One of my favorite Aspen hikes! A great workout with a rewarding beautiful lake at the top! Dog friendly and lots of shade.

Dillon Reservoir, sometimes referred to as Lake Dillon, is located in Summit County, Colorado, south of I-70 and bordered by the towns of Frisco, Silverthorne, and Dillon. It is a reservoir for the city of Denver, and its waters are under the control of Denver Water. Popular ski areas are close to the reservoir, including Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Breckenridge. During the winter months, ice fishing and snowmobiling are common activities. For warmer months, the towns of Dillon and Frisco each have marinas on the reservoir. The Dillon Marina is open pretty much during the season and hundreds of sailboats can be seen docked or sailing. Due to Dillon Reservoir's proximity to the towns of Dillon, Silverthorne, and Frisco, the lake has many lodging, camping, and RV facilities. The reservoir has a popular 18 miles paved bike path that winds around the entire reservoir. The path can be accessed at any point around the reservoir. The views from any angle are worth the drive to this beautiful lake.

The State Park Ranger is on site and he told us he was "blunt but friendly", which I thought was pretty funny. He was more friendly than blunt and very helpful in telling us about where to fish as Paonia Reservoir is not stocked, it is used for agriculture and can go dry. We had a nice stay.

The north fork of the Gunnison River runs between the two properties. It's small campground that's clean and very well maintained. The sites are level and very spacious. There's distance between sites, which allows for privacy. Each site has shelter, picnic tables, and fire rings. There's a State Park Ranger and spouse on site, who occupy the site behind the large metal shed. They were both very kind and helpful in explaining that the campground was new and the State was seeking to improve the facility, by providing water and wi-fi. The downside in staying here is that there is NO water and a vault toilet. Although the Ranger has water supply at his site, due to liability issues, he's unable to provide water to anyone, as mandated by the State. Keep in mind that if you book here, you'll have to bring your own water. Also note there is no cell phone service. DO NOT seek any type of assistance from the husband and wife owners at Kebler Corner. Please read my review on Yelp for an explanation.
