I'm not sure why, just a few weeks back, this girl I know thought that a good place for her 21st would be a sweaty, loud and cramped Hob Nobs. I can kind of see her logic though. If only seven people turned up, she'd still look popular as the excess numbers would be spilling out of the doors. Part of my problem is just taste. They blare out music here that I hoped would die out in the late nineties, and the people who frequent there, whilst I never wanted to do at least hoped would relocate. This has not been the case. If you like loud, cramped places full of attitude and aftershave, this place is for you.

We had crisp halloumi, spiced aubergine with minced lamb, chilli peppered squid, pork belly and chips, a lovely crisp Pinot Grigio (my friend's a white drinker) and a couple of liqueur coffees. All this for £30 a head including a tip. The staff were efficient, attentive and charming. Young and energised, I loved the way all the front of house staff presented one table with a birthday dessert and sang with evident delight to the guest. We were made to feel very welcome despite booking a late table and the arrival of a large party of blokes who'd evidently been out for a Christmas get together added to the very European feel of this little gem.
