I taught yoga at two of their facilities from November - March and was SHOCKED. In the short time that I was there, I witnessed a number of staff changes. A putrid odor of urine, feces, and bleach (so much so that I had difficulty breathing). Patients left out alone in the middle of the hallways having panic attacks. Some of the staff that I interacted with were extremely rude, not just to me, but to the patients as well. Telling them to "shut up." After sharing my experience with a few people, I have also heard other's horror stories about their negative experiences with Apple Rehab (Like staff refusing to change patients after they wet themselves). I also have a friend who works there and has shared with me how cheap and understaffed they are. I want everyone to be aware of what kind of care is provided. I do not want to blame all the staff because some of them are good and actually do care, but it seems that the people at the top do not have the best character. Apple Rehab hired me to teach Chair Yoga and has not paid me a dime. The staff kept telling me that it takes a while for them to process my invoice, but after 4 months of no pay it looks like they just took complete advantage of me. The residents there are so sweet and I worry for them.

I was immediately impressed with the knowledge of my therapist ( Jessica ) and her ability to zero in on my particular condition . She carefully reviewed my doctor's report and discussed her specialized approach to assist me . The resulting therapy has resulted in significant improvement in both my pain and mobility. Over my weeks of therapy she continuous and carefully assessed my improvement and communicated that to me . I am completely pleased with Touchpoints and it's P.T. unit as well as all of its staff that I experienced . I strongly recommend this facility with hesitation Al L. , patient

I have went through a lot of ups and down and it was hard to be able to comprehend everything at once. When you leave the hospital you think you will go home but sometimes things get thrown your way that you can't control. I was very happy with the monitoring of the heart failure nurse, Anna and therapy department: Scott and Dave. I had a lot of positive experiences. The staff at the facility was working with me very closely. I know I could not have done it by myself. I am happy to finally be returning home after a long stay however I greatly appreciate all the help and support provided to me by the staff and management at the facility. I will miss seeing the staff at the facility. I would like to return and visit the staff in the future.

West Hartford Rehab is now under new management, the inside is much more clean due to the renovations. Located in a quieter and safe area outside of Blue Back Square in the center of town on Loomis drive, this is a perfect area to go for a nice stroll around on the sidewalks if the weather allows it. The nurses working during the week Monday-Friday are wonderful, helpful, and take the time to sit with each family during a visit to give quality updates that are 100% honest on the behaviors and health of the person receiving treatment. On the other hand, I am not so satisfied with the staff on the weekends, not as experienced nurses gather at the front desk on the second floor to "shoot the breeze" and tend to administer slightly more medication in the afternoons to "tame behaviors" when they really may just be looking for a break. I have gone to visit at all times of the day, weekdays to the weekend. I have personally had to comment on the cleanliness of my Dad's clothes and standard hygiene. I can say with confidence that I am not impressed overall with the care BUT West Hartford Rehab is the only facility that had open space for my Dad when he needed to transfer, and they are able to provide him with the care he ultimately needs. They are able to handle heightened behaviors of lewy body and frontal temporal lobe dementia, unlike many other surrounding facilities that deem this as a liability...unfortunately the cost of healthcare here (depending on your diagnosis) can run up to $150,000/year unless you file for title 19 and receive medicaid!
