I reviewed this dental practice back in 2017 after a negative experience. I am happy to say that things have improved, though there is still room for more. I believe I saw Dr Nguyen, but it's hard to say because he is masked all the time and never introduced himself; neither do the the hygienists or the desk staff ever mention his name. Odd, but he's a good dentist, so I guess that's all right. My only complaint is that the wait times between appointments are woefully long; I have had two cleanings with outstanding work still needing doing and will probably have another before my issues are completely resolved. Also, getting prescriptions out of them is a hassle; I have extremely sensitive teeth on the left side of my mouth and one time they gave me something for the pain and refused to refill it so I had to go to my PCP; same deal for antibiotics because the dentist said no problems showed on the x-rays. read more

In my entire 60 years I've never dealt with a worse dental group than these guys. The. Worst. Over the few years we went to them they repeatedly neglected to send in prescriptions for antibiotics (needed before certain dental procedures), specialized toothpaste, mouth wash for gum issues, the list goes on. We'd check with the pharmacy and they'd tell us they didn't receive anything. We'd call the dentist and they'd tell us it was sent in...it was never sent in. Additionally, trying to call to get an appointment or cancel an appt. Is all but impossible...unless you have 15-20 minutes to stay on the phone listening to their hold music. After getting sick I had to cancel an appt as I didn't want to get anyone else sick. I called numerous times two days before the scheduled appt. and never got through. I finally left a message. Apparently they don't listen to those because the day after my scheduled appt they called to tell me I was no longer their patient. Now we're left without a dentist (probably for the best because they're terrible) but hopefully this will save others from their terrible treatment. Now I have two cracked molars, haven't been able to eat for 3 days due to pain and they refused to give me a referral to see another dentist so I can get them pulled out! I can't believe what amazing work Dr. Loc Nguyen did! My 2 front teeth were literally deteriorating to the point it was painful to smile not to mention embarrassing. I didn't have any of the problems, that I read in the negative reviews. Front office staff was professional and courteous. The dentist I saw was professional and very informative. He offer two possible options for treatment on a back molar problem. We are waiting to see what my insurance comes back with. read more

If you are reading this, go directly to search a different dental office. I took my 96 year old Mother to an initial appointment. Sitting 2 rooms away I could hear everything the hygienist was saying to my Mom, so I went to the room and told the hygienist. Her response was "she has to hear me". My Mom said, "But everyone else doesn't need to hear" Mom has hearing aids that work. Because I could hear, I went to the exam room to STOP a full set X-rays knowing that was expensive and unnecessary. The doctor came in to consult and did NOT introduce himself. I again heard everything he said along with the other 2 people in the waiting room. Apparently this office missed the courses on patient confidentiality. We left with an appointment for 3 weeks later with a different dentist but of course that information wasn't given until we asked Who the follow up appointment was with. A few days later Mom canceled the follow up appointment by leaving a message. A few more days later I went to the office to be sure the appointment was canceled. This morning my mother got a message from the office to confirm the appointment and said she had until 11AM today to cancel or she would be charged . I physically went to the office to cancel the appointment and the receptionist argued with me about the pronunciation of my mothers first name.....for real! Focus please! "I want to ensure that my mother will not be charged for a canceled appointment." receptionist: "I didn't get the message." "I'm telling you to cancel the appointment. My experience was good. As a new client, I was surprised to land a next day appointement for cleaning. Their assessment for a problem tooth was quickly approved by my ins. co. Horrible customer service. I called to cancel/reschedule an appointment, no answer, left a message. No response. Try to call back, no answer. Weeks later I finally get a hold of them and they say that I was a new patient and "missed" the appointment so now they can't even take me on as a patient "as per company policy." THE ABSOLUTE WORSE EVER HAS TO BE THE ONE IN NORWICH.............couldnt get them on the phone, no calls back so i walked down there, was in terrible pain, did get an appt, it snowed on that day and i couldnt get in there, called again 4 times, no call back and the last time no answering machine, kept calling and was then told that because i missed the appt that i now had to wait six months.....i firmly believe that one person at a very busy front desk is not enough and that she can not handle the volume and doesnt tell anyone in there for fear that they will find her incompetent. Luckily someone bothered to answer phone the day of scheduled cleaning only to find out the hygienist who wrote out the appointment card hadn't put it in the computer and she had the day off anyway. I needed an emergency extraction, no one in my area would help me, so I found American mobile dental and I am so happy, even after having a tooth pulled. Staff are so nice and accomodating. Highly recommend. Will drive 2hrs again for that kind service. read more

This place is horrible, they did permanent damage to my husbands tooth and had to fix it once, and now are refusing to do so again because he missed an appointment. I had a bad experience with American Mobile Dental in Oneonta, NY. I made an appointment to have new upper dentures made. When I got there the receptionist, Jessica, was arguing with the insurance company on the phone. Her phone manners are atrocious. Then they told me there was a one year waiting period for my insurance to cover major items such as dentures. The dentist, Dr. Nelson said I could still have an exam and xrays which are covered by my insurance but that there was an office co pay. I declined and left. I called my insurance company and they assured me that there was no co pay and there was no one year waiting period. I called American Mobile Dental and Jessica, the receptionist argued with me that I must have misunderstood the dentist about the co pay. She started getting really rude on the phone. Then she wouldn't listen when I told her the insurance company assured me there was no waiting period for major dental work. Even though it means I will have to drive an hour to get to another dentist that is in my network, I will not go back to American Mobile Dental because of the receptionist's lousy attitude and the way she treats patients. read more

I love going to American Mobile Dental for my dental needs. The review below me does not sound like the office that I know at all. Dr. Nelson and his entire staff are always very pleasant and very respectful. Dr. Nelson is the best dentist I have ever been to! He is gentile, funny, respectful and skilled. The girls up front always go above and beyond for the patients. My family and I have never been treated with anything but respect and understanding from the staff there. Their phone manners are always very professional and they are very knowledgable with all our insurance questions. It is a very busy office and their staff are clearly overworked and stressed at times with the amount of patients they see. Ive seen the receptionists take a great deal in stride. Appointments are difficult to get, but that makes sense since the quality of Dr. Nelsons work is so excellent. read more

I had such an awful experience going here today!! It was fine checking in but once the hygienist called my name forget about it!! She didn't say 2 words to me!! No one bothered telling me what was being done or anything. I had 3 appts set up. 2 with hygienists and one with a dentist. Anyways, I get layed all the way back, the dentist comes in and tells me to open and jabs a needle in my gums. (This guy never introduced himself or even said hello!!) I was left to sit there for 10 minutes wondering what the hell was going on. I asked the hygienist and she says I'm getting a filling. I didn't get to look at or talk to the dentist OR hygentist. I pulled the suction tube out so I could ask the dentist a question and I got a dirty look and no answer. I was left there to spit all the shit out of my mouth cause no one bothered to give me water to swish around or anything. THEN came time to schedule a new appt. the girl at the desk argued with me when I told her I have another appt next week. Not a fun experience! I've never been treated like that before! I usually have a good time talking and laughing with people there but today was horrible!! Last appt they want to pull a tooth, this time the dentist tells the hygienist to check with my insurance about an RTC? It means root canal!! That dentist didn't tell me that? Why?
