It was 26 miles or so but took almost 40 minutes to get to and from. There was valet out front but we just self parked. The front desk staff was very welcoming and gave us all the details about the hotel and casino. You use your key card to activate the elevator to get up to your room. Even in the hallways up to the rooms, you really couldn't hear the noise from the casino level below. The room itself was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The tv was nice and large and was supposed to chrome cast for streaming, but after trying for a while, we gave up and just watched the basic cable. The coffee bar, fridge and microwave were separate from the bathroom, which I always appreciate. The shower was big and open with nice, steady water pressure. We were surprised that the breakfast buffet came with the room in the morning. Everything we had read said it was $16 a person and we're just planning to grab something back in town. We took our voucher down to the cafe area and they seat you like at a sit down restaurant. We were a little confused at first, but then a buffet staff member came over and said that there was a made to order menu which cost money like a traditional restaurant, or the buffet option. They also said all drinks were for purchase (except water). From other hotels we've been to usually the juice and coffee is part of the buffet, but it wasn't. The food on the buffet was pretty standard continental breakfast offerings; eggs, bacon, potatoes, breads and pastries, oatmeal. They had a blue corn mush, and that was not for me but at least we tried it. We also didn't really know if we were supposed to leave our dishes or clear them. Everyone around us just left theirs on the table, so we left ours with a small cash tip.

The exhibits are fascinating, covering everything from the geology of Northern Arizona to the region's wildlife and the rich history and cultures of the Native peoples. The museum sits on beautiful natural grounds that are worth walking through as well. We brought our 18-month-old, 3-year-old, and 5-year-old, and all of them had a great time while actually learning a lot. There are so many interactive elements, including an animal scavenger hunt, pull-out drawers throughout the exhibits, videos, and hands-on displays you can touch. There's also a discovery area with books and toys that our kids absolutely loved. We spent about two hours here, and it was time well spent. If you're visiting Flagstaff, or even if you've been coming here for years like I have, don't make the mistake of overlooking this gem. It was HOT, dirt filled and not the same vibe as in years past. We still enjoyed the march of the Clans, the band's that played and the occasional performance. The beer is some of our favorite, but even this year it kind of missed the mark. Lines were slow and crammed in the back of performance areas and the beer wasn't as cold as it should have been. Plus, it seems every year it gets more and more pricey. $20 per adult for entry, $5 per kid 2 and older! Plus food isn't anything spectacular and adult beverages are $7! There was a little vendor tent from the local Mason Lodge that had water and little ice creams for $1 and we stopped there three times! I really hope they find a way to move it back or at least find another grassy venue.
