I have been a patient of Dr. Chen's for years for neck pain and spasticity. Dr. Chen cares and has…read moreunquestionably helped me with my pain. He spends plenty of time with you, and involves you in decisions about your care. He remembers things like whether you're sensitive to drugs, when other doctors have dismissed side effects that I've experienced. He has occasionally stepped in to help me with migraine meds when my neurologist was MIA. I have recommended him to multiple people. The billing practice here is to contact you shortly before an appointment and tell you that there's a balance due, and you need to pay it before your appointment. It was enforced in an overzealous way that was difficult to not take personally. My husband spoke to the doctor about a year ago and came to an agreement that billing inquiries would be directed to my husband rather than to me. I was recently contacted about a balance and I gave them my husband's contact information. They refused to contact him and called and emailed me again until we spoke with the doctor. I am giving a five star rating because Dr. Chen apologized and asked that we forward the offending emails to him. He assured us that he would speak to the appropriate people and take care of the problem. The billing manager has also apologized and agreed to not to contact me. I am hoping that we can put this behind us and focus on my care.

He saved my life and I do mean that quite literally, I was on the brink of taking my own life because I couldn't live with the pain anymore. He suggested an Intrathecal Pain Pump, to which I agreed to do, he did the surgery and implanted it perfectly, I hardly notice the thing ever except for refill days and when I need to give myself a little extra medicine. The fourth one is the problem. He tried to do a surgery that he wasn't qualified for because my kneecap had went off to the side. He couldn't make it right by moving it back. He was going to recommend me to another sports specialist that dealt with knee cap repairs. I decided to take a break from surgeries for a while. When I went to contact him I was told that I was no longer his patient. Now what am I supposed to do. I'm very disappointed with the way he decided that I was not his problem/patient anymore. He listens to his patients and I never feel rushed. He also tries to help you by advocating lifestyle choices - like good nutrition, instead of just prescribing medications (unless it is absolutely necessary of course). His staff is also very good, and they are always willing to help you final cost effective alternative means to get your blood drawn. In my case, I had wanted to use an outside lab (not affiliated with the hospital), so it will be covered by my insurance. They just faxed the lab order to the lab of my choosing. This ended up saving me hundreds of dollars.

Dr. Oswald and her nurse were condescending during multiple contacts and told me that I was inventing her symptoms and refused to discuss treatment options. Dr. Oswald was often rushed and didn't have time to finish appointments and prescribed me a medication that I did not need while rushing out the door. She also prescribed a medication for my daughter that was not the FDA approved medication for the medical issue that she was experiencing.
