At its core, ASYMCA Hampton Roads focuses on fostering connection, resilience, and opportunity for military members and their loved ones by providing supportive services that enhance well-being in spirit, mind, and body. Programs span child development, education, and family support with offerings like Operation Little Learners -- an interactive early education and development initiative for toddlers and preschool-aged children -- plus before & after-school care, engaging summer camps, and fun family events throughout the year. These programs are designed to build confidence and community while alleviating stresses often associated with military life, such as frequent moves or deployment cycles. Beyond youth enrichment, ASYMCA Hampton Roads runs annual community building events, emergency services like Patriot's Pantry (providing food and basic supplies at no cost to active duty families), and specialized assistance like Operation Ride Home, which helps military families with holiday travel expenses. With a focus on meeting real military-family needs and filling gaps in support networks, this organization partners with installation leadership and community groups to create accessible, impactful programs for all who serve.

When you enter you have to check in and out. There are different sections based on the needs of the patients, like memory care, rehab, long term stays, and etc. They have coffee at the entrance for guest and sometimes have muffins and pastries. The residents have a good sized modern room with a TV, bed, and desk. There's also a spacious bathroom with a walk in shower and cabinets and drawers come with each room. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The family members can choose to eat there also for a fee for each meal. They also have different activities and events for the residents. Cute little luau's, petting zoo, karaoke, games, and etc. There's also vending machines on site. They have pickup/driver services if your loved one needs transport. There are nurses and cna's available on each wing. Most of the staff is friendly. I didn't favor the director Andrell. For her position, you'd think she'd make guest feel welcome. But my first interaction with her, she was rude and condescending!! I truly hope someone will bring to her attention that her brash and unfriendly demeanor should be corrected as she is a higher up at this business!! This is probably one of the better facilities in the area, but there is still room for improvement. As they are short staffed at times. Family members are welcomed 24 hours, but after 6pm you'll have to ring the side doorbell for access. The parking lot and facility is spacious! They have rocking chairs out front for lounging. There's also onsite physical therapy. The therapist I met seemed professional and nice. The Cna's and nurses make rounds to change the patients, bath then, take vital signs, and administer medication. They also offer alternative food options, if your loved one has dietary restrictions, such as pureed meals.. All in all the facility is nice and you can be comforted knowing your family member is taken care of. Check them out!!

From beginning to end, my experience was fabulous. They really take care of you here. I came here…read morebecause my medical coverage had expired, and my semi-annual HIV/STI Testing was due. I was approached by a sweet and very informative woman named Michelle, who offered additional free services while waiting. Unbeknownst to me, not only does this center offer HIV/STI testing, but there are other services where you can see a dentist to check your oral health, check your eyes (they offer free reading or sunglasses, and you can even sign up to receive food. It looked more like a mini food pantry in one of the rooms. Seeing the dentist was a bit strange. In one large room, there was a receptionist, patients (waiting area), X-ray technician, and dentist. A bit too much going on for me, but everything went well. There is absolute no privacy curtain, so everyone will see you. The dentist was fantastic and friendly. Taking the HIV/STI exam was simple. You fill out your information on a pad, then Pito took me to sit in a private room. You have a choice whether to take your STI test via oral/genitals/anal depending on what you do behind closed doors or open. HIV test was rapid. Results appeared in 60 seconds. Other test results are viewed on a portal system. My experience and service were great here. 5 stars.
