OK, I guess I'm the contrarian in the bunch. I'm the only person who is not giving this place one or two stars... I've been here several times now, each with a $10 off $35 coupon. That makes groceries here effectively super cheap. The selection isn't as big as Mariano's or Whole Foods, but it's not too bad either. Also, they have quite a bit in the way of packaged dry goods, and a small deli section and prepared food section as well. The customer service is mixed. My wife thinks it's pretty good, but I think that a lot of the staff are clearly untrained, and there was very much a "not my department" sort of mentality when I had questions. However, everybody who helped us was super friendly. So I think will come back if we need to grab the one off item. I almost want to support Mariano's, but it's not like they are a small locally owned family run grocery store either. They're also part of a large publicly traded company. So... The organic options are quite limited, so if you're looking for that sort of thing Whole Foods is probably your best bet. There's a cute little alcohol aisle as well, where you need to show your ID to even be admitted into it, pretty cool. Finally, one small hiccup we had was that we were overcharged for items. We grabbed four boxes of spinach to check the expiration date, and ended up putting three of them back. However, we were charged for all four! That would usually be a star or two off, but Amazon makes disputing these sorts of things on their app super easy, no questions asked. I almost wonder if somebody could abuse it. I think the sensor technology and all of the cameras and electronics aren't quite as sophisticated as the Amazon go store. At the end of the day, I'm not sure how competitive this place is compared to other stores. They're clearly doing quite a bit of customer acquisition, with the coupons and flyers that come in the mail. However, when the coupons expire later on, I think I would probably go somewhere else. One real benefit to this place is you don't have to interact with anyone. I guess there is self check out at most stores too, but you also don't have to go through that process because you just walk out of the store as if you're stealing everything you purchased. read more

When this store first opened it was great. As it started to go downhill the reason we continued to shop here was because of their best employee, Shelly. Shelly is efficient, knowledgeable, has a great attitude and will actively seek answers to questions we ask. When we arrive she is the first person we look for and try to checkout with. She is truly the MVP of the Westmont team. As regular shoppers at this location we've had enough interactions with the remaining checkout team members to confidently state that they are severely lacking in every aspect. I've provided specific examples below. When the store has manager specials, the staff must manually input the discounted price for each manager special item. There is a particular staff member that works the register that gets flustered way too easily, especially when it comes to items on manager special. Whenever she is at the register there is a long line to checkout due to her slow pace and inability to handle items that do not scan properly as well as items that do. Her annoyance at having to do her job is evident and manifests into annoyance at customers going as far to loudly make unprofessional comments to her colleagues about customers in front of them (while slowly checking out the remaining items or while needing someone to help her at the register, whom also behaves unprofessionally I might add). Since then we actively seek anyone else to check out with, which are just as slow but have a slightly better overall attitude. When the previously mentioned employee works the register she is also responsible for the self-checkout. If you need assistance at the self-checkout, the employee assigned to the area is the same person working the register. We've waited at self checkout for upwards of 15mins to remove an item that scanned twice. I asked another employee that was lingering around the register for help to which she responded she doesn't have access. This is another area that the team is severely lacking in -- everyone does their very best to pass their responsibilities to someone else to avoid actually working. We've had to stand at the register for 5+mins to even be acknowledged because the cashier (same employee previously mentioned) is gossiping with the 5 other employees standing at her register. These areas of improvement are specific to ~5-6 employees. The customer service team is great as are the employees restocking and in the aisles (shout out to Ebony for her exceptional service & of course Shelly). They alone deserve 5 stars for their professionalism and dedication to providing superb customer service. read more

Used to do my grocery shopping and get pizzas here (small Asian lady made them the best, unfortunately don't see her in the front much anymore). Quality has declined and customer service is gone. Workers are just on their phones and standing around in groups every time I go in now. Went in yesterday the 23rd... the pizzas were all burned so I skipped on that. Deb or Debora? Please be nicer to customers, clearly does not want to work. What a turn off, last straw. I disappointed because it is close to my place and the prices are competitive. Friendliest place I've ever been! They have kids shopping carts (with parent handles). Free fruit for kids. The staff is extremely friendly. Several staff members greeted us with kindness. They gave my toddler many sticker sheets. Extremely great stackable coupons. I make all of my Amazon returns there which gives me $10 off $40 purchases. They sell Whole Foods brands! It's great if you need just one o two items but it's very expensive for their every day items. I bought a deli sandwich from their pre made section and took a bite and they didn't take the plastic off the pepperoni and ended up eating some of it !!! I know everyone makes mistakes but seriously don't want another sandwich from them ever! I wanted to go to one of their fresh stores to see how different it was and saw some of their prices were not bad so we gave it a shot after the first initial buzz of people seeing the new place. First things first, they do have normal store operations. If you want to get a cart and have someone check you out, you can do that. Usually, they only have 1 or 2 cashiers. There are employees everywhere. They are usually picking orders but they are there for any questions. Folks at this location were very friendly. I do someone like my parents having issues with it since it can be a bit tricky if you don't order food through your phone lol. You walk in, and just to walk in, you need to create a barcode from the Amazon app, easy to find but first time you go, they'll be a bit hesitation. They have paper bags and reusable bags to buy. (The brown bags are $0.01 ea.). And you just add items to the bag. It was odd the first time and kept thinking, are we sure they're capturing everything, did we do something wrong? Overall, good experience. They did miscalculate one item out of about 20 something so not terrible. I counted some raspberries twice but we just went into the app to adjust and it was relatively easy as well. Like i said, it's definitely not for folks like my parents that say every office job is working with computers. Pros: -I hate checkouts after a grocery run so having bagged it yourself, this is such a great experience -I love the fact that they're not trying to profit on everything. Other places charge something for bags and charging a penny for a bag is nice, i know its small and silly but it was a takeaway for me as a good thing. -Alcohol is blocked off with an attendant at the start of the aisle so it was nice -Even when its more crowded, it's easy to get around and you wont have to drag along with no line at the end. Cons: -Could use a bit more signs to help. Just some of those first questions you have. They do have some signs but making it easy and simply could help. -you'll need to make sure your order rang up correctly, we needed to make a single adjustment -Sometimes it's hard to spend money and not see the transaction because I like to be very well aware of what I'm spending so it was strange to check my phone to see what the groceries (that I'm walking out with) cost overall. read more

