My wife hadn't had a lot of boating experience and this was our first boat so it was a real gamble to commit this much money but we took the plunge and had a bunch of 'newbie' issues trailering, at the launch, docking, pulling out of winter storage, etc. and she has been ready to sell it several times but every time I've called the shop Tommy (or occasionally another shop person) has been INCREDIBLY patient and helpful and there have been a few little things that they have fixed, corrected, or helped us figure out without any judgement or questions. They kept the boat for over a month and then finally when they called me back, explained what they thought it was and also admitted that they didn't have experience fixing it, but thought they could do it. They wanted to order an aftermarket part and quoted me more than for an original OEM. When I decided to pick up the boat and take it to someone with more experience with those issues, they billed me $255 and flat out said all they did was start it up and listen to it. Nothing else, not even summarized or anything. I was so disappointed with how unreasonable it was. i've had multiple other dealerships agree that charging me $255 for a diagnostic when they only cranked it up and listened to it is ridiculous. What's even worse is that other mechanics have told me that there is no way they could confirm what they're stating by only cranking and listening to it.
