I visited the American Legion with a group of friends and members for the Hawg Daze of Summer Ride…read moreon June 22nd 2024. The event helps to raise money for the American Legion all while creating a fun time for all the riders participating. It's $20 to attend the event, which also enters you into the poker run (draw 4 chips with a number referencing a specific card). There are five stops: the first and last is the American Legion in Mount Dora, the second was Rock Springs Bar and Grill in Apopka, the third was JJ's Lounge in Sorrento, and the fourth was Crossroads 44 Music & Sports Bar in Eustis. This was a breakaway ride meaning you can break away from the group and go to which ever stop you want to go first. Basically it's a blast if you're a motorcycle rider. Breatfast is served from 8-10am for $6 more. It includes coffee, juice, and a breakfast burrito. The Legion Members provide a safety briefing, and wonderful prayer before kickstands up at 1030am. Most riders stay at each stop about 30-minutes or so before moving on to the next one Once back to the Legion, lunch was served as part of the poker run (12-2pm). Today was pulled pork or chicken sandwiches with baked beans and coleslaw, you could add French fries for $6 more. They Legion also secured Driven, a great local band who plays Rock and some Metal; great group of talented kids!! The Legion also had a variety of baskets available we could win with a raffle ticket drawing, and second raffle where you could win the raffle-pot. Most of the time I see the winners donate the winnings right back into the American Legion, which is a great way to give back. This American Legion Post is quite spacious and is very clean. There are several pool tables and other games available. They played a lot of great music while we were here, the bar is nice and the drinks were fairly priced. I highly recommend visiting this Post if you're ever in the area, it's well worth the stop.

There's lots of cool murals on the walls, and bingo runs well. It's got a real "family" atmosphere, you can tell they all really enjoy being there. It's a great place to go and support, and we look forward to playing bingo there again!

I have had several meals and each one has hit like a homemade meal. Baked Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. They also serve it with a croissant and butter. It's great to have food that feels homemade in an unlikely spot like a Bingo Hall!

Rule #1 of Bingo: Show up on time. This isn't a drop in anytime arrangement. If you come too late…read moreyou won't be allowed to play. You pay the initial cost for a packet of games for the whole night, and there are additional games that you can buy that don't come in the main packet. You can leave whenever you want, but since you've paid for the whole night you might as well settle in and get your money's worth. There's also scratch off games and raffle tickets available. It can feel kind of nickel-and-dimey at first, but anything beyond the main packet is optional. The people here are serious about their bingo. This isn't like casual bingo at a restaurant or bowling alley where you can carry on casually with your friends. Sit down and keep your conversations to a barely audible whisper. There are plenty of monitors for you to see what numbers have been called, but there are some seats that have an obstructed view, or are at a bad angle, so keep that in mind. There's also food available for purchase. I tried the grilled chicken. It was overcooked; I wouldn't get it again. They were out of brats, so that's probably the better choice. There's also lighter snacks and dessert choices. I'll stick with those next time.

I really was not sure what to expect and they were incredibly helpful and friendly taking their time to make sure I was comfortable and understood the games. Very nice payouts. I would recommend coming early to make sure you allow enough time to set yourself up with all of the cards and the games that you will be playing. The chairs are very well cushioned and have a lot of padding and the tables actually have quite a bit of room for you to spread out . The only thing I would say that I found difficult is that they have a smoking section, which is separated by a large glass partition however you can still smell some of the smoke in the non-smoking area.

Okay...so I'm starting this off with the disclaimer that I haven't been called in for anything or…read morebooked YET....BUT this agency is great. I attended their open call a few months ago- it was very clear from the jump that Doug and his team truly care about actors and developing them. He's straightforward. This career isn't easy. And if you think it will be easy and come without hard work, you're going to be slapped in the face with reality. Especially if you're in a huge market like LA or NY. My last agency (who I will not name) was a pretty "big" agency - things started off good with them - I auditioned for a handful of commercials and even a role opposite Dean Cain....but I slowly started to feel like a small fish in a big ocean. I'd email my agents and not hear back - and have to follow up several times. I was often times stuck wondering if my agents were even submitting me and doing their job....(given....agents only make 10% commission....YOU have to do 90% of the work....constant training, professional headshots, materials etc, even self-submitting) This has not been my experience with Bailey's. This is the first agency I've been with where I feel the team actually cares about me. They're excited to chat with me. They're willing to get on the phone and game plan. They want to advise me and help me take my career to the next level. I truly feel like I am with a "team" - every project I'm submitted for, I am sent an email to let me know. I'm not stuck wondering if I'm even being submitted at all anymore. I've been in this business for several years now - I also work in sales for my day job. I can smell BS from a mile away. I've never gotten any vibe from Bailey's other than the desire to genuinely help me. When I win, they win. We are a team. And it feels great to have hardworking people on your team. Thank you Doug and Mike for truly caring about actors.
