As far as the Dolby theater is concerned, I only have rave reviews. We went to see the Elvis Presley movie and it was very good. The moment that we entered, we had our the phone tickets scanned and presented with a very nice poster of the movie. We ordered a few items at the food counter and everything went smoothly, served by a friendly staff. The seats in this theater are very comfortable and the stadium seating made it very easy to view the screen. The sound in this theater is amazing. During intense scenes, you'll notice that your seat will vibrate. I enjoyed it and they time it perfectly so it's not overwhelming. You will definitely enjoy this theater and their sights/sounds will make it memorable.

Assigned seating now , pick your seat online. Plenty of movie options. Food concession is nice but expensive.

After two years, this was my first time back visiting this AMC in Clifton since covid started and it was pretty empty to see Spider-Man:No Way Home. I attribute that to the time I went (during school hours). It was a decent sized theatre and held a good amount of movies. Staff is nice and they even have ticket booths rather than just the machines to buy tickets. The establishment had place markings and hand sanitizers throughout the premises. I felt safe and comfortable coming back again.

It's AMC. They have reserved seating. They have DOLBY. They have IMAX. They have RealD 3D. Discount Tuesdays. Recliners only in select auditoriums. It helps somewhat if you have AMC Stubs Premier membership. Get $5 back for every $50 spent, free popcorn and fountain drink size upgrades, waived service fees when purchasing tix online, priority lanes at the box office and concessions stands. I like this particular AMC for the respectful movie goers. I haven't experienced movie talkers, cell phones, yelling at screen or feet on the chair next to you. I go to the movies for big screen action packed movies with the IMAX or Dolby experience. Unfortunately, the IMAX and DOLBY experience has not always been the best at this AMC. -I sat in auditorium #9 opening week of Aquaman and throughout the entire movie there was a reflection on the bottom right hand of the screen everytime the door opened. You can actually see the shadow of the door opening and closing along with the shadow of people walking in. -I sat in auditorium #8 opening week of Captain Marvel and there was no sound available for most of the previews. Both times i went to customer service so they can correct the issues and barely recieved a seemingly frequent apology. Hoping for just human error and will probably return for Avengers Endgame with fingers crossed for an ultimate experience.

I can taste the sounds.

Good spot for movies. Plenty of parking. On weeknights usually 1 person working the food. So, I never buy anything from there. The coke fountains and the slurpees are a step up to Diabetes. Dolby is worth it for action movies. Seats are still clean and they recline.

[703] AMC really needs to build another cinema in the area. This theater is crazy packed and parking is a HUGE challenge. There was a line out the door so luckily we ordered our tickets online in the parking lot :) . I thought this theater said assigned seating but the movie we watched did NOT have assigned seating. We got there early for a good seat together. I can tell by the line leaders that the popcorn line can get LONGGGGGGG.... People "snuck" into our R rated movie with a small child (probably about 5) which would NOT stop talking. Luckily the inconsiderate parents left after about 30 minutes. Definitely not my favorite movie experience. So AMC... Open another venue.... upgrade the seating and have staff stop in the theaters to escort young children from movies which show decapitated heads. Sad part is we paid $14 per ticket for this experience. I don't want to return.

In addition to presenting indie films, foreign films, or thought-provoking documentaries that you won't usually find at corporate-owned theaters, the Clairidge's theater auditoriums are smaller and more intimate than you'd find in the big, corporate-owned theaters and only one of the six auditoriums have the fully-reclining seats that have become the industry standard. On the other hand, the concessions go way above and beyond the classic movie theater snacks like popcorn, candy, and sodas which enhances the unique viewing experience. The Clairidge's concessions stand offers beer, wine, and canned cocktails - including the "Director's Cut Blood Orange IPA" created by New Jersey Beer Co. exclusively for Montclair Film. There's nothing better than catching a movie with a drink in hand. It's the perfect blend of a high-brow film experience and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes for a sophisticated night out while supporting a non-profit that gives so much back to the Montclair community. PRO TIP #1: Show up early to get a good seat. The Clairidge doesn't offer reserved seating and its smaller auditoriums fill up quickly. PRO TIP #2: Download the ParkMobile app. You can pay for parking in Montclair via the ParkMobile app whether you park in the town's garages or metered on-street parking. If you can't find a spot on the street, parking in the Montclair Parking Utility's Crescent Deck (located at 13 The Crescent), which is located just a block from the back entrance of The Clairidge, is $2/hour.

I want to say I'm doing I recently visited this AMC location and overall had a mixed experience. First, I want to highlight the staff. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and attentive. They were professional and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they were doing, which made a great first impression. The theater itself has a cool vibe, and the seats are very comfortable. However, the reclining felt slightly off and not fully proportional when leaning back. Another thing that stood out was the food tray setup. When the seat was reclined, the tray felt awkwardly positioned and not very accessible. Once the lights went off, the theater became extremely dark, to the point where you could not see your food at all. Many people had to use their phone flashlights just to find their snacks. The biggest disappointment for me was the food options. If I had known in advance, I likely would have chosen a different AMC location. The menu felt more like an Applebee's-style dine-in setup rather than a traditional movie theater concession stand. Many classic AMC staples were not available. For example, they did not have regular nachos, only loaded nachos. When I asked if I could just get plain nachos, I was told I would have to order the loaded version and remove the toppings myself, for the same price. That was frustrating. I also tried the buffalo wings and fries, and unfortunately they tasted low quality and underwhelming. Lastly, the entrance to the theater was confusing. It took me about five extra minutes just to figure out where to go. The staff and seating comfort were definite positives, but the food options and layout could use improvement.

