We have ordered from American Frame numerous times and every frame has turned out beautifully. So far, every order has come exactly as ordered and has arrived in a timely fashion, meticulously packed and labeled. We have ordered both the metal and wood frames and have found both to be easy to assemble. All you really need is a flat head screwdriver and some tape. Once you figure it out, it takes just a few minutes. I also like the fact that you can upload images to their website, so you can get an idea of what the final product might look like. It's especially useful in choosing the color for mats and frames. Unless, you are really good at color coordinating, I would highly recommend doing this so you aren't disappointed with the results. Also, take the time to measure your artwork very carefully. They cut everything exactly to your specifications, so if you are off even by a fraction of an inch, it could cause problems when you go to frame your piece. Lastly, the incredible variety of frames, mats, mounting boards and acrylic sheets allows you to really customize your frame and spend as little or as much as you want. We have framed everything from my son's grade school artwork to antique woodblock prints and have been very happy with the results. read more

Amazing quality prints and framing every time! Great selection of the best photo papers, canvas, plexiglass, and aluminum. Prints and frames are always of the best quality, perfectly cut and assembled. They allow for VERY precise custom sizes of prints and frames, giving them a big edge over many other custom printing and framing services. Very competitive prices - cheaper but much higher quality, faster turnaround, and much more convenient than many custom print shops in my area, Their packaging is amazing - everything that I've ordered, small prints, large framed prints, and very large oversized gallery wrapped stretched canvases, always arrive in perfect condition. Customer service is very responsive and knowledgeable. Ordering proofs and samples is easy. One framed print I received had a fingerprint on a deep black section of the print, but the customer service was very helpful and reprinted it and returned it to me. Top-notch company all around. My experience with paper prints, canvases, custom framing, and customer service have all been amazing. For a company that's supposed to specialize in framing, their printing services are truly unbeatable and affordable. Their frames and framing services are great also. If you're looking for an all-around great printing and framing service, American Frame is my recommendation! read more

I was hesitant to order matte board online knowing that the color may be slightly different, the quality may not be what I expect it, and shipping can result in bend and flaws in the board. But I was pleasantly surprised when my order of custom cut matte boards arrived. They were very securely packaged and had no damage from shipping. The colors were what I expected. They were cut to the correct size. And the quality was much better than I was hoping for. they arrived in a reasonable time and the price was comperable to what I was paying for matte board locally. The color selection is expansive and I will be purchasing any future matte board from here, most definitely! read more

This was either our second or third order from American Frame, but most definitely our last. I placed an order totaling 566.35 on 4/17 for several frames. On 4/18 we were notified via email that some of the frames were out of stock. We contacted them and made arrangements for similar frames to be used. On 4/19, our credit card was charged twice (121.92 and 366.08). Then on 4/20 we received via email a shipment notification. This was for part of the order. On 4/28 we received a vague email from KathyM stating "we can not process your frame order until you call." I called and they are unable to charge our credit card for the remaining amount of the order. I told them that since the remaining amount is less than $100 that there is enough funds in the account. They responded stating that their system must authorize the entire $566 amount in order to do the $75 remaining charge. Well, I don't have $566 in that account at the moment. I had to give them another credit card to use. Then I got a freighting email about having had placed another order with them for $404.02! This does not make any sense to me. I call them and they say that this is simply an authorization on my second credit card. But the amount is odd. Then they transfer me to someone else (Julie?) who is very condescending with her remarks saying that I'm simply guessing about the charges. But then she realizes that they are the ones in the wrong and have in fact overcharged me. They then have to do a refund for over $300 to my account. This was such a battle ... not sure if I won or not due to the fact that I still ended up paying for everything yet I find myself having lost a lot of my time with their errors. This seems to be not only dishonest but just unethical and unwarranted. Thanks for listening. read more

Picture frame must be assembled, and instructions are very unclear. Mat was cut to an incorrect size. Not worth the money.

