Once we figured out there were a few crossing points it was pretty easy to find the car in the correct meeting spot. My only regret was not booking a couple days for the trip to the valley, will definitely book again next time we're in San Diego.

Hasta el último el camionero fue el que me dijo y tuve que ir corriendo alas donas a comprar el boleto, aparte ellos no aceptan tarjeta tuve que sacar del cajero que ellos afortunadamente tienen. Yo para evitar estos inconvenientes marque para asegurar y me confié con la información que me dieron pero era incorrecta! (Aclaro marque a sucursal Huntington park). La vuelta dice tardar 3 horas pero en realidad tarda más. Al llegar a San Ysidro te bajas de un camión te subes a otro, después te bajas en aduanas y tienes que esperar hasta que todos los pasajeros hayan regresado de aduanas, después te pasan a otro camión donde se separan los que van al aeropuerto y central camionera (este paso fue súper desorganizado nos traían como to**** de camión en camión), al último te dejan a UNA CUADRA del aeropuerto, es un caminar y está mal que no digan con anticipación. Hay muchas personas que no pueden caminar esas distancias con equipaje. En fin, váyanse con unas 5 horas te anticipación antes de la hora que tienen que estar en el aeropuerto etc. Está alternativa es barata pero es demorado y no muy cómodo. Si tienes mucho tiempo está bien esta opción, si no recomiendo CBX y igual para alguien más mayor de la tercera edad no recomiendo que usen este transporte es mucho caminar para ellos al último y también es mucho andar para arriba y abajo de camiones (cabe recalcar que cada ves que te bajas tienes que andar cargando todo tu equipaje, nadie te ayuda.)

After a quick and easy walk through customs, Uncle Jose met us right across the street and got the day started smoothly. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable right away. He guided us through a mix of local shops and restaurants, then gave us the flexibility to visit the spots we specifically wanted. We made our way to Puerto Nuevo for lobster, which absolutely lived up to the hype, and of course stopped at Restaurante Caesar's--the birthplace of the Caesar salad--which was a highlight of the trip. Uncle Jose took great care of us throughout the day and made the experience easy and enjoyable. If you are able to walk across the border and walk back or take a $10 shuttle back into the US, ask for Uncle Jose a warm and knowledgeable local that will take great care of you. The diversity of the population in Tijuana was not something I was aware of until just a couple of years ago - in large part, thanks to his tour. Prior to that, when I visited Tijuana, I had feelings that were similar to the ones he described among his guests - the feeling of freedom - but I wasn't sure why I felt it, or what to make of it. After the tour with Turista Libre, my feelings about Tijuana evolved from "I feel so free there" to "I love that Tijuana is for everyone." It's exciting to be there and to think about the role that the city has played in the lives of so many who have sought better lives than the ones they left behind. At the same time, being there gives me a greater appreciation for the advantages and privileges I've had throughout my life as a citizen of the US.

There are also food and coffee options on site! Mexica Brewing: This small and charming brewery is owned and run by a pair of sisters that make great beer. Not far off Revolution Ave, it's worth the stop. Their honey porter is my favorite. Food options here too! Mamut Brewing: I had an amazing time chatting with one of the Brewers. All beers we tried were amazing. Their seasonal pumpkin was the best of that style I tried. Telefonica: Gastro food truck park. I had the best Pulpo (octopus) sandwich at Berracas Burger. They were super responsive, and the day before our designated rides, they shared the driver's number for us to connect directly. Our driver down to Valle was named Elias and made the whole process so simple! He picked us right outside of where we came out after crossing the border. He was super friendly and wanted to make sure we were comfortable for the drive. He told us a little bit about Valle and how he's lived there for 25 years. On my way back, I had a different driver, who was Natalie. She was super nice and the ride back was so quick, probably because it was the morning and traffic wasn't too bad in Tijuana yet. She was helpful in directing me to find the line to cross the border. Without the direction from her, I would have definitely been confused. They made this whole process so seamless! They were on time and available for all the questions I had leading up to the rides as well. I will for sure use them in the future any time I'm traveling somewhere driving distance in Mexico!
