Think of it as a school where all the big businesses in the area got together, told UNT what kind of things they'd love to see in graduating college kids, and then UNT made programs tailoring to that. Bam. You've got the Frisco campus. No, it's not just a business school, although a heavy focus of the curriculum is put on accounting, finance, things like writing press releases, fund raising, public relations, etc. All sorts of things are taught there that corporations have a huge desire to see more focus on. Another key thing about the Frisco location is that it is predominantly all night classes, so it's tailor made for those already in the work force, maybe those wanting to get a different degree or even further an existing degree. You can still come here and do some basics (I took chemistry and a psychology course here) but they are typically afternoon to evening courses. Lots of the commuter students at the main Denton campus like the Frisco campus because parking is free and PARKING IS FREE. Yeah. It's worth putting twice. Plus they are super freaking friendly here. They always great you with a smile when you walk in, they give you free swag all over the place and I swear...It's like they remember you paid them to go there or something. Amazing. They cater food in all the time for all students and you can rent a laptop, use a printer, get scantrons, all free. Instructors are fantastic. I hope they offer more daytime options for core classes. It's a great facility.

I'm glad I took advantage of that because I was debt free after leaving Collin to continue my bachelors elsewhere. The professors here are great and some of them are also professors at 4 year universities as well (UNT, UTD, and UTA) For example my English professor for 1 and 2 had her PhD in Poetry, and English and was working on her 3rd PhD. There's also great resources that are more intimate than you'll find on a larger campus. They obviously have a library but they have a writing center, math lab, science lab, and other resources available. Now here comes the not so great part that I experienced. My last semester there I was part time with 3 classes and a lab to finish off my associates. I was working full time and figured I'd just use a payment plan to pay for my classes. When the 3rd/final payment due came I paid it online thinking there was no problem. Well apparently I thought wrong. Their computer system glitched and posted my payment to a summer semester. I wasn't even taking summer classes so that was weird. Well unbeknownst to me they dropped me from all my classes and I couldn't even log onto the online server. I felt humiliated and confused. I had to miss my lab to go and deal with it and they re-added me no problem it would just take 24 hours. I was still able to sit in my classes but my professor wouldn't let me make up my lab I had missed. I ended up with a B but could have had an A but hey that's life. Regardless of where you go to school you'll have to deal with all different types of professors. I also saw others complain on here about wait time in advising. You really have to use common sense and know when the busy times of year are. If you wake up and go at 8 am when they open you're golden. I understand not everyone can do that but when you go and check in if it's a 5 hour wait you can leave and they'll send you a text when they're about 20 minutes away from helping you. I will say their advising is slow and their computer system isn't the greatest.

They only offer any and…read moreeverything to day students as if they are trying to weed the night student out! they even given all of the weekend clinicals to days and left nights with weekday clinicals that clash with work. I don't know how they expect students that work eight hour shifts during the day to turn right around a couple of hours later and go to clinicals from 6 PM to 5 AM, only to have to turn right back around and go to work that same morning. And now, as we look into a housing loan, they're saying there's no guarantee for freshman housing anyway... I'm totally shocked. Priority goes to international students, then out-of-state, then in-state, then even students from nearby counties... seriously? We rejected Baylor, SMu, Spelman, Howard, University of Houston, University of Oregon for this? This is a slap in the face. Why offer a full ride without housing and a meal plan?

The staff members, which are usually students, are always upbeat, fun, and knowledgeable about the books and supplies needed for each college course offered here at Collin College. It is a small, cozy, and quiet bookstore. They offer general school supplies as well as small electronics that are useful in your classes. I purchased a laptop here, previously, and had a great experience with it. Hungry? They sell chips, bottled/canned soft drinks, and candy too!

My daughter went to the PCT program at Plano East and took dual credit Collin College courses…read more When she attended the fall semester, she went to the counselor to plan the most efficient course path for her BSN. Needless to say, the information given was completely wrong and after her third semester she was told she would have to wait over a year to apply to the nursing school. When the Associate Dean of Students was asked for an explanation for their gross incompetence, we were told it was their busy time, and some counselors knew more than others. Just washed their hands of it and said there is nothing we can do. WOW

The instructors, staff, and faculty all are passionate about what they are doing and creating innovative ways to prepare their students. For example, they have partnered with industry partners who underwrite part of the setting up educational programs and costs in order to provide the school with great resources and in exchange the school creates programs that are immediately needed and employable in the job market. It is a win/win! This particular campus provides educational opportunities in Automotive Technology, Collision Technology, Welding, HVAC, Construction, Nursing, IT, and more. Being a technical college the per hour tuition is a fraction of other colleges and universities. To me that seems like a win for the students and a win for the community!

I would not recommend coming here for a correspondence exam or using this testing center. As a…read morestudent at an online university, I needed a testing center to take an exam. The supervisor I spoke with multiple times while trying to schedule my test was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. After finally getting the exam scheduled, I paid $30 for the appointment. When I arrived, I spent about 20 minutes going through an extremely uncomfortable check-in process. I was asked to lift my hair, show parts of my skin, pat myself down, empty my pockets, and spit out my gum before being allowed to take the exam. The man checking me in even had to "check with his supervisor" to see if I was allowed scratch paper and pencil for an ALGEBRA exam... I understand the importance of preventing cheating, but with cameras everywhere and a full staff present, the level of screening felt excessive and unnecessary. To make matters worse, the testing center does not clearly communicate all of their rules and procedures ahead of time. In the end, I wasn't even able to take my exam because they would not allow the lockdown browser required by my university. While I understand there may have been complications on my school's side, the interactions I had with the supervisor were unpleasant and unhelpful throughout the process. Overall, the experience was frustrating and a waste of time and money. I would strongly suggest students look for another testing center if possible.
