I had a lamp base that required wiring, a cap, harp and shade. Imagining it would be staggeringly expensive, particularly since this shop has no competition in the Capital Region, I was floored by how reasonable the costs were. The turnaround was a month, which factoring the need to order parts I thought was quite reasonable. Picking up the lamp I was quite pleased by how it turned out. A total win. The downside (from my personal convenience) was that it required a long round trip (twice) to get the project done. I was simply thrilled, however, to find the shop in a feasible proximity. The two times I have been there I have found parking immediately in front of the store, despite the rest of the downtown being densely packed (quite the luck since a pub is next door.) Driving in from the Northway the shop is on the other side of the street, and in light of dense and aggressive traffic finding the opportunity to turn around is challenging. This shop is a seriously nice find. Were I at a point in life where I didn't have a house packed full, I might have looked at the many antiques for sale (Very late 19th/early 20th century) I have another lamp I need to get rewired, but I think I'll wait till Spring; driving into Ballston Spa while scenic, is a bear.

I initially…read morehired bill, the owner or thobae electric, for a pool job. he came out in April looked at the job and gave me an estimate for 3,000. when the pool was installed in July I changed my mind about the pool equipment location and bill said to me that It will be a "little extra" because its further away from the house. he worked for approximately 30 hrs according to him and by the time he was done he said my estimate is now 6,000. yea exactly double the original estimate. he was not transparent and he said he wishes I got tother estimates to see how much it usually costs. so I did get other estimates and showed 3 different electricians what bill as done and they all told me its 3-4k in total material and labor. when I confronted bill about this and asked for a partial refund he said "so I made money on one job" he also proceeded to say that electricians get paid $85-125 dollars an hr and every time he came out to my house it was a $250 call which he also did not tell me about. I will be taking this matter to court but I wanted to make other customers aware of this guy. I actually hired him for a hot tub install and he was reasonable but I think he got greedy and took advantage of his clients.
