This is the worst movie theater we've ever been to. No fountain soda, only warm cans. (No diet or water though). Popcorn is cold and stale and kept in a candy cabinet?? This place was absolutely filthy. Bathrooms smelled like you know what BO. Nothing has been vacuumed. Seats don't recline. There's no boxes for sharing popcorn. No food. This is a sad state of affairs. Poor shelby has no good theater. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the staff are very sweet and doing the best they can in such poor conditions. read more

Nice place to go see a movie. However, the seats don't recline like some other locations.

This is strictly based on the Elvis movie. OK...so here it goes.... To capture this movie the way i really want would be extremely difficult and I doubt my words could do it justice but I will try.... First off, to me, it feels like now the world will see Elvis how I and so many others have seen him for as long as they can remember, AS A SUPERHERO!! This movie completely channeled everything an Elvis fan could have wanted. I know often times we as Elvis fans take ownership of our love for Elvis being big fans. We place Elvis on a pedestal and he truly becomes everything in every category to us. What I really loved about this film is that it not only captures Elvis's electricity in stage but it captures him as a man, a thinker, a musician and a person. Grandiose on one hand and devastatingly humble on the other. The actual physical movie itself was immaculate, from the attention to detail and customary to the cinematography and presentation. The way Elvis' music was utilized and combined with some of the current artists. Elvis diehards will also appreciate the vast library of tunes that were used (more than just the 30 #1 hits) -- I don't want to give too much away though. Austin Butler's, Tom Hanks as well as the entire cast was perfect! You can tell how much each individual cared and were completely invested not only into their character and the movie but to Elvis and his and everyone involved's stories. Some little details, nicknames, quips and moments will have diehards (like me) engrossed and engaged. The way all the various periods of Elvis' life were captured were so fun, so energetic and so full of life. Yes, as with any movie its hard to encapsulate life with the magnitude of Elvis' in one movie but the way they focus primarily on his relationship with Colonel Parker is the driving story arc and gives it direction so it stays the course. As an Elvis hardcore fan, yes some of the timelines are bent a little bit but nothing egregious, and all the moves made make sense as far as telling a truthful and well paced story. The run time of 2 hours 40 minutes disappears immediately. And honestly, you leave wanting to see it again. I know there are a lot of people who are skeptical and sitting on the fence but please if you are a true Elvis fan, I implore you to go out and support this movie. You will not be disappointed by any stretch of the imagination. From casting to music integration, cinematography, sets (the attention to detail in Graceland, Tupelo, Las Vegas and all points is astounding). If absolutely nothing else, you will leave this film an even bigger Elvis fan and proud to be an Elvis fan, and I truly believe that what they have made will create an entire new generation of Elvis fans. I could write on and on but like I said at the top, my words won't do it justice. Just do yourself a favor and go and watch ELVIS. **I will also say make sure to have some tissue with you.** This will be one of those movies I will add to the list to watch again for sure!! read more

This AMC is one of the WORST theaters in america. They are not clean; very nasty. The staff is rude and unprofessional. The supervisor always has the worst attitude towards everyone including children. I do not remember her name but it does start with an S! I have been here a few times hoping it has changed - and the last time i was there i found roaches and a dead rat in theater 8. As a place to which it can get busy and you get a lot of customers you would expect it to be clean. The carpoets are old and nasty and the theater floors need are very questionable. if you are going to charge us a arm and a leg for a movie and a thing of popcorn you could at LEAST have us sitting somewhere clean with a nice good staff. The owner of this amc needs to rethink their managers. do NOT waste any money going to this theater- you will 100% regret it. As soon as i find out the number to get those supervisors and managers the trouble they need i am making the call. and last but not least i notice when i go they have staff outside VAPING right in front of the door then they go inside and DO NOT wash their hands. So if you do go be prepared to inhale a lot of vape smoke. It's absolutely a waste of money and ran by unprofessional people. read more

Brought my family to see the flash and boy was AMC not the place to have gone. Your Shelby NC is some bullshit. Preorder food and they don't have half the food in stock!!! Then wouldn't switch the food that you didn't have to what they did have. I hate to tell you this location needs to be shut down or sold. Total shit customer service. I also suggest not letting ANYONE preorder food at this location since they can't seem to get their act straight. I would avoid this location at all costs. read more

The AMC theatre in Shelby is cleanly, easy to navigate and a good place to visit. I went to watch Raya and the last dragon yesterday and I had a good experience. The staff was professional and helpful, The food was average, and the movie was great. The only complaint I have is the outdated seating. Most of the good theaters have reclining seating and some even have delivery to your seat with alcohol or specialty food. Overall this experience was fun but this theater needs to be updated. read more

