Foreign Aid is now my goto place for service procedure I can't do myself!!

I'm so glad they called because I was 5 minutes from going to Jiffy Lube. Anyway they took my car in immediately and fixed everything that I'd asked for yesterday at no charge. They reaffirmed my belief and experience that this is a most outstanding business. Not only will I continue doing business with them but I will definitely recommend them to every VW owner I know! Today I mourn the death of a very old and trusted friend. I've been going to Foreign Aide for years to have my VW maintenanced. I made an appointment again this year. The appointment for normal maintenance (and maybe other repairs that might be needed). I asked specifically several times to be sure that all fluids were addressed. "Yes", they said. Well, I got home and reviewed my bill and the accompanying 12 page print out showing a lot of check marks and numerous photos of my car. You'd think it was being entered for a beauty pageant. No maintenance was done... No oil was changed, nothing ... just a fancy booklet showing the computer print out and a lot of pictures of my car. I am truly sad to see that my dear friend is now defunct but I'll certainly be looking for a decent mechanic who is willing to do the work needed to keep my car on the road.

Kelly actually was extremely negative about even having me take the vehicle stating " it would take too much of his time and he didn't feel like doing an older vehicle"! Call again twice two hours later. Told I will call you back in 10 mins. Lie 4. Do you think it's over? Nahhh, I only get them on the phone when they are trying to upsell me on things they have no idea about as I'm a new customer, so recommending work based on ether. Then comes the last lie of the day. Lie 5: will call. you back in 10 mins to give you a time to pick it up. Alas, not a word. I get in an uber to get to them before 5:30....so basically 8 hours for an oil change at this point. My car is outside with the few things in the passenger seat thrown onto the dashboard (water bottle, tissue box, hand sanitizer). Never got a call. Just checked out without one word of apology or one honest statement about what created the backup other than 'we've had a busy day' so apparently appointments are meaningless. Hopefully the actual car service does not align with their hideous customer service. A new low for auto repair. Just staggering lack of courtesy.

I took my VW Jetta Sport Wagon and got a vehicle health inspection. I had several items addressed…read more One item was replacement of the rear shock absorbers. After all the work was completed, I picked up the car. As I drove out of the parking lot, I immediately heard a rattling sound in the left rear area that I had never heard before. I kept for a few days to see if I could identify the source of the noise. I did not find anything but found that the air cleaner hose was not reconnected and the battery box were not secure (the air filter and battery were replaced in this service visit). I took the vehicle back to the shop. They told me the rattling noise was somewhere behind interior panels and that I needed to take it to a body shop. I took it to my body shop and they removed interior panels and inspected. They found no issues but believed it was in the left rear suspension. They gave me the name of a shop that specializes in foreign cars. I took it there and the found loose bolts on the left rear suspension. Fortunately, I was able to get the body shop and VW mechanic not to charge me for that particular trouble shouting. The mechanic was going to charge me $200 for the troubleshooting. I went back the shop that installed the shocks asking for a refund of the $200 it would have cost me as compensation for all the difficulties (leaving the car at 2 other shops and the transportation to and from the shops over the course of two weeks). They refused and offered me a discount on my next service. WHY WOULD I EVEN WANT TO GO BACK!

I read some much older reviews about dishonesty and let me be the one to assure you that present day Dan's Automotive is the ONLY shop I will ever take my car to again. I drive a 2017 VW Beetle and he's getting on in mileage, which of course in turn means weird noises and things I won't pretend to know anything about. Dealerships in the past could tell me I needed a new go pedal and flying lemur to make my tires move and I would have left not only purchasing both but with absolutely no further understanding. At Dan's, their lead technician Jarrod broke everything down Barney style with more patience than I deserved. I didn't feel stupid about asking questions and he explained to me the WHY!! Also, no ridiculous up-selling. He told me about things I'll need later on but does not leave me in any immediate dangerous driving conditions. Key point here - I actually got to speak with the guy who worked on my vehicle, my car runs better than ever before, AND I'm more knowledgeable because of it all. Remember that Euro car parts are expensive and your auto technician absolutely deserves the rate they charge here (it's competitive and fair with the absolute benefit of no cut corners in my opinion). I also truly feel that this team is just amazing in general and totally experienced, those toolboxes are worth more than my house for sure, lol. Oh!
