There's also a skate park, a couple volleyball courts and a baseball field. You have to bring your own net for the volleyball court. The baseball field has real bathrooms, but looks like they're locked when there isn't a baseball game happening. There was also a fence around most of the park. There's lots of covered picnic tables, shaded benches, and trees that create lots of shade. There's are shade structures on the playgrounds, but they don't really cover any of the equipment sadly. There's also a working water fountain. Some of the covered picnic tables also had some charcoal grills available to use. When we visited, there were also two porter potties, but I didn't go in them so I can't tell you how clean they were ... but they're porter potties, so ya know. lol. Also worth mentioning that I only saw two homeless people at this park. They kept to themselves and it didn't seem like they were doing drugs.

Admission is only $3 per person. They give you a pamphlet/laminated book type thing and you follow the trail and read the information as you go. They did an excellent job of describing life at the pueblo and it made the trip super interesting. There is a lot of opportunity for great photos. Dogs are allowed throughout the park as long as they are leashed and picked-up after. They had a movie in the visitor center, which we watched after our walk, it was informative, but not necessary.

Excellent condition basketball courts with great bench seating, a super fun long slide that all ages love, a quaint pavilion for small gatherings for Barbecues and packed lunches, complete with nice walking paths and beautiful open green spaces for the littles to run and play. Bring your basketball or your soccer ball, keep your dog on a leash and pick up their waste, please, and don't forget your hand sanitizer.

Walk past the lodge and look for sign with trail map. We thought we'd try the waterfall trail but no signage made us stop after crossing the stream several times and ending at a memorial cross. Someone said you need to scramble with large rock/cliff to the left and keep going. The lodge was closed when we went in mid September. Lovely cool day for a 9:00 am hike.

The sites are level and have a nice big table and a pole with two hooks for hanging trash or food so critters can't reach it. The way the loop is developed gives each campsite lots of privacy and you're never too far from a restroom or trash can. The people in the park were really friendly and the camp fees were totally reasonable. It's also not too far from town to run in to spend time in at the beautiful plaza area and browse for adorable nick knacks for souvenirs and gifts. It's also convenient for groceries or gas. There is an Albertsons and Whole Foods right off the highway as soon as you get to town.

There are several trails that start from the lot, so it will be used. The construction seems to be to connect this trailhead area to the nearby nature preserve society buildings and educational area. Which, by the way, is the closest restroom facilities. For those that need it... The trail is pretty easy to follow, though at the beginning, I was checking the photo I took of the trails and the AllTrails map. There were a couple confusing and unmarked on maps forks, or small dry creek beds or other areas that look like possible trails. And since part of the Picacho Peak trail is along or in a dry creek bed...it can be a little confusing. But once past that, the trails are pretty clear and well marked. It is challenging. It is in a higher elevation than I am generally used to, and even higher again from Albuquerque. And then you are climbing up a dang mountain. Take your time if you need to, bring more water than you think you'll need, bring snacks for energy at the top of the mountain. And enjoy!! The trail was neat and pretty well-maintained. The views are wonderful! And the other folks who will also make this trek are friendly and kind. Very glad we did it!

Today, it is a quiet place to take a break in historic Santa Fe. Metered street parking is available. Walk across the street to visit the colorful walkway of the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts as well which features a sculpture garden with Allan Houser's masterpieces.

Why can't you religious folk just call everything a church? Either way, the cathedral is beautiful and well worth the walk around it. I posted pictures of the crucifixion statues. It's in an enclosed area which I think is technically considered part of Cathedral Park... it's just on the other side of the Cathedral. I suppose it's a cool green space with statues and benches around. We were there early in the morning and there was a guy cleaning the grounds. He was friendly. While it's cool, there really isn't anything here to invite you to stay a while. If you're in Santa Fe and you need to kill time, walk through here. Check it out.
