very very slow and only has one cashier open at a god damn time, and your clothes are way over priced for a junky quality.

Fleet Feet goes above and beyond what other shoe stores do to help customers find comfortable…read moreshoes. The salesman began by having me stand on a 3d foot-scanner to get a digital image of my feet. Sounds gimmicky, but it has practical value. The salesman immediately saw that I'd need support for the arch on the right foot. As a result, he brought a couple different inserts out with the shoes, so I could test them out when I walked around the store. Another thing: FF carries shoes in my size - 15. Size 15s are tough to find in stores. I typically have to order them by the mail. Since I can't try them on in a store, I typically have to send them back. Even better, FF had size 15 Hoka shoes. There's no shoe in the world that can make my sixty-eight-year-old feet feel completely comfortable. But Hoka shoes get closer than other brands - even the Pearl iZUMi and New Balance shoes I've had luck with in the past. Finally, FF's sales people are pros. They know their business. They're friendly and considerate. And they want to get a fitting right. They allow the customer as much time as they need to try on shoes, walk around, then try on other pairs.

I felt real welcome entering this store. Teri was great! I was on a mission for some shoes, after…read moreI gave my shoe size and style I wanted I was presented with some perfect options! I will definitely be back to buy some more shoes! Great team running this store!!!

This is my favorite boutique in Traverse City! They include a mix of antique pieces, which work perfectly with contemporary designs. I love the chandeliers they had throughout this most recent visit. As soo as you walk in, you can't help but fall in love, it mixes all items seamlessly, providing fun spaces, and one of a kind pieces. I've purchased a couple of jewelry items both visits, and while I would basically buy anything in the shop, it is rather pricey. But, if you are looking for pieces that truly are treasures that can be handed down, or unique items, as well as items that will last for years...then splurging isn't so bad!

*sigh* If you would have told me 5 years ago that I'd be giving Ella's anything less than 5 stars,…read moreI would have been shocked. Alas... I have been a faithful Ella's shopper for...oh man, a long, long time. 10 years at least. They used to be in this tiny, tiny place and while they did have some pricey, vintage and vintage-inspired clothes, they also had a substantial amount of real vintage, reasonably priced, *amazing* stuff. In particular, I recall that they always had once rack of adorable vintage blouses and none of them were over 30 bucks. I have an incredible lightweight black wool jacket from the 30s that is one of my all-time favorite pieces and I can think of at least three other items that I bought years ago and still adore. A few years ago or so they moved into a huge, beautiful space, still on Front Street. (Side note: I really wish they hadn't gotten rid of their old logo. It was beautiful and what they have now looks like something from Photoshop 101.) Like I said, the space is beautiful and they did a great job on the interior design, but....man, I can just not afford anything in there anymore. And I pretty much literally mean that. The bountiful rack of under-$30 blouses has been reduced to maybe 5 or so only "OK" items. Everything else is very expensive and a lot of it isn't vintage--just the same stuff you see in a lot of these high-end, plastic-y, tourist-trap "SoHo" boutiques that cater to women under a size 10. Don't get me wrong--a lot of the clothes are still beautiful and they do still have a formidable vintage section. Also, they sell Frye boots which I really, really love. I'm just disappointed to see the turn toward catering to tourists and townie yuppies with money. Something else--the staff is stylish and nice, but *way* too pushy. I hate when people try to sell me things when I'm just looking around. Also when they make me feel bad for not buying anything. I still have a place in my heart for Ella's and I still go in every time I visit T.C. I also do recommend checking it out--it is very beautiful and worth looking at! I just wish I could afford to do more than look.
