I felt comfort and relief and cared for and I was seen within 20 mins of checking in. I was in extreme pain 8/10 due to a bad tooth infection that had been hurting me all week until I could not bare the pain any longer. I'm able to come home pain free and get this taken care of tomorrow at a dentist. I also got 3 days off work note and I didn't even ask so that was also awesome. This was the best experience I've had going to the emergency room. I don't have insurance at the moment and that's no problem they will be billing me. I went to two other emergency rooms and was told to pay up front before being seen which I understand but was not able to pay hundreds of dollars this day.

The order was in, but the staff simply was not available to provide the drip install. Also, pay close attention to your bill. While my surgeon and the hospital were in-network, they selected to use an out-of-network componenet to my care. I was not told about this and was billed out of network while staying in the hospital for that part. Thank god for the No Surprises Act, making the charges only $700 vs the thousands of additional dollars in the bill. But I was not told about this until more than a year later. So even though my surgery took me well over my more than $5,000 max out of pocket, I now have to pay an additional $700. Add into that... I was sent a letter so much later that I can't even appeal it with my insurance. Extrmely shady practice. Very disappointed and would not recommend this hospital.

After waiting an hour past my appointment time, I saw the PA, who was nice enough but clearly rushing from appointment to appointment. I had blood work done and a follow-up appt was set up in two weeks to go over results. At my follow-up, I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes in the exam room before the PA could see me. She again seemed rushed and flustered. The first thing she told me after apologizing for running behind was that I could access my lab results online. She had little more to say about my lab results. It easily could have been addressed in a phone call, but we still needed to do x-rays because the machine was down during my first visit. Based on the X-rays that day, the PA ordered more blood work and set up a third visit -- this time with Dr. Graciela Leija. Between the second and third appts, I called the clinic multiple times, trying to get details on what my out-of-pocket costs would be so far. I was told the person who does the coding hadn't gotten to my paperwork yet and I should call back. The following week I asked to speak to the billing dept, and I finally got a call back a few days later. The person in billing told me there was no billing activity under my name and she couldn't explain why. This was after two visits, two blood panels and a set of X-rays. I asked the clinic if I could just do a phone call instead of a third appointment, but I was told they don't do phone calls. Even though I was concerned about what it was costing me, I went in for a third appt and met with Dr. Leija. I waited 1.5 hours past my appointment time before I got in for a bone density test and then another hour before I saw Dr. Leija. She spent maybe 5 minutes with me. It was her first time to meet/examine me. She had no questions for me, and I didn't even get on the exam table. We were supposed to discuss the results of the X-rays, blood work and bone density test results. Instead, Leija repeated information I'd already heard from the PA during my second visit. She said she wanted to refer me to a couple specialists and send in a prescription. When I asked more clarifying questions, she seemed impatient with me, and I didn't hear any clarity in her brief answers. She kept shuffling her paperwork like she was ready to wrap things up and get to her next patient. When I asked her about the bone density results, she pointed to the paperwork in my hand and said it's all summarized there. I could read it. When I told her my concerns about what all this was costing me, she said that was handled by a different department and shrugged her shoulders as she exited the exam room. After picking up the new prescription, I read the insert to learn about the drug and discovered I have two conditions that indicate I should either not take the drug or talk with a doctor before taking it. Leija would have known this if she had reviewed my chart for medications I'm currently taking or asked me if I'm having any dental work done in the coming weeks. My plan is to transfer all my labs, x-rays and test results to a more competent, trustworthy doctor. The one silver lining is that the Eastside Clinic lab techs and nurses are very personable and good at what they do. I hope they get to work for a physician who is worthy of them someday.

I think in all the times I have come here only twice have I been called back significantly late from my appointment time. Normally I'm called on time or maybe five minutes after max. The front desk runs like a well oiled machine, and everyone is friendly. Oh! Parking can get tricky, but I can usually find a spot, give your self some time to park and walk up if you end up outside the parking lot.

The other clinics around Buda/ Killeen felt more like weight watchers, or it works, agents.

So, I initially thought I'd come here to express my surprise and gratitude for the care I received…read morewhen I first decided to come to Austin ER last October. I went to a different urgent care closer to UT campus on Red River, and when they were chock full of college kids, I decided an ER that wasn't attached to a hospital was worth it given the upper abdominal pain I was feeling. APD was there when I arrived, as someone had smashed through a window, but despite the delay, they were nice and got me back to a room, an offsite ultrasound tech was called, and I was given Torodol and told I had a gallstone that may or may not cause me issues in the future. Happy to have answers, and ready to go home, I waited to be sent home. So this is when in retrospect it all went downhill. Shifts had changed, someone else came to remove my IV. After "ripping the bandaid off" which was an IV in this case, and telling me they "couldn't let me go home with my insides on my outside", they wiped away the red chunks that came out with my IV and sent me home. No worries - I had answers and it was a nice cozy room and they had brought me a warm blanket. Fast forward to a few days later, a red streak started to show up on my arm, and I started feeling a muscle pain that kept me from bending my arm. A few google searches and texts to my NP of a mother in law later, and I knew I should probably get it looked at. My partner and I were going to the Mueller HEB the following weekend, so I decided to stop by and ask if I should be concerned. The front desk told me they saw that I had been in the previous weekend, and to have a seat and they'd get my arm checked out. The doctor told me the IV had cause a blood clot in my arm, I needed hot compresses, some motrin and an Ace Bandage. Thankful it wasn't something more serious, I walked to the front desk, and asked them if I owed anything - I was told "no". I was extra grateful they weren't going to charge me for follow up for something cause by my initial visit. Fast forward, I get a bill for over $600 AFTER INSURANCE for an ace bandage and some motrin, for something that was a result of seeking care at this institution and being told I owed nothing. Assuming it was some sort of mistake, I called the ER, was told to call billing, was told to call the ER back, that they would have to tag it as a follow up, and then I wouldn't be billed. Called back, was told it couldn't be a follow up if it was more than a day or two later, explained I was told I wouldn't be charged as it was because of the IV being ripped out of my arm that I came back in the first place. Was told to call billing again, was told to call the ER again, have been told two or three times a lead would call me. At this point, I experienced pain in my arm for two months that kept me from being able to extend my arm, have called/been told multiple times someone would call me back, have not received one return call but have been sent multiple bills. The last time I was told a lead would contact me was last week... this started last October. Honestly just looking to talk to someone who can make this right and feeling driving to the point of writing a review to get it sorted. Avoid if possible.
