when Amer Pumping came out they called for payment again, I offered to pay the afterhours fee only but not the service fee since they did not fix my issue. I requested to speak to the office manager and Robin got on the phone with me. She was very rude and said if I didn't pay they would put a lean on my property. When I tried to explain my experience, she simply said she would put the lean and hung up on me. How professional is that!? Please use caution if you choose to give this company business. read more

They were 2.5 hours late to pump my septic tank because the driver said they double booked him. Made me miss a doctor's appointment because I told the driver I had to leave in 30 minutes, but he blocked my garage so I couldn't move my car. They didn't send my credit card receipt by email like promised. I had to call a week after they charged my credit card to demand the receipt. Twice I asked to have the manager call me, but she never did. Today she hung up on me. Have always used American Pumping Service but they have lost their will to offer good customer service. They dropped the ball from beginning to end. Be very wary of any response from them to my review. read more