Spent nearly $100 for one small picture frame and received a bunch of UNASSEMBLED parts that require having a workshop full of tools and woodworking skills to assemble - including owning a power DRILL (which I don't have). Been trying nearly a month and I can't even get them to reply to an email so I can send their pieces back. Filed a dispute with my credit card company. Be warned - customer service is non-existent. read more

I discovered American Frame online while looking for some less expensive options for custom framing some large prints that a friend had done for my boyfriends new office. He works at a law firm so we needed something that at least looked expensive even if it wasn't :-) American Frame's website was extremely user friendly and the products were SO affordable! I really appreciated that if the customer was willing to put in a little work (attaching hanging hardware, putting the pieces together), that you could get quality materials for a reasonable price! Customer service was also excellent -- they did not have my requested mat in stock so they emailed me the day after I placed my order letting me know and suggesting a replacement. I took their suggestion and in less than a week I had the frames at my door. For free shipping that's not bad at all! The frames were extremely easy to assemble with great instructions and look amazing. Even the plexiglass (they do not ship glass) looks stellar and you would never know it's not glass. I will DEFINITELY do business with American Frame again! read more

First time DIY framing project for me. I researched many different custom frame websites, and Americanframe.com was by far the easiest to use and order from. They offered the best deal and widest selection too. I liked that they also had suggestions on what accessories to buy before checkout. I was very impressed with the packaging when my order arrived. Everything was packed tight and carefully. Assembling my metal frames was easy and actually fun. I will definitely buy from them again. read more

Update! Wow, I am actually impressed with how swiftly the representative I dealt with handled my complaints. She addressed every issue and assured me that the incident is being addressed with their staff. Professional and courteous - so much so that I have decided to stick with them. Also FYI, I was told that the "Alliance" program pays quarterly, but that in light of the situation they were going to cut me a check immediately. I wasn't expecting such a wonderful and reassuring response from them. read more

Shelby at American Frame is very helpful. She made great suggestions for my four items I brought in for framing. And greeted me kindly when I walked in. American Frame's showroom is spacious too. read more

I got a frame for a 28 x 44 poster I made in 1974 when my team won the NCAA Basketball championship. Great product, easy to assemble and excellent service. read more

I have ordered aluminum frames from American Frames a few times before and always very pleased. This time, they may have changed their pricing procedure such that when you initially request the price, you get a "total package" price which includes the frame, a mat, backing board and plexiglass, all sized to fit the frames. Initially, I did not understand all this and these "extras", so the price seemed very high. Consequently, I checked other vendors and then placed my order of seven frames with framesbymail.com, even though multiple reviews on them were terrible. About ten days after ordering, they emailed me that they did not have the colored aluminum I wanted (even though they earlier said they did have sufficient material on hand), suggested I select a different color, or I would have to wait perhaps months. At that point, I cancelled that order and immediately went back to American Frames. After beginning the cart check out procedure I realized you could easily delete those extras, and the price was great and highly competitive. About 4 days after ordering, the frames arrived. The frames went together easily and perfectly, and even the screws that need to be tightened on the corners were pre-set, so screwing is minimal. As an artist and perfectionist, I appreciate great products, service and prices. Thank you American Frames, and no, I don't work for them or do not benefit from them financially in any way. read more

Found American Frame online - seemed like a nice alternative to having to make my own frames at a frame it yourself place. Was a bit hesitant as some of the reviews weren't great. Decided to give them a one-time try. Received the frames today and was very impressed. Did receive an email that they were out of one of my mats. Called and spoke with a customer service representative. She advised me on an alternative mat that was very close in color to the one I had originally ordered as I didn't want to wait 2-3 weeks for my original mat choice. Changed my order and received my frames and matting three days later. The frames I ordered came assembled - I had to drill and set the screws to hold the backing on and for the wire hangers. Am happy with the end product and with the price I paid. As one of the photos I was framing was a custom size I know that frame alone would have cost 2-3 times what both frames cost me. I will purchase from them again! read more

I've used American Frame several times over several years, and they have always sent everything cut exactly right and looking wonderful, on time and well packaged. Anyone who knows the business end of a screwdriver can assemble the metal frames, and the wood frames only need a small drill or awl in addition. The cost is better than local stores that I know of, even if you select archival-quality materials (as you should for any framed materials of real or sentimental value). Fast turnaround, secure packaging. You can upload a digital image of what is to be framed, and the site will automatically show you that image as you try different frames, mat colors, sizes, etc. We can all name two or three companies we love to do business with, and American Frame is one of mine. I value the complete control over framing details, but even people who just want something framed fast and right, without much fuss, will be happy. read more
