Highly recommended for a weekend getaway that will make you think you travelled a lot further from…read morehome than you really did! Just finished an amazing Labor Day Weekend stay at the Rolling Thunder Ranch. We had a fantastic time at the ranch and were shocked at how much the property felt like a tropical resort. The perfect weather made it very easy to enjoy the 2 fire pits, the ample outdoor cooking, dining, and general hang out spots. Sleeping was a little tight for the 15 people we had, but with the great weather we were able to put inflatable mattresses pool side and make use of the hammocks. We will be back!

We were also celebrating our first grandchild as well as our younger son's engagement, and we couldn't have found a better spot for quality time and making memories. The outdoor spaces are extraordinary, gorgeous nature, minutes from town and shopping with resort amenities - had an all-day bocce tournament, epic morning workouts in the giant yoga room, ping pong + frisbee games, long soaks in the hot tub, and hikes to the nearby picturesque river trail. Also outdoor lunches with vistas of the mountains and lush tropical foliage. The beds in the charming ranch home are super comfy and we had some excellent game nights and dinners at home, plus great meals out (Roblars, Rory's Place, The Hip Vegan, The Dutchess). Our granddaughter slept well with her parents in the guest house, and our granddog was happy to run around in a safe fenced area. Communication with Lisa was perfect. Can't wait to return...A+++

You might not realize how huge and dangerous some of these birds really are, but they average about 9 feet to 12 feet tall and from 250 to 350 pounds. And, they can be quite deadly. During the mating season, the males will instantly try to attack you if you get close. They've got about 6 to 10 different ostriches in separate fenced off areas. If you pay a few dollars for a tour, they will walk you down and show you the different ostriches they have, as well as provide some pretty interesting ostrich facts. Their feet are crazy as they are the only two toed bird on earth. Looking at them it is easy to see how they are related to dinosaurs because it looks just like a dinosaur foot. You can also buy ostrich eggs if they have them available, which are equal to about 24 to 36 eggs. The flavor and consistency is actually pretty good as well and very similar to chicken eggs. They also sell honey and a bunch of other things. Also, in certain times of year, you can go and see the baby ostrich chicks that they raise. If you're feeling adventurous, this is definitely worth a trip, especially if you have kids. This has become a fun stop we started making on our annual visit to the California Poppy Preserve in Antelope Valley. I would call ahead and see what's going on with tours and everything else. Five stars.

What a lovely way to watch the leaves sway in the autumn breeze while sipping on a glass of wine…read more This winery is host to a vast vineyard, large open event spaces, intimate sitting areas, and a working farm with chickens, goats, and wild birds (as well as coyotes, raccoons, opossum, rabbit, and deer in the wild landscape). THE FLIGHT We had the pleasure of trying a flight of bold reds & crisp whites. Standard Tasting Flight was $30 for six 1-oz pours. We felt tipsy halfway through so it was worth it. I noticed that most of the wines in this red selection hovered around 14% so it's no surprise we got giggly after a few. Our favorite choice in this flight was Red Handed. It's a Central Coast wine that's a Cabernet Franc-heavy Bordeaux with chassis notes and flavors of plum and blackberry. Their 2023 Cabernet Franc came in second. It's a balanced, dry red with hints of black cherry, plum, and charred strawberry jam toast. Service was casual and friendly. Sip in the experience slowly and enjoy every moment without feeling rushed. Or take a walk around the grounds and feel like you're off in the countryside in a very faraway place. Although there are gourmet snacks for purchase on-site, I recommend packing a picnic to complement your wine palette so you can pair the wines with the foods you love. Not only will it help you discern which vintage you enjoy the most, but what you'll enjoy with your special meal when you take home a bottle (or a case). NOTE Old Creek Winery is CLOSED Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Call to make a reservation to ensure a good experience. Kids 3-12 are NOT permitted. Dogs on leashes are ok.

I wish they had misters around the seating areas, especially since they already have them near the outdoor bar. The couch cushions also looked like they needed a good cleaning. My boyfriend and I tried the sparkling wine tasting four 1oz samples for a $30. The peach one was my favorite, but $30 for only 4 oz total feels very expensive when a whole bottle is around $35. We ended up getting a bottle and had to ask for an ice bucket because the wine wasn't cold enough. There are also almost no food options besides some overpriced snacks. Many people brought their own food, which I wish I had known before coming. The server seemed tired and didn't explain much about the wines unless we asked questions. Overall, nice views, but for the price and experience I can't give more than 3 stars.

Parking is nearly right outside the door. I had been afraid that, as a 73-year-old woman not in the best of shape, I would be too far away from the living/dining room and that the steps would be difficult, but it was really only about 60 steps (the length of a hotel hallway) from the room to the main house and there are only about 30 wide short steps. Handrails also provide security in the dark and rain. It was so quiet and peaceful. I felt completely safe and secure. No traffic or airplane noise. No TV! My background was the rain in the oak trees. The breakfasts were perfect and the living room is actually open 24/7 so you can get water and coffee or tea any time. Staff is very friendly, kind, and helpful.

It is literally a nature oasis, a respite from the busy and loud Bay Area. The views are stunning, so much outside space to enjoy, and tables for eating in the patio. We are in the cozy room, which has a shared restroom. Literally no issues with this whatsoever. It's in between two rooms so it's not like you have access to anyone else's room. There are microwaves and mini fridges for each room. They even have a dining room and library. Breakfast is served daily, and it has robust options. The scrambled eggs really take this to another level. Another highlight is the nature. Bunnies, owls, lizards, toads, and tons of gorgeous birds. This place is a treasure.