Update: I am removing one of the stars from my original rating. There is one drawback to shopping here, and that is the fact that you don't receive your receipt or see what you're being charged until several hours after your trip is complete. This is the 2nd time out of about 6 trips that I've been overcharged. I was charged for a 12oz raspberry instead of 6oz, which resulted in being charged $4 more than I should have been. The process to get it corrected was not easy. You have to call a call center (overseas) and ask for an adjustment, and it takes quite a while on the phone. I couldn't wait to hang up and get back to my weekend. Then they called back to say they hadn't finished and they wanted to let me know the $4 adjustment was processed and I should see the adjustment in 5 business days. Because of the painstaking process, next time, Im just going to request a refund for the item, because that's the only option that doesn't waste so much of my time for the company's error. Original Review: This is my favorite grocery store. Actually, it's the perfect grocery store for someone like me who has a lot of anxiety atound grocery shopping. I'd much rather go to the dentist than grocery shopping. Usually; but not at this Amazon Fresh. I just grab my reusable bag, scan my Amazon store code, fill up my bag, get a big slice of pizza, and then leave, scanning my code again ln the way out. I can be in and out in under 5 minutes. The things I hate about grocery shopping - waiting in checkout lines while my frozens melt, sorting through bad produce, crowds bumping carts, and that awful smell don't exist at this Amazon Frsh store. I really enjoyed coming here today. It was typical prices for an upscale grocery store. So don't expect Meijer or Walmart grocery prices. Or even jewel prices. Definitely more Whole Foods prices and I didn't see the things you would normally get at Whole Foods either so don't expect that either but I'm not usually a shopper there so don't take my word for that. They have a few selections of meats but not a lot I would go to a larger place if you want a wider variety. The deli selection also left a person wanting a wider selection. What I did enjoy was the hot food area. There was about 6 different soups you can choose from. Many different cold sandwiches you can have prepared or already come prepared and you can pick up and take with you. There is FRESH sushi and poke bowls made right there. Fresh hot BIG pizza for 1.79 per slice. 4 - 5 different kinds. Self serve espresso. Many different kinds also. Lots of bakery items. Chinese food also on the hot food area. Also some salmon and pork brisket type foods it was unclear if these change daily or if they are a constant menu item but I was a choose 2 or three for a price type deal. There is also a Amazon pick up and return package area near the front of the store. Also you can scan to get in and out of the store which takes a bit of getting used to but is quite easy after the first try. If you don't want to walk out with your bagged stuff they do have cashiers. There is also an Amazon device area at the front area if you want to buy an Alexa device while you are there lol. So it's pretty cool. Also they sell some other stuff like instant pots and even a deck of cards against humanity and recipe books. check it out at least. read more

