My daughter went to the PCT program at Plano East and took dual credit Collin College courses. When she attended the fall semester, she went to the counselor to plan the most efficient course path for her BSN. Needless to say, the information given was completely wrong and after her third semester she was told she would have to wait over a year to apply to the nursing school. When the Associate Dean of Students was asked for an explanation for their gross incompetence, we were told it was their busy time, and some counselors knew more than others. In my opinion you can't get a better education cheaper than collin. I've gone to the Preston Ridge, the Spring Creek, and the McKinney campus. I find that the Preston Ridge campus has some of the best facilities, the spring Creek campus is the most helpful, and the McKinney campus is under new renovations and expansions! This review is for the Collin College Bookstore ONLY! This is my fourth time going to college (yes, I must be crazy!) and I greatly enjoy coming to this college bookstore. The staff members, which are usually students, are always upbeat, fun, and knowledgeable about the books and supplies needed for each college course offered here at Collin College. It is a small, cozy, and quiet bookstore. They offer general school supplies as well as small electronics that are useful in your classes. This review is specific to the bookstore and it's manager Jessica. I was looking a for a certain book for class and called this campus to see if they had a 6th edition after the Spring creek campus did not. She assured me they had the book I was looking for, so I drove the 30 minutes to pick it up. Preston Ridge bookstore is setup so that only staff can access and grab the books. I asked the gentleman for the book and he came back with the 7th edition stating that that's all they had and that once publishers have a new edition they get the new one and that they use to have them and sold out. I told him I called and spoke with someone at this bookstore that assured me they had it and he was positive they did not as was the case with the Spring Creek store. I called the number I dialed earlier to ensure I was at the right spot, the same girl answered and I verified it was the Preston rigde location and said "it looks like you guys don't have the book" the girl said "ok" and hung up. I got the 7th edition thinking I had no other option and at the register asked the nice lady who answered the phones and told her what had happened. She asked if I wanted to speak with their manager Jessica and I said yes. I wanted to avoid other student coming there for no reason. So i began talking with Jessica and tell her I spoke with someone and verified the edition and she stops me and says what book. I tell her and she walks away and grabs the book I had been looking for (6th edition) and hands it to me with a very smug attitude and says in a condescending way just go to the front she will check you out and turns and walks back to her office. Obviously the gentleman who helped me did not know they had the book, obviously she should have apologized for him giving me the wrong version (that cost 30 more), and more than anything she should have had a teachable moment with her staff since they are the ones finding our books. Instead she tried to make me feel stupid for their error. Totally rude and the worst experience here. I've been here multiple times, and most staff are great. Jessica, their manager, however does not know how to interact with customers or take accountability for their mistakes. read more

I'm so frustrated with Collin. I took courses here in high school, they're making me re register for summer classes. The process took OVER A MONTH. By that time every single class I needed was full and here's the fun part... they don't offer waitlists! Even better: since COVID they don't offer an admissions hotline/help call center! You have to email every single time! Half the time they don't read my emails and they have not offered one helpful suggestion. I was admitted and registered within McLennan county community college in under 24 hours. That compared to over a month is ridiculous. I am a 4.0 baylor student. It should NOT be this difficult. (Btw my high school Collin classes were my lowest college grades I have ever gotten) And what college doesn't offer a waitlist??? There is so much red tape to go though to get anything done at Collin. Save your sanity and literally choose anywhere elseS read more

I love taking classes here. They offer so many great classes and sometimes even free of charge. This little campus is super convenient to where I work, so it's super easy to sneak out for a little while. They also offer a ton of resources for small business owners - I think it's called the SBDC ~ Small Business Development Center?? They can connect you with CPA's, Attorneys...you name it! read more

Horrible experience with Collin college cna program (Plano campus) the instructors (Lee and terry) have made learning the course very difficult . The program was disorganized and when we showed up for clinicals no one knew we were coming ?! The instructors didn't communicate well at all. They picked favorites with students which made the atmosphere quite uncomfortable. It was always about the instructors reputation and never about the career success for the students. I can't tell you how many times she rolled her eyes when she was unhappy or made me feel inadequate . I'm embarrassed for them. It was like high school in their classroom. We had one student drop out in the middle of the course(can't imagine why) there is more to add like them talking about students in front of other students and staff as well. I could go on and on. Whole thing is a NO! Never will I recommend this program . Glad to be done with it! Here's to a new career and not having to deal with that high school in college anymore . read more

I'm an instructor on this campus for Continuing Education but I have also taken some classes. I started here when they were remodeling the inside. It is WAY better then before. Much more modern look. They do have alright PCs, and they have recent Macs. They aren't running the newest Mac OSX, but I had also advised against that as it has problems with the Adobe programs. The bookstore is small, but I'm sure a multi-campus community college doesn't need a large bookstore. There are student lounge areas, and they are nice with plenty of room. The staff is nice, but I'm sure with a negative attitude you won't get far. I'm an upbeat person so I haven't had any issues, other than needing to get my username and password reissued, which I have to do on campus during the day. The classrooms are clean, the remodeling helped. There is a plenty of parking, and if you find the garage there's more. The security guard, I believe it's the Hispanic fellow, takes his job WAY too seriously from my experience. I walked out the door one evening and realized I left my keys in mu classroom. So I ran in, up the stairs, and was walking back when he confronted me. I immediately knew why he was looking for me. I had a laugh about it, he didn't seem all that amused. Another time, before, he followed me through the parking lot and into the paring garage. The way I take to come to campus required me to drive through the parking lot, which says not to just drive through. I was going to the parking garage. It's not as if he can arrest me or ticket me. On a separate subject, I left my 8 Gig USB drive once evening. This is NOT an uncommon occurrence in the classrooms. I went to the security office to retrieve it. turns out the person on shit earlier had taken it home with them "accidentally." I'm not stupid. I did get it back. Now I just don't take anything other than my book into the classrooms. It's a nice campus, as a community college. DOUBT it will be a bustling college/university style campus. I recommend people to go there for the CE classes, and to younger people to start out there. JUST don't leave anything or do anything that will get the security involved. read more

I love taking classes here at the courtyard.I took one class which was in the CNA program. My nursing instructor had taught me well. She is very fun and will push you until you know the material. If your don't understand something be sure let the instructor know and she make it easier for you to learn the material better. read more

The school is nice and clean. I went here for their Dental Assistant program. Let's start by saying that my teacher was awesome, she was super nice, chill, and helpful. However, the class... Not so much. It was a 13 week program classes where twice a week, for 3 hours. We had NO labs, Instruments or mannequins to practice on. We had no hands on, the only way we even saw the instruments was because our teacher brought them from her work to class to show us. The textbook was included in the cost, and we did go over the whole book, but the fact that there was no hands on is what REALLY hurt! We would watch YouTube videos, and read over material in the text book, and have the teacher talk about her everyday life in the office... but that's it. I've been struggling trying to find a job for months now... with NO luck. I don't have enough skills for someone to want to hire me without having to go through the whole training process with me, so I've decided to go back to school for Dental Assistant at ANOTHER school here in the DFW area. I loved Collin College for my Associate Degree, but their Dental Program... totally disappointed. I even talked to the school after I graduated if they could help me find a job or refer me to a place more willing to train... nope. They didn't have ANY Information that could help me.. I would suggest anyone who's looking at going here to keep looking! Find another school! It's not worth it. read more
