My husbands electric mobility scooter bust whilst on honeymoon from the U.K. on longboat island. Found this company via google and Will was fantastic- he was able to diagnose the problem straight away and hired us one of his scooters whilst we waited for the part to be shipped. The part should of arrived 24hrs later however there was a problem with shipping via manufacturer. However, Will kept us informed and chased up the order making sure it was delivered the following day and kindly gave us an extra days rental for free. BUYERS BEWARE!!!! This is the worst company probably in the whole USA when it comes to quality and customer service. They apparently don't know what are those things.. I bought a 2008 Chevy Uplander for company use. It's a wheelchair van. The sales guy was nice at the beginning but rushed me into the decision which was not a problem since it all looked good at that time. Well, you see I have been shown an Autocheck report and that was clear. For my question whether the vehicle was involved in accident of any kind I been told like No, never. It's a clean car with 74K miles. Okay, so I paid it off. Next day the van's battery and charging system died. I did some research on the web so I understood that this is pretty much a common issue for these vehicles, but I'd been told it's okay now they fixed the problem. No big deal. Great. I was a little bit worried though, so I decided to run the Carfax on the van as I always use them. Surprise surprise... !!!!The car was indeed in an accident in 2009 as I collected the law enforcement report, too. Plus the last reported mileage was 123K and not 74K. So I got really frustrated and I called the sales guy to find out what's going on. Well, he did not know much about that but he put me in touch with the owner John Vath. The guy told me when he heard my problem that I am completely wrong and maybe I did put a wrong VIN at carfax. At the very first conversations of his customer he was clearly arrogant. Well, sure I am an idiot... No I put the RIGHT VIN. I did my own investigation on the van, last oil change place where the mileage was reported to be 123k. Funny but the report says the odometer was not working at the time of service. I got no idea where they get the 123k from. neither the technician could not tell me how they came up with this number. So it's part of the story that I have the basis to believe the number is not 123 but 74K. And since then I have the previous owner statement about the correct odometer reading. Good enough, but CARFAX still has 123K recorded. Well after all I achieved something. Which wouldn't be my job at all to go through all of these investigations. Never mind, I kept investigating on the accident which was a collision causing 2K damage on the van back in 2009. This was sold to me as an ACCIDENT FREE van... Wow. Next day I called again, now that's the real stuff started. He was shouting and yelling on me who just spent 20k on a lemon and accused me of accusing him with odometer rollback and other horrible things. I never accused him with anything I just wanted to know why I have been not informed properly, more clearly why I been deceived. I was polite and respectful as always as I called him for a solution. His solution was cursing shouting and blaming me for my accent, calling me unfamiliar with US law and etc. I was the one to be blamed. Another great example of rip off and ZERO customer service or problem solving skills. Then they warned the sales guy if he talks again with me he might have problems... Wow.. What is that a Maffia? The sales guy is simply rejecting to answer my calls. Even today I called him several times but no answer. Wow... Customer service... At its best. Is it John? So I tried to talk to the owners wife. She is also in the business. Quite frankly she was the only one who put some efforts in this whole shameful situation but at the end she sent me an email saying that her husband is the decision maker. Wow. That's another nothing....thank you for allowing me spending almost 20K on a wreck. Today I had the pleasure to talk to the company's sales manager or whoever. I wanted to speak to the owner's wife but allegedly she was not there. This sales director or whoever She is even more arrogant then any of them, she does not denied that I have been deceived, ( by the sales person) but she feels they done everything to correct the mistake. What? Really? They are simply washing their hands and allow themselves to talk to their customers If I were a complete idiot. Well, this sales manager picked on my accent, too. It seems so that they don't like people with accent. Outrageous!! Now I am about to sue them big time, unless they come up with a satisfactory solution for this problem. Instead of washing their hands and blaming everything and everyone they can. Negligence cannot be an excuse for this. I feel ripped off and treated as some stupid third world country folks which I am not. If they correct the mess I come back and let you know about it, as of course that would be the part of the story. At the moment I am refusing to remove the van from the store's parking lot ( as they may say anything afterwards) and going into some serious dispute with them. At this point I can truly suggest you to avoid dealing with them. If I am proved to be wrong I come back and apologize. But damage has been done, and they way I have been treated was outrageous and shameful. They owe me some money and an apology. read more

John the owner, told me he would purchase my wheelchair lift after husband passed. It was not very old and the cost was a lot, it was the platform elevator lift, and stairs with deck. After months of back and forth setting up times for him to come to my home and him never showing up he finally sent a person to pick up entire unit and he was going to pay me as with a check from John. The man came, looked at unit and said all it needed was a fuse, took unit but didn't have a check so John said he would send me check. I have called, texted, left messages repeatedly and everytime John says yup he would send check. It has been over 8 months nothing from him and now he will not return my calls. I have been very patient and this whole ordeal has been very sad. I loss my husband and this man said he would help me but he lied. I would never do business with him and I will be contacting BB and Yelp. read more

