I absolutely love this place. It provides such awesome amenities for Westerville residents! (And…read moreopen to the public). We have a family pass for my family of 4 and it's a great place to come any month of the year. Swimming at the watering hole- 2 large pools, one side for lap lanes and diving teams to practice the other side for children which include a water slide, lazy river, water playground for toddlers. A smaller swim area which is a little deeper, a tornado in the lazy river and a hot tub. This is a great place to bring the children and run their energy out. They have a blast every time! They do offer swimming lessons as well and water aerobics for adults. The gymnasium- excellent place for open gym basketball and to play pick up basketball games for adults. Many sports the center offers such as tennis, volleyball and a few others that require you to sign up/pay in advance. The work out facility- very clean kept with a track that loops around the top. Excellent place for adults to weight lift and work on cardio. Children under age of 16 not allowed in this area. If you have small children they do offer the sprouts room downstairs in which you pay to have your children watched. The room offers activities and toys for children. I believe the limit is 2 hours per stay. Climbing wall- open climbing offered certain hours and they have a climbing club. You can see the climbing wall as soon as you walk in. Playground- playground for children over looking the pool. Offers a good amount of seating for parents to sit while children play. Many classrooms on the backend that offer Zumba classes, karate, art classes, classes for the super young and classes for the elderly. You pay for these classes and can be found in their program book. Awesome place that brings the community together. When I was growing up all we had close by was the Dublin Rec center and this place knocks it out of the water. Family memberships are totally worth it. They will be expanding this location within the next coming year or so .

I took the Fearless Falling class, held between 3:00 to 4:00 on Wednesdays and I learned so much. The senior lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays is only $4; you may choose to dine in or takeaway. Near the dining hall sits a huge cabinet filled with puzzles ranging from 300 to 1,000 pieces. Their generous policy is that you may bring puzzles or take as many puzzles as you like. The pool tables are always in use by smiling gentlemen and ladies. There is a quilt drop-in a couple of days a week. I'm impressed with how upbeat and cheery everyone is and I'm glad the city has created such a welcoming space for its seniors.

I've recently discovered what this mysteriously beautiful, intriguing building is all about. Having…read moredriven by it several times, and noticing the art installation and gardens, I was curious but never had a good reason to stop by and investigate. However, ever since I started following Art Equals on social media, I discovered that there are events open to public inside the Hellman Creative Center. It's not just Artist Studios, as the sign would suggest. And, as it turns out, I am a big fan! Open, inviting, and clean, the inside of this historic building has been beautifully renovated. There is a large meeting/conference room just off the lobby. Beyond that, there are artists' studios and a small kitchenette. I attended a Zine Lab with Art Equals and had a fantastic time learning about Zines and creating one of my one. Stop by and take part in this excellent addition to the art scene in Covington.

This building was originally a sawmill and has been beautifully redesigned as a community space, spot for artists, and people who do good in the community (refugee settlement, help with taxes, cross-cultural training, learning how to respond to conflict, etc.). My favorite space, besides the community rooms, is Empower Tools. This is a free service for those with a Kenton County library card. An individual can rent tools for their art, lawn, home repair, moving supplies, or pruning needs. You have up to 3 tools for a week, without the need to maintain them. Perfect for someone like me who struggles with all the oils and fine tuning of home equipment!

Hellman Creative Center - I could photograph this building all day. Covington does a great job of saving historic structures.