Wanted to give this a try. After reading the very mixed reviews I was skeptical and not expecting much. I was very pleasantly surprised. The store is super clean and organized. The food is all incredibly fresh. Will see if the receipt is correct when it comes Name brand products seemed about the same as jewell/Mariano but there happy belly brand was way less So I would say don't go there looking for cheap prices. Go there for the easy of not waiting in line to check out and for super fresh vegetables, fruits and salads. Tried the sushi and pizza and watched them make both fresh. First time in the store. Was greeted by a friendly woman. I informed her that I had never been there before and asked her how it worked. She gave me a free grocery bag and 3 free snickers bars. There were very few people in the store shopping, and I purposefully went in at an off time, in case I needed help with check out, since I was new to the store. I got the 3 items I wanted and went to the cashier. There was only one cashier open. Nobody was behind me. I asked the cashier what to do and she said to pull up the amazon code. I asked her how to do that and she pressed a button on my phone saying "there scan it". At that time another customer pulled up, and this customer was talking to the 3 free snickers bars in her shopping bag and giggling excitedly. Clearly unbalanced mentally. I told the cashier that the code did not appear and that it was an exclamation mark saying I needed to enter my password. I asked her to please serve the woman behind me as I was feeling pressured. The unbalanced woman had pushed her cart all the way up to where I was standing. The cashier said "No pressure" and for me to continue. As I was typing in my password, the unbalance dare I say crazy woman behind me started yelling and calling me "stupid" and "a loser" and saying that I was "communicating/texting on my phone" instead of checking out. I asked the cashier again to serve the woman behind me. The cashier appeared frozen. The crazy lady behind me pushed her cart even closer, so I pushed it away from me and asked her to give me some space, and if someone else could please help this woman! After some more yelling someone else finally showed up. I was not offered any support and I left because I felt unsafe. I told the cashier that I no longer wish to purchase these items, and that I would never shop here EVER again. I left the free bag and all items. All the while the crazy woman was still yelling at me calling me names from the other check out. I left the store and reported the incident to Amazon when I got home. That crazy customer appeared psychotic and could have had a weapon. I was offered nothing by Amazon. All they did was make a report about the incident and forward it to the Amazon fresh store. ZERO STARS! The staff is untrained at customer service and on how to de-escalate situations! Just terrible! I do not recommend going there. read more

Without a coupon (spend $20 get $10 off) which they've promoted for the grand opening, I will not be shopping here regularly. I've visited twice, combining "regular shopping" via a cash register, and Amazon return drop off. Prices are average. Specialty items such as grass fed, or plant based substitutes to please the vegans are priced high. Produce variety was good but nothing special. The deli counter was almost all Dietz & Watson meats and cheese, priced higher than other grocery stores, with nothing on sale. I was going to buy several deli meats but opted for a combo package of pre-sliced turkey & Ham that was much less expensive, and saved the wait for the new employees to figure out/train on the automatic slicing machine. My wife didn't like the pre-made deli sandwich which was $6. The bread was hard, though I thought the honey dijon condiment was nice. They advertise fresh pizza which I was interested in, but 8am was too early, and there were no house-made frozen options. Meh - I like Pete's Fresh grocery store the best. There is No need for an Additional grocery store in this area. Mariano's located Next Door does everything bigger and better. But maybe you prefer logging in with your Amazon Account, and trust in placing stuff in your cart and walking out with no human interaction. read more

I've tried this store twice, and want to like it -- but both times I was charged for items I didn't buy. They need to work out the bugs in their system, or switch to a smart cart method like the naperville store. It's no good that you can't see what you are paying and don't get your receipt til 1/2 hour later in email, because you can't even check that it's correct before you leave the store. Also, prices are pretty high. Sushi is great, and I'd pick it up for the convenience in the future if I could trust that I'd be charged correctly. read more

I enjoy going to Amazon fresh but my one big concern is the salad bar and a hot bar. They never have the small containers to get a salad bar. And when you go and try and use the dressing they never take the inner label off the salad dressing. Also got a A beef brisket hot sandwich and the brisket was sliced so thick he couldn't chew it had to bring half of it back to get my money back. My advice is if you're going to Serve beef brisket it should be shaved and that is such a thick piece. read more

Went on Wednesday and most of the things I wanted were out of stock. Not much in the way of variety or specialty items. Picture a larger White Hen pantry style store. There was a small deli and a small hot food section. Prices were fair but not great. Produce was average and fresh meat and seafood were sparse. I spent around $60 on paper products and shelf stable stuff and laundry detergent so I could use my $20 off $50 coupon. This was my first and last trip. Also many people not wearing masks in store. The produce is dismal. Like gross and old. I bought some garlic and fingerling potatoes. When I went to use them the next day the potatoes were dried out and full of eyes. Every single garlic bulb was ready to sprout. The green onions were literally chopped to the green part. Most everything is pre packaged..even bananas? Meats are overpriced and tiny portions. The pre cut fruit looked like they had been sitting there for days. You could see them starting to disintegrate. I wanted some chorizo from the meat counter. Nobody around. I use the app where it says you can order and pick it up. Problem is they don't have half the things on the app to do a pick-up. I passed. They do have good condiments and hot sauces. If you use SNAP/EBT..go to Aldi. Which is what I should've done. Apparently you can't purchase non snap items with a cc. You have to have cash because it's only 1 transaction per customer. No signs anywhere about that if you use snap. I had to put back some face wash. But beware..if you use snap/ebt you can't buy anything else unless you have cash. Ridiculous. Also I had to put back habanero peppers because that's not covered by snap. Cool. You can buy ice cream but not peppers? I had a lot of groceries and there were 2 ppl behind me with maybe 2 things. I apologized even though it wasn't my fault. I felt bad for holding them up but nobody bothered to take care of them at another register. There was only 1 register open and I was having so much trouble with the bs about not doing more than one transaction and then having to put stuff back and reswiping my card.