We traveld to Sarasota for a reunion for veterans. I rented the scooter for my father who can not walk long distances. We were going to be walking around museums and knew he wouldn't be able to endure the whole day. I originally was renting from another company but they only serviced Tampa. Did not deliver. So I rented from American Mobility. I did feel like I was renting from a mom and pop shop. When I called, I was put on hold several times, then assigned to a younger gentleman. Who took my info down, including my CC# and told me they "got it". I asked for an email confirmation of my rental agreement. "Sure, no problem". I never received one. I called back a few weeks later, just prior to our trip for a follow up since I hadn't received the confirmation - "yes, we have your rental . . . . I call you back, I'm with a customer" as he went to hang up - "Wait, you don't have my number" "Oh yes, what is your number" I told him, all I wanted was an email with the rental agreement. "Ok, I'll send that today". Never did I get an agreement. Getting on our trip was such an achievement, I thought - Ok . . . if I have no scooter waiting for me at the hotel - oh well, I'll figure something out. As I'm getting on my flight, they called me to ask me if they could deliver the scooter that day and to get the hotel phone number (day earlier - it was Friday, obviously more convenient) I let him know, I really didn't care, I was getting on a flight - but I was upset that I really wanted a receipt - and I was worried that now they're delivering and if there are other charges Im not aware of - I'm in possession of this scooter and I don't like surprises. I wanted the agreement before I rented officially. He explained they've been so busy - 1st I don't care, 2nd I know, constantly putting me on hold, and not calling me back. I just don't like operating that way. Fine, I'm getting on a flight, just deliver the scooter. He told me the agreement would be with the scooter. Hard copy - hmmmm it dawned on me they are not capable of emailing me the receipt - old school probably. Why didn't they just explain that??? They could have mailed me the receipt. I reserved the unit a good month prior to our trip to be sure. The scooter was supposed to be able to taken apart and folded down so I could lift into that back of a trunk. * I could put in the back of trunk. We rented a Chevrolet Captiva. However, I couldn't figure out how to completely take apart the unit. I had a guy from the hotel help me too. Neither of us are stupid. I could take off the back wheels, put never could I figure out the seat part. So we lifted the unit into the car, it was pretty heavy. * Yes, all the parts were there, and the charger. The unit was nice and new. Actually very nice.Clean. * A guy did call me day three to ask how the unit was going, I told him we could never figure out how to break it down. He told me to go on you tube there is a video. We ended up never using it. My dad walked the whole time - because it was a hassle. My dad did go to the ER one day for being too fatigue. Now it's not because of the scooter - no way am I saying that. But it did add to the whole mess. OVER ALL - there a little behind the times for customer service. Dealing with complete strangers, they should do a little more to reassure customers are in good hands. Email confirmations, with a "you-tube" video. Picture of unit in the back of a care etc. . . . My receipt had my ENTIRE credit card number ## HAND written on receipt - sitting on the unit in the lobby of the hotel!!!!! Could have at least put it in an envelope. sheeze. An absolutely NO NO. Did they show up? yes, Did I get t he unit I paid for? yes, Was it nice? yes It was the little things, that would make me not rent with them again. Want to talk about a rude associate??!!! We called them today to inquire about renting a wheelchair (motorized) for a weekend so that we could go to the mall to get my husband out of the house. When my husband said that he was looking for a motorized one because manually moving himself around for 2 or 3 hours would be tiring, the asinine associate told him he should be grateful he has arms to do that. When my husband questioned why he would say something like that, and be rude about it, the guy hung up on him. I would never EVER recommend this company to anyone. I ordered a part for my mother's stair lifter (a plastic 8' chain guide at $20 a foot) in the hope that it would fix the problem with the lifter. The part did not fix the stair riser, and I wanted to return the part (1 day after receipt of it). When I called the co. to inquire where to send it back, I was told there are no refunds. I said I was not told this when I purchased it on the phone and was told that it is their policy not to give refunds. When I told him I never saw any policy he said he'd send it to me (he never did). I am not happy with their customer service and am disputing the purchase since it does me no good and cost a bit of money ($195). The stair lifter cannot be fixed as it is an outdated stair riser and the company that sold it to me on line (AmeriGlide) does not provide support for their product once you purchase it. And forget about getting parts for it. read more

Buyer Beware! My mother purchased a unit from these crooks. PJ the salesman and John the owner are absolutely the most dishonest individuals in the business. The unit in stock was not large enough to fit my father so they needed to order a larger unit as they did not have it in stock. When this unit came in, it did not fit as well and they said "Sorry, no returns". PJ said the chart said that unit would fit and it was a "special Order" and no returns. The "contract" does not state a return policy or state no returns anywhere on it. The contract was also never signed. Almost one year later they still have not returned the funds and they have the unit. $1700 paid for a chair that does not fit and have not refunded the amount paid. Numerous calls have been made without success and as the owner himself condones this behavior it is clearly a case of profits over customers.
