I flew American from Tampa to Austin, direct flight. My boarding pass on my phone, which I had to use like 3 times to get to my gate, all of a sudden t would load when I actually need it to board my flight. I had to step out of line, which made me lose my spot, and now I was forced to check my small bag instead of put it under the seat in front of me. They had to look up my name to print me a boarding pass. I was not thrilled by the delay of boarding, but was still thankful that I wasn't bumped to another flight. My flight was smooth, my seat mates were awesome, and the trip was quick.

The face of indifference.

American Airline sucks hard. They changed the standby, same day transfer to be same stops at same airports and they hide the option. The gate agents are too dumb to know they are making them obsolete. They're not friendly. They're not helpful. The bathrooms or so small you have to stand sideways. This industry needs a disruptor.

American Airlines is ... not my favorite. Today was my first flight since COVID started, and I don't feel that they made me especially safe during the flight. One flight was completely packed. I get that they want to maximize their revenue. But when I boarded, they gave every passenger a sanitizing wipe to wipe down their seat. That was the full extent of the process to make us feel safe! (I mean, other than requiring masks and stopping beverage service on short flights, sigh.) The staff on the MIA to TPA this afternoon was completely rude and unhelpful. I'm sure everyone was tired. But the attitude from the male flight attendant was the worst I've seen on an airplane in years and years of both business and personal travel. My earlier flight today was about 50% full. Great. I was flying with my son, and when I picked our seats, we had the row to ourselves with the middle seat empty. Why did they put someone in the middle seat if the whole row across from us was empty? Why not put her in the middle seat there to reduce the close contact between strangers? I overheard several other people on the flight grumbling about the same thing. If Delta or Southwest are options with future travel, I'll go with them. American is not doing a great job with making its customers feel safe. And the service has been pretty rotten for years (at least if you're not flying business -- I'll grant that the business class is fine for an American airline).

The ticket counters are spread out by airlines. We were on United so we found their counter. They are all kisoks for checking into your flight. I didn't realize it until I needed to go to the next tram station that the QR code didn't print out on my boarding pass and my husband's boarding pass didn't print out at all so he had to use his phone as his boarding pass. Few glitches in their kisok system. I don't recommend the Kisok, but I don't think you have a choice. Just come with a lot of time and patience to make sure the kisok gets it right and if not hopefully you'll find someone to help walk you thought the process. And double check that your boarding pass has the QR code on it. At the gate I was able to have the ticket agent print out another boarding pass for me so I could board. Other good news. Due to it was a full flight they offered to check our carry-on baggage for free. That made it easier on our next layover, we didn't have to carry around and keep track of our luggage as we waited for our next flight. Boarding went smooth. We were in group 4, but due to we had our luggage checked we went after group 2 so we could carry our luggage down the ramp and place it by the door so they could load it up. Even though it was a pretty smooth experience I only gave it 3 star due to the ticketing issues. I beeped at the gate to the tram, because my husband showed the system my boarding pass, but it didn't register, but they still let me though the gate. I was blessed that they printed me out a new boarding pass so I could board on my own without having my husband fiddle with his phone to get both of our boarding passes digitally.

My company was being cheap at the time and send a bunch of us on Spirit, while upper management flew on better airlines. Repeated delays going and coming back due to mechanical problems. We were lucky they even got the planes off the ground. No to mention the limited food and beverage options and crappy cramped uncomfortable seats. Nickle and diming for any extras. Good riddance.

Breeze might be my favorite new airline... if only it went to more airports and abroad!!…read more Leaving Tampa sucks only when I'm staying in the U.S., but the blow isn't as bad knowing TPA is the best airport of its kind and now there's an option to fly with Breeze. I've always wanted to fly breeze since it's 2020 arrival, but the smaller markets it flew into weren't that great. Fast-forward to 2025 when they've added so many more markets, including the teeny tiny Pensacola airport which I happen to go back to when I'm not abroad and not in Tampa (the parents live there, and I run Airbnb's out of there). When I got back to Pensacola from abroad in July, I flew my daughter up on breeze and she told me how great it was. On my first breeze flight, it was a brand new plane! A first great impression for a germaphobe pho like me. I'm a bag checker so I don't know how it is to fly with just a carry-on and I feel like the plan with a check bag and Wi-Fi is worth it. You get full Wi-Fi on the plane. Only Water was served for my #Short one hour flight so I'm not certain if they serve other snacks, but there is a paid menu. For now, I'm giving this airline a five star because it was a smooth, clean and comfy flight. I'll update when I can do a round trip and also fly to a different market. After I'm done with my Southwest points Breeze will be my first look. I just hope it keeps expanding and takes Southwest place since Southwest decided it would like to be just as average as every other airline these days. Breeze feels like a better version of what Southwest was when it first started as you do get to choose your seats! I hope they keep up the great service. I wrote an article on breeze Airways upon its inauguration and the CEO at least at the time it was the former CEO of JetBlue. I remember loving JetBlue then hating it so I hope it's due to the CEO understanding what customers really want.

The Tampa terminal was also pretty organized, however, they could have used another agent at the baggage check counter, which was slow, despite not many flyers in line. The TSA line could have used and extra agent or two as well, but not horrible. The baggage and TSA employees were professional and friendly enough, did not encounter any rudeness. The boarding process was smooth and organized. The seats on this flight were much tighter than the plane from Detroit, I believe this plane was an Air Bus but not sure about this. The plane was jam packed, every seat full. Three seat on each side, narrow aisle where people going passed would bump into you. This is the first time I've flown in quite some time and I do not remember planes being this cramped. We left the gate on time but sat on the runway forever, apparently there was only one runway open so there was a huge line of planes waiting to take off. They informed everyone that some flyers may not make their connecting flights in Detroit. Once we got going the flight was very smooth and there was no delay in landing. The baggage arrived on the belts very quickly and nothing missing or damaged. Outside of the delayed takeoff, everything went smoothly, they offered plenty of snacks if you wanted any. I would choose Delta again to fly.

If that's what you're looking for in an airline, Frontier has you covered. If you expect any of the above included, you've got another thing coming and I'd recommend a different airline. I had a fine experience with Frontier, booked my flight 3 months in advance and no delays or time changes at all - I was pleasantly surprised as Spirit will always have some kind of delays or time changes. FYI - Their personal item policy is EXTREMELY strict - they are going to ask to see your personal bag and ensure that it fits in the box provided at check in and at the gate before you board, if it doesn't, get ready to pay for a carry on/checked bag. Overall, it's fine for Point A to B - but there are for sure better (more expensive) airlines out there.

No flexibility, no understanding, nothing. Just cold, rigid "policy" with zero consideration for a mother juggling two infants and all that comes with it. Because of their complete lack of compassion, we were forced to scramble and pay $1,300 out of pocket for a last-minute flight on Southwest just to get home. What was supposed to be a "cheap" option during spring break turned into one of the most expensive and frustrating travel experiences we've ever had. Frontier might lure you in with low fares, but don't be fooled -- they make up for it with terrible service and zero customer care. We will NEVER fly Frontier again. Save yourself the stress, especially if you're traveling with kids.
