First time at this location, but it was a pleasant visit. My husband and I decided to see The Batman. We are so behind on movies, so since we like AMC theaters, we decided to choose this location. The young men at the concession stand was really polite. We purchased our tickets, purchased our snacks, and went in. The theater was really clean and the chairs were comfy. I really enjoyed the movie, but not too much of the popcorn. The large popcorn is much smaller now. We used to have buckets for large popcorn. The popcorn wasn't hot, and really needed to be much fresher. We end up dumping the first batch, and got a second batch. Much better. :-) We added hot putter on it. Delicious! My husband and I shared popcorn, and soda. The tickets plus the snacks came up to $36 total. read more

worst service ever, turned away OF AGE customers to a Rated R movie... wouldn't except my fiancé's PHYSICAL id and MY id that i had pulled up on my phone because we came to an out of town movie theater for his birthday. online claims we can get in as long as we had an ID so why not let us in? we are 19 and 20 years old cmon now my id even showed i was from out of town but the workers didn't care to take time to understand any part of that. wouldn't recommend the workers are straight rude ! read more

I went to the eras tour movie with my dad tonight. When I purchased the tickets there was a mix-up with the dates, so I called, and they still let us come see the movie anyway. We had an absolutely incredible time, and I cannot thank the staff enough for their amazing customer service. read more

This AMC is a bit run down, with dilapidated theaters and a slightly grittier overall vibe. But the staff were friendly, and the movie quality was fine. Plus, once you lose yourself in the film, everything else starts to fall away. Overall, this is a far cry from some of my favorite theaters. But if you want to see a movie, it'll still work. read more

We go for a movie, the theatre didn't open until 10 minutes prior to the movie. Then they open the doors and just walk inside didn't tell the crowd of people waiting that we purchase tickets at the popcorn kiosk. They just stared at all of us waiting... horrible customer service. The theatre was clean - which is all it had going for them. read more

First of all the movie itself was great, however the theater is terrible. We asked for a hot dog and were told it would take 45 minutes to make. Must be good if they're making them from scratch but we decided to pass. It was also advertised the movie would be starting at 1:30 but we sat through 30 minutes of ads before it actually played. We then went to use the restrooms afterwards and the womens was nasty! There was a gaping hole in the ceiling and trash all over the floor. Not impressed at all. Small outdated theater but it was the closest one I could find while staying at starved rock lodge. Saw a 4;25 showing of Scream 4 and the special price between 4-5:30 is $5!!! The popcorn was fresh and buttery, but the cost was surprisingly high for small-town America. MapQuest mobile sent me in the opposite direction when I was looking for this theater so I missed it the first time out, but it's so obviously attached to the outside of a mall. read more

The Peru Mall Cinema has been my go to theater whenever I am at home. However it is a small theater and as of late I have had some less than favorable experiences. The cleanliness of the theater is sub par. They keep some movies around too long (Hello Blind Side I saw you on Thanksgiving at this theater it is now the end of January. Its time to wave your little hand and whisper so long dearie!) And then they let some movies go far too quickly (Daybreakers and Youth In Revolt were gone far too quickly). I have a voracious appetite for movies and do like to go at least once a week. So please for my sake keep movies around! I swear I WILL WATCH THEM ALL!!! read more

This place would be a good $3 Cinema. Old, small screens, broken uncomfortable seating and extremely OVER PRICED! $7.75 to get in. $14.50 for small popcorn & pop. $22.25 per person. Unfortunately, it's the only game in town. read more

The theater is old and kind of in mediocre shape. I don't go for the ambiance however, I go for the movie and they are using digital projectors so the image quality is excellent. Since I rarely get any of the fat building popcorn or candy I don't have that expense to consider, though from what I see it is expensive. Really, we are lucky even to have a theater in town since the mall it is part of has lost most of its stores and has to be on its last legs. Yes it is outdated. Yes the seats aren't comfortable and need to be replaced. Yes the concession prices are beyond ridiculous. Yes the staff could be better. All that being said it is a small theater in a not all that large town. It will do when there are no other close options. I've been going there since I was a very small child, it is what it is. It is a nice little escape from your own living room. It could use updating and the concessions need to be more reasonable but it's my little place to escape and see something new. If you enjoy bad service and broken seats.. this is your place! Ceiling tiles are stained and missing. The staff have no clue as to what is going on. Your feet will stick to the floor and I've been warned they re-use the old pop corn. I would rather drive to yorkville to see a movie instead. read more

I'm from out of town and went here to see Spider-Man it's really cute and small. Prices are kinda high but then again it's a movie theater. Wasn't crowded and you get to pick your own drinks. Free refills and if you get the plastic bucket it's cheaper when you go back. Customer service is really nice too. read more

Picture quality is mediocre. Sound average but what really kills the experience are the terrible seats with shared arm rests. Sitting for 2 hours with shrugged shoulders because it's cramped sucks. All this place is doing is continuing on with the GKC junk there was when they acquired it. Spend a few more dollars, go somewhere else. You will be glad you did. read more

