Really needs an update. Compared to bridge street movie theater this place is so old and run down.

Better than Cullman's movie theatre aesthetically, but dang. I was here for over 2 hours and the entire time, saw staff standing around, looking always like they were about to do something- but the women's restroom never got a restock on toilet paper, paper towels, or soap. They were completely out of soap for over two hours, and everything else by the end of the night. It's not like they couldn't have done something. Disgusting. read more

The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. As well as, i purchased a popcorn bucket (with free refills) at 7:50pm for $25. I didn't realize or was told that they close concessions at 8pm. If i would've known this, i wouldn't have bought something that came with free refills. Our movie didn't even start until 8:30pm. read more

The movie showing themselves are fine. The lobby is normal and functional. The staff are okay at best. But I have never seen filthier bathrooms in any place of business than I have here. And it's constantly that way. It doesn't matter what time you come, no matter how dead the theater is, it is absolutely disgusting. There is never any toilet paper in the stalls, either. It has been this way for several years now. I cannot emphasize enough how repulsive these bathrooms are. read more

I moved here to Alabama from California a year ago and the movies are a way for me to relax. I bought the AMC Premier membership because I like the fact that it allows me to go green and purchase my tickets online, not to mention that it gives me the benefit of being taken first in the concession line. Well that's not the case at AMC Decatur. Every time I buy my tickets online and go to the ticket taker they never have the scanner out for use. So I'm sent to the concessions counter only to be looked at standing in the premier by the employees and they take the next person that's not a premier member. I've had it out with the manager twice now as to why the benefits that I've paid for are not being honored. The manager gives me a BS answer as he is trying to dismiss me. I asked for the district managers number and told they can't give it to me because the manager isn't sure if it's him personal cell number. I call BS because I think he doesn't want the district manager to know that as the theater manager he is failing at his job with providing the customers that are premier members the benefits that they have paid for. That's ok because I'm going to research the AMC corporate number and file my complaint with them. Hopefully that will get me a response and if not I'm going to ask for a refund for something I've paid for and not getting. I would say this is just short of fraud. Take the drive to Huntsville and see your movie there. read more

I've been here about 5 times since it became an AMC theater. Most of the negative reviews are from the Carmike (what it was before) but I've never had a bad experience. The lines are usually pretty quick (unless you pull up on a Friday night, then it's a couple minutes wait). One time another customer accidentally smashed my hand between two doors and a girl that worked there brought me a plastic bag full of ice so I could keep my hand on it during the movie. It's pretty clean and and nice. Only complaint is that the women's restroom next to the machine room (has blue lights) is always dirtier than the other two women's restrooms. read more

It is a BIG movie theater. Clean and well run. Concession stand is clean and fast. They removed a bunch of video games from last time I was here but not a huge loss. If you want to see a movie at the theater you normally don't have very many location choices but at least with this one you wont be disappointed. read more

Christmas evening, I went to the movies with my nephews. I think the Carmike theater is a wonderful facility. However, the ticket purchase/ concessions setup is the most backwards thing I have ever seen at a movie theater. I bought tickets via Fandango. Instead of printing my tickets at a kiosk, I had to stand in line at concessions to get the tickets. Once it was my turn, it took several minutes for the employee to print them. When we decided to get popcorn and drinks it took at least five more minutes for the employee to ring a cash sale. Then, we had to go stand in line at a popcorn station for several minute. It was confusing and time consuming. Hopefully this was an anomaly due to holiday staffing. read more

We got to the movie 15 min early for the Mission Impossible movie opening night in the Big D theater. We sat in the dark and LISTENED to the previews for 30 min because there was NO video showing on the screen. Every now and then a "No PC Signal" message showed. That's ok I guess IF someone from the theater had explained to us what was going on but no one did. In fact, when I, along with many others, went out to ask what was going on, no one apologized for what was going on but only said we would be able to see the movie when it started. And... we did ... but it did make our experience there less than enjoyable. read more

Went to see Thor movie with Kids last night, movie experience was fine. I was however very disappointed in AMC decision to run an abercrombie and fitch ad that promotes homosexuality. There was an image of two women kissing. I realize that modern advertising and media is making an attempt to normalize this lifestyle choice and that is beyond changing, but running this ad before a pg 13 movie in a theater filled with children and teens is a poor decision and offensive. I would ask that AMC review their policies for which ads run before which movie. read more

DO NOT GO TO CARMIKE 12 IN DECATUR, AL!! One of the worst cinemas ive ever been to. Twice now theyve started showing the wrong movie and have had to be told how to do their job. The last time they never turned down the lights when the movie started, and when I informed the manager, she told me thats as low as they go. She treated me as if I had never been to a movie and as if I were stupid. She refused to come look for herself And they left the lights on the whole time anyways. The movie I watched was not in surround sound, as the back speakers I was sitting directly under, did not work.Therefore I couldnot hear the movie hardly at all. The people sitting infront of me were talking the whole time, one of their phones started ringing and they answered it in the middle of the movie, and they were taking flash photos of themselves throughout the whole movie.......The management at this movie cinema is pathetic and they should all be fired. And god forbid you ask for a refund. IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE CARMIKE 12 IN DECATUR, AL 0 STARS!! read more
