And I should know better than others that not all VFW's are the same or equal. Some have restaurant and bar inside, some are a building that's rented for events, and some just have a flag sitting out on a memorial. I have been for a long time what they call a member at large in California. That means I don't have any one post that I go to in particular. However I found 1 in the city of Beni shake California that's absolutely exquisite with wonderful people and lots of events throughout the year. The you're. This fits what I'm looking for in a group that is forward moving forward thinking. The last time I went they were having I believed the Memorial Day festivities it was wonderful with the barbecue and food people being happy and smiling and telling stories and surrounded by veterans of different wars and we all have a common thread which is our particular story is different but the reason we were there wasn't. I highly recommend this organization to all veterans of foreign wars.

While they're part…read moreof the larger VFW organization, the SSF Post does a lot of volunteer work in the community, both in SSF and the greater Bay Area. Every year these guys host a Veterans Day Luncheon at the Palo Alto VA hospital for injured, hospitalized vets, they coordinate and largely fund a special day at the San Francisco Zoo for disabled and injured vets and their caregivers, they run essay contests in the local SSF schools that provide the winners with college scholarships, and they provide assistance to local National Guard and Reserve units that deploy. Overall, this is a great group of people who do a ton of hard work for our vets and the community.

When CWA stopped having their annual dinner there I missed the joint. I have been a member for about three or four years now and have really enjoyed my membership. Its a nice lodge and they are always working to improve it. Great group of folks who all like to have some good clean fun. Lots of hard workers that's for sure. Nice full bar / social quarters and separate banquet hall that always seems to be put to good use. The Hall itself can be rented, complete with catering, by members for their own gatherings. They promote and support various groups within the community that don't have their own place to meet like the Bon Tempo Club and the 4-H and so on, and so on, and so on. Hot meals 2 x each week and they actually have Wednesday leftover night where members eat leftovers for free! They have a annual car show, chili cook-off, weekly bingo & poker, darts, pool table, dances, Friday night Karaoke ....They have something special planned for every holiday that you can think of !!! Supported by the Moose International is Moose-heart, a huge facility in Illinois that takes in children in need and gives them a home and an education...not to mention many other fine deeds. I am a paid member, she's a volunteer bartender and she should know her place. I am NOT the reason everyone had to leave from the back, and the police never came there from when i clipped a parked car, she can verify that with a HAMC members wife. Or better yet, I'll have the wife come visit her and straighten that right out. She's a nasty woman with a bad attitude. She should stay out of other peoples business and if she wants to say something to act like an adult and get her facts straight by coming up to me instead of hiding behind the bar. Misery loves company reigns true with lonely bitter women. She should have to be present at the board meeting, where I'll be with all the people she's been saying her lies to. Confront it head on and see who's starting trouble. It isn't me.