I used to work at this place when it was GKC Theatres and it was much nicer then. Looks like the place hasn't been clean or repaired since. I took my daughter to this theatre to see the new Black Panther movie and it broke 1/4 of the way in. They gave us some free vouchers to come back. I use moviepass so those are useless to me and I spent about $45 on concession to really enjoy the experience since it was a movie my daughter really wanted to see. Total waste of time and money! Needless to say, the passes are just sitting there unused. Don't really plan on going back with the horrible seats, unclean condition, dilapidated state of the place, etc. read more

It's outdated and small BUT when you compare it to the theater in Ottawa then the Peru theater looks like a 5 star MegaPlex! In the end this is just a standard movie theater. It's got smaller rooms that a bigger city theater and the everything from the 80s/90s is still there but again it's the best theater in local area. read more

Just disgusting. Unclean beyond belief, look at the ceiling fans, the walls, the seats....dirty and dusty. They never clean, over priced on everything. Bloomington theater is cheaper and 20x nicer but since carmike is the most convenient location they can get away with charging what they do. They were suppose to build their own theater and be separate from mall but now they aren't since mall offered them a deal. Does that mean prices for the customer go down??? Nope. This theater is disgusting and decrepit!!!! Not to mention extremely over priced. Went to see Star Wars last night. There were several seats removed, several others had yellow crime scene tape to indicate they were broke. The remaining seats were worn out and uncomfortable. I was unable to find a position comfortable enough to watch the movie for any duration without needing to adjust. The floor was sticky and each step I took literally stuck to the floor. I stress literally not exaggerating. I have been to "dollar" theaters which provided a better experience. Despite obviously saving money on maintenance, cleaning and maintaining the theaters they still insist on charging the highest price I have ever paid for movies. (Yes I see movies rather frequently). The only thing keeping this place open is that it is the only one in the area. If that weren't the case it would have been closed years ago. I see that some reviews have been excluded from scoring. It seems that the severe negative opinions may have made them look like fakes, I assure you they are not. Excluding them has falsely inflated the rating for this joint. Do not be fooled. I rarely review things but the misleading star rating compels me to do so in order to help rectify the rating. read more

Overly expensive. $10 for a bag of popcorn after standing in line for 15 min. Then when suggesting a way to speed the lines up was snapped at about how they are under staffed. How about having your items ready to go and waiting to be bought instead of having to all of a sudden make pretzels and having to walk all the way in the back and bring them to the front to be cooked or take the next customer while they are waiting to cook. Come here to have your money taken and have no chance at a refund. The theater is rundown and the staff is rude/uncooperative. This theatre ruin my night and still got to keep my money for a movie I did not get to see. The price are outrages and everything cost a arm and leg for a very poor theater and uncomfortable seating. Unless I absolutely have no other choice, I avoid the Peru cinema. The seats are wildly uncomfortable. The climate control is very outdated making the room feel clammy and moist, like a Florida sunroom. Theaters are very small. It's a very small and very old facility in need of total renovation. The least they could do would be to offer cheap tickets, but they don't. Drive elsewhere to see a movie, if possible. read more

Hello All, First before I say this, I want to say...Yes, I know, smaller Central Illinois theater and expectations of big city shouldn't be had out here in Peru......HOWEVER. Went to see Avengers with family from Chicago last Friday, between the 3 D prices, and popcorn, drinks and all the hoopla, it was nearly 100 dollars. (4 of us). The theater is in such disrepair I was embarrassed. Bathrooms right out of the 70's or with worn counters, no hot water. Lets talk about the theater itself. Ceiling tiles missing and falling out from leaks. There had to be at least 10. Six rows of seats sectioned off with tape and trash cans catching dripping water. Other ceiling tiles bulging with water and brown stains and looked as if they could fall on us at any second. 2.5 hour movie in the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in. Might as well sat on a park bench. The sconce lights are right out of the 70's and look as if they haven't been cleaned since they were installed. Textured fabric walls full of dust and whenever the ancient AC comes on you can smell the 70's ambiance. Not to mention it sounded like a plane taking off above you. The screen is out of date, off center and the sound system is poor. There are huge speakers, again out off the 70's or early 80's on the walls, but appear they haven't been working since they built the place. I really want to be able to go to this theater, it's close to us, and easy to get to. There is NO other choice in the area unless you head to Peoria, about 70 miles, or the Quad Cities. Same deal. There were talks last year of a new theater being built! YAY! But recent news says Carmike is going to re-negotiate a new lease. Must be a hell of a deal they are getting with the mall! The theaters were all busy! Not sure why they can't update this place. Its a darn shame. City officials must turn a blind eye on the safety hazards, and violations in this place. Not sure they even care. As long as tax money is paid. This is an HONEST, opinion of this place. I have put a call into Carmike Cinemas Corporate office in Ohio to lodge a complaint. Lets see what happens. Most likely nothing. I took pictures of the ceiling and the roped off seats, but does it really matter. I see the same pics from years ago and nothing was done. It's a shame...really is. Build a new theater, get out of the dying mall, or totally renovate. read more
