I booked a Saturday appointment and it in the past year came out to around $300 but they make it so easy. I think I spent a little less with that using online software, but this experience is better because you have a human you can ask questions to directly. I would definitely recommend them for your tax needs.

    Horrible experience trying to execute a simple wire transfer at LBS…read more I went into the Los Altos branch in person to initiate a time-sensitive and critical wire transfer to secure an out of state property that I was purchasing. I needed to send earnest money to a title company in Tennessee. Keep in mind that I was physically present at their brick and mortar facility, with all personal identification in hand, and my account has sufficient funds for the transfer. In addition to the regular recipient information, they wanted an escrow number, the name and phone number of the title agent servicing my account, and insisted that they be able to call them, despite the title company being closed due to being in a different time zone. I did not have the escrow number so they initially refused my wire request. I was livid and insisted that a manager get involved. After the teller went to consult with his manager, he relented and agreed to do his job. So then he needed to call the "main branch" to "confirm" the details and verify that the wire could be sent. And I got ANOTHER round of stupid questions from the OTHER agent at the main branch, who AGAIN refused to authorize the wire. Unbelievable! After escalating to another manager at the main branch, I was told that the wire request was approved but would not be sent unless I answered a phone call the next day to AGAIN go through their security gauntlet. Since like most people, I have my phone set to ring for only recognized callers, I had to enter three different LBS phone numbers into my phone to be sure I would get the call. After over an HOUR struggling to perform a simple wire transfer, I was able to leave their facility unsure if the wire was even going to be sent. Not a good feeling to go through the evening thinking I may lose a prime property because of LBS and their "security" requirements. Next morning my phone rings. I answer and another round of stupidity began. The girl on the telephone wanted me to ask a series of questions to "verify" my identity ONE MORE TIME. But she was having "computer problems" so she put me on hold while she dealt with her computer problem. Finally she came back on the call and posed a half-dozen "multiple choice" questions that I "had to answer" or the wire WOULD NOT BE SENT. The questions included information that I NEVER gave them when I opened the LBS account. Things like where I lived twenty years ago, roommate names from the same period, what year I opened an old credit card, what job I had in the 1990's, etc. It was clear that they were using AI or another intrusive computer program to dig this information up and "quiz" me about it. I understand the need for security but this was ridiculous. What more do they need when I was there IN PERSON and it was MY MONEY that I wanted to transfer? It felt like I was being treated not like a valued customer, but like a criminal. I am not happy with the treatment and will move my business elsewhere.
