Ms Malig, Ms Lisa, Ms Stephanie have all be done a great job! The new Principal Teresa Latizia is doing a phenomenal job in her first year! Early school drop off at 7am (for those who need it) and late after school care and pickup at 6:30pm make this school a great option for those who need a more flexible schedule. We are very happy with our choice to send her here!

This school is on point about notifying families about upcoming school events. What I loved about the kindergarten classes is that they were all named after the colleges that their teachers attended which is pretty cool. I enrolled my son in the 1st grade at HVA West elementary back in 2024, when at the time the principal was a role model of excellence. Having had a terrible incident at a public school in the neighborhood, during his KG year, whereby my little boy was punched in the face repeatedly by another student and I was not informed, I entrusted the staff of HVA with details about my family life thinking this was a safe space for my son to receive the care he requires. At first things were good, but by the second grade the staff changed, for the worse. The lack of respect, understanding and dishonest manipulation when it came to my son's paperwork, and overall safety such as for instance I recently came to find out that someone at HVA West placed my son's abusive father as the primary contact at the DOE, when they very well knew that there was so much family drama/really painful events unfolding that it would endanger my son and I to dismiss me as his primary caregiver and even worse, allow for allegations against me to circulate into a false CPS investigation. I would delve into the details of how finances were involved but I overshared with the school as it was. The stress they put me and my little boy under are unfathomable. The school let us down completely, my son felt unsafe there, I felt unsafe because of the lack of support from office staff, teachers and social workers who were meant to help protect us. My son's emotional health dwindled due to the lack of care and overall support/consideration. I would like to thank a couple of people who kept my son uplifted while he finished the school year, I believe they know who they are. As for everyone else, for shame, truly. It's safe to say that he will not be returning, and best of luck to the few staff members who remained true to their integrity and honored their roles as educators.