This is my hometown theater. I have been coming here since it opened. The sound and picture quality are always good. I've never had a technical issue viewing a movie here. The cleanliness is solid. I mean it's a movie theater, im not a guy who freaks out if occasionally you see a piece of popcorn on the floor. They do a fine job with the upkeep. No complaints. I do wish that they would upgrade the seats, there is nothing wrong with the current seats but if you've been to the theaters with the recliner seats it'll spoil you. Again, this theater is only a few miles from my place and it is my go to. I highly recommend it. read more

Nice and clean food area. Theaters are average size stadium seating. Good sound and nice wide aisles. Like others have stated, really doesn't get busy unless its weekend night. One thing is to by tickets online there is a $2 surcharge per ticket. Little steep and really not worth it unless you go Saturday nights. read more

Not a bad theater. I'm probably a bit biased as this is my go-to theater for most movies. The positives are that I've always had great experiences with the staff, the theaters are pretty nice with good picture and sound quality, clean floors, and fairly comfortable seating. Honestly, if you go pretty much anytime other than a Friday night or Saturday afternoon showing, it isn't too crowded, either. They have some good deals on last matinee of the day shows. The food is quite expensive, so I rarely ever get anything to eat. I do like that they have actual police officers there on duty during really busy times. Not only is it a good safety precaution but it helps to cut down on obnoxious behavior from patrons with no consideration for other people. Honestly, I prefer simpler theaters because at the end of the day, I care about the movie and air conditioning. The more expensive theaters just seem needlessly "decadent" with no real benefit to the movie. Simple theaters work best. Gosh, I wish we had a cheap little dollar theater around the area. Okay so without me being too petty and putting just a one star, I'll put two bc at least the movie didn't break down or the sound stop . First impression of when you walk in is enough for someone to look around in shock bc of the old school ticket booth that's wide open for all to see the mess inside of it. That was so unorganized I don't see how they even know what they have in that tiny space. Second thing, I ordered these tickets off the AMC app bc I love going to the one in my area and the reward are good. So you get a code, just like any other online ticket system, sent to your phone to be scanned. I go up to the ticket guy and he tells us that we actually have to go to the concession stand to get the tickets printed off for him to rip apart. Um, first of all I feel like that's a huge waste of paper and time when one of the main reasons you get online tickets is so you don't have to worry about a paper ticket, but that's not really my biggest issue. The line to the concession is about 5 ppl long with only 2 ppl behind the counter. So another huge reason to get online tickets is to not have to wait in line. That was literally pointless considering it took us longer than it would have to have just waited in line anyway. When we're waiting in line to get our tickets printed I had the unfortunate time looking around at how dirty this place really was. The floors are a mess, the counters were dirty and the display of popcorn that he was scooping out of had this grime all over the inside of the glass. It was brown like what lives on really dirty stove tops. It was disgusting to say the least. When we get to the guy for our tickets he looks at my husband and I and then asks to see our IDs... okay I get it, ID if you must, but really? We most certainly look old enough to watch this movie. The age is 17 by the way. But no matter, I'm just lucky I even brought my ID in, bc if I'm like anyone else, I normally don't want to have to put my purse or wallet on the floor or worry about it falling out of lap while I'm watching the movie, and normally just leave it in the car. When he takes our IDs he prints off our tickets and doesn't say another word. Like nothing. Not even thanks, so we go back to the guy taking tickets and then he asks for our ID AGAIN! I tell him that we just had to give them to get them printed, but he says that he has to see them anyway. I mean really? So he looks at them and tells us to go to the wrong movie number. We then walk back to tell him that wasn't correct and he looks at our tickets again and says "oh you're in this theater". The movie that we are seeing is rated R if you haven't already guessed, but the crazy thing is, the original theater he told us to go to was a kids movie! lol like did you not just take our ID bc you knew what we were seeing?? I know I sound petty for sure now, but my goodness if that was not the most difficult time we've ever had just to walk into the theater to sit down. Which brings me to my next point. When we go into the theater there isn't a single person in there, which is normally great! But this place is gross! Looked like it had not been cleaned at all. When we go to our seats, I have no idea what possessed my husband to say "let's look in the seat before we sit down" bc it it had not been for that I would have put my seat down and say without any thought just like I always do. When we looked in the seat there was this old chocolate nasty looking stuff in the seat! I mean I was about to just walk out if the next seats had been messy at all. There was paper all in the cup holders, just not okay in my book. Considering how much you pay for a ticket, you would like expect that little bit of luxury when going out to a movie. Oh and the best part was when our friend arrived she didn't IDed at all! There wasn't even anyone taking her ticket so she could have just walked right in. They just need to do better all around bc this wasn't a good experience. read more

Pretty nice theater multiplex. Have been here many times. Just went on Saturday with the family and on Sunday solo. The place is clean, cool and comfortable. Never gets really crowded, unless it's Friday or Saturday night with new releases. They have matinee prices plus super savers between 4-5:30 PM. During the summers I think they have early morning movies for very young kids. read more