Recently though, we went to to see Wicked for Good on Christmas Day. The staffers at the ticket scanning area were all friendly and nice on Christmas. We took the escalator to the second floor theaters. When we were close to the top, I looked back and down to see the concession stand and lobby on the first. I had a flashback to the 90s. Despite AMC Wayne in need of a refresh or update, it looked to us like the theater still is well maintained and kept clean. The only negative thing that happened involved the lights not being lowered/turned off. Wicked for Good started and the house lights were still 100% on. My husband ended up going downstairs to the ticket scanners to ask them to rectify the situation and shut off the lights. Things happen, but it was surprising it happened. The popcorn does sit there for a bit, which is different than with other movie theaters I have been to lately, but it's all about demand so if no one is getting it, I get that it makes no sense to continuously make it. The parking lot is a bit tight, I think it would be a good idea to expand into the lot behind as we had to sit for a bit and wait for someone to leave.

I wish this venue was closer to me, I'd be there for every hardcore show they put on. For this show there was no barricade; I don't know if that varies from one show to another, but I was happy to see the lack of a barrier when we walked in. The security was just how you want them to be at this kind of show: present and there if needed, but not getting in anyone's way or preventing people from dancing or stagediving. There are two bars in the main area of the Black Box, one at the back, one on the side. And then merch was sold upstairs, and there's another bar there. Snack machines, and candy is also sold at at least one of the bars. I paid $7 for a 12 oz. can of Miller Lite or $9 for Corona, I'm not sure what size that was, 11 or 12 oz. I guess, one of those weird tall, skinny cans. The sound quality here is excellent. They had some lights going on during the bands' sets, but nothing too showy or intrusive. Really, just all around top-quality in terms of sound, stage setup, production. All the employees I encountered were very friendly. This was a pretty big crowd; I don't know if it was sold out or not, but the place was packed by the time AN went on. Sometimes staff can be unpleasant or just generally serious, handling this many people in a theater size venue, but these folks all seemed happy to have us there. A "spiritual successor" to the fabled Fabian theater of old (which sadly won't come back) 3 blocks…read moreaway now an empty shell, Fabian 8 is Paterson's foray into movie theaters, and in a special case, an independent movie theater away from the large corporations/chains we're all accustomed to, and a short drive away in neighboring towns. With 8 screens (hence the name), affordable pricing, and other musings, it's worth a visit, whether you're a native Patersonian or someone out of the area. It's located inside the Center City Mall, at the upper floor, across the hall from Planet 301, and close by to Center City Pizza. Outdoors, it captivates the decor and charms of an old theater (a style mimicking an old theater, and red neon display boards showing what movies are available), and plenty of movie promo billboards plastered across the mall. Inside, it's a charming little theater with most of the amenities you'd expect: ticket office near the entrance, a concession stand with most of the things popular in other theaters, small dining area, a video game room (I've never been, but it's good for private parties), and a good environment for children and families. After checking in with whatever movie you'd want to watch, you're then directed to the respective screen: 7 regular/conventional, one I believe is 3D. Seats inside are posh, somewhat comfy and reclining to good angles, but unlike the bigger chains, they're "not fluffy enough", and non-motorized recline to lounge. They also vouch your parking fees (up to four hours), with the purchase of a ticket, so keep that when you've parked underground. Overall, pricing is mostly affordable and at a good convenience for locals. There's two distinct pricing methods: standard/regular admission, and matinee showings (open-4PM), a special Tuesday pricing of 7$ for all tickets, and student discounts (assuming school is in session). As for concessions, unlike larger companies, Fabian 8 doesn't do combo meals or specials (ie food/popcorn + a drink for a lesser cost, but prices are not a deal breaker. Popcorn is plentiful, most familiar candy brands, and sodas/drinks are provided by PepsiCo (Pepsi/Mist Twist/Mountain Dew/etc), and food ranges from pizzas, to churros, to hamburgers (provided by White Castle) and pretzel bites. For children, there's a special value pack for them in the form of a popcorn bundle with a small drink in a collectible cup if available (or regular drink) with whatever movie is on special and gummy fruit snacks. There's also a butter dispenser nearby too. I've never been to their game room, but it seems to be a good distraction for those who want to have fun, with rentals and timed sessions to play consoles. There's also a loyalty program for those interested, to save money and get rewards. Personally I've been going in/out of Fabian 8 for nearly 6 years (from hanging out with friends, to doing class trips here when I went to high school, to solo shows), and it's been mixed at best, but not "exceptionally" done. Sure, when I was in Paterson it was a big convenience, but being exposed to better options elsewhere, it's hard to show interest. I thought the prices were fair, and it's sometimes a good place to relax when my options were limited. It's a bad thing to see staff sometimes reluctantly showing any enthusiasm to be there, and hanging out with their own friends during work hours, then again, attendance sometimes pales in comparison to captivate their attention. My last time going there was for the Grinch movie (3D version) on opening night, and pricing was fair for me and my guests (3 kids and 3 adults), snacks/concessions were decent but not spectacular (I've yet been impressed with movie food), and inside the theater at most wasn't at full capacity. Seats were fluffy but felt a bit rocky. Understandable I've went to a children's film, so I was unfettered by the noise of children and others in the audience. Left with a good note and some laughs, but I would've hoped things would be "better". To end this, Fabian 8 is Paterson's independent theater, and maybe the undisputed money maker for Center City Mall, which has been falling under hard times as of lately (a "dead mall"). If you've wanted to have movies w/o corporatism breathing down your neck, and smaller crowds, this might be a good stop. Free parking (w/ your ticket), good pricing, issues with staff, and lacking with charm other larger movie chains can easily dish out, its what's expected coming here. Maybe next time?
