And after they fired me "so I could stay home and concentrate on my health" which by the way is not legal. You can't fire someone because of health reasons. Especially if it wasn't affecting their work and they always scheduled doctor appointments on days off. I knew it was bullshit. One of the trainers through a fit with me in front of a donor. And after I proved to her she was wrong and the donor even agreed with me she went straight to Gabe and was bitching about me and obviously telling him some bullshit story. So if I was you I'd find a place that pays you for your blood. There lots of places out there to do so.

I've been donating blood for decades. It's one of the few morally unambiguous things you can do…read morethese days. In addition, I have many friends who cannot donate for a variety of reasons so I try to take up the slack. I usually donate at work but, because of the summer, they skipped a cycle so I checked at the ARC to see about walk-ins. West Madison's ARC center wins the prize for the quickest donation EVER! Granted, it was slow day over there and I know the ropes but, I was out in 45 minutes! After quick, friendly and professional attention, I was sipping OJ, eating a cookie and walking out with a free loaf of Panera bread (on Thursdays and Fridays) under my arm in less than an hour. I won't suggest that you'll get through that quickly but, if you can, donating blood should be a thing. Do it. Save lives!

Since their staff are full time pros and not volunteers I've never had them miss a vein or have to do any significant adjustments or re-sticks. There is always a need.

I have recertified in ACLS and BLS at least 12 times in my life. That said, this last experience…read morewas fantastic. I was coming from out of town to take the class. Chad and his colleagues worked with me to help me get scheduled in a class that fit in my schedule. The professionalism of this instructor was superb. The course has come such a long way. The mannequin simulator used allowed for the class to experience real situation that we may encounter. The instructor, Chad, went over what each person in the class needed to focus on and tailored their experience with the mannequin to actual situations that they would need to react to. I felt the this is by far the BEST company I have ever taken the course with. They are American Heart and you receive a AHA card, which is becoming the requirement for many hospital systems. The price is fair. The location is a bit difficult to find. Tip for finding the location: The New Towne Plaza is the name of the complex and you enter the general entrance on the west side of the building. There is not a sign on the outside of the building.
