This was the second time I have been to this Urgent Care. They prescribed me the one medication I am allergic to. They already had this information in their system from a previous visit, I put it on the check in form today, and we even verbally confirmed the medication I am allergic to and they still prescribed it. I had to call the clinic, get a different medication sent to the pharmacy. read more

When my kids wake up sick or it's a weekend, I have always used Amarillo Urgent Care. My son is autistic and ADHD, they take such good care of him! He actually loves going there. Took my son in with flu like symptoms. They did a Covid test, strep test, and a flu test. After waiting quite a while, the doctor came in and said he had Covid. She never even looked at him--she didn't listen to his lungs or heart, didn't check his ears or throat. Absolutely nothing. She just pushed the drug Paxlovid. We said we didn't want that. She wrote him a few prescriptions and walked out of the room. She was very rude. There are much better places in town. Avoid this one at all costs! read more

I was wondering why so many 1-star reviews and now I know because you can't rate them 0 stars. So today I went in for a COVID-19 test to check in you fill out a paper that is placed on a small wooden nightstand stand from the early sixties after filling out your paperwork complete with name social security number date of birth and address you place it face down for security I guess in the drawer. After they get that paper from the nightstand, they will call you then you go in and they will give you more papers to fill out and take your id and insurance card (please note how their eyes light up when they see your insurance card) next call is to take the actual test that takes about 3 minutes. The lady who administered the test said it would take about 15 mins when I pointed out the sign on the wall that said up to two hours, she said ok you can go. So, I receive a call saying to come in for my results ?? when I pointed out I was 15 mins away she got really upset and said I had to come in for my results and I had to call when I got back because they can't just let anyone in the building. So, I get back and call they said come inside they then took me to an examination room because I had to see the PROVIDER!!! After about 20 minutes in comes the PROVIDER. She asked me to have a seat and whips out her stethoscopes that when I remembered how their eyes lit up when I produced my insurance card. I then refused to allow her to do anything but give me the results of my COVID-19 test. I'm sure had I allowed her to check my pulse heart or anything else my bill would have been outrageous I will log on to my insurance website and make sure they didn't pad the bill. read more

Went in for Covid rapid test for travel (which is acceptable as others were boarding with same test - we all tested negative). Showed up at airport and was told the paper work was unacceptable for travel. The agent at the United counter said this was not the first time and they had called Amarillo Urgent Care and told them their paperwork was lacking - no response. I was not allowed to board my plane and therefore missed every flight after that and there were no replacement flights. Had to tell my kids we were not allowed to take Christmas Vacation and had to go home (after hours of trying to get other flights). They owe me thousands and an apology to my entire family. I am sure I signed paperwork that said I cannot sue them but my lawyer is checking - if you are flying stay away!!! They have no clue what they are doing. This facility should be closed immediately. read more

I visited this office a couple times for minor problems with daughters and didn't have issues with payments till the third time. They assigned us to a nurse practitioner who turned not to be in my insurance network. Despite that they made the mistake, they tried to blame the insurance for it. After speaking to my insurance and their head of billing a few times, they promised to try to figure out something. Surprisingly, I still got a final notice for paying or collection. I highly do not recommend this office as they were very uncooperative and dishonest. Of course I will be complaining with the state too. This should not be happening to anyone! Update: I received many calls from their manager, Cris. She seemed understanding and reasonable when I explained what happened to her. Non the less after too many correspondences over the past few months following this review, I never got reimbursed. When i called her she told me that they never found the payment, I sent her my credit statement showing the payment, I never heard back. read more

Woke up this morning with scratchy chest, sore throat and congestion. No fever . I've been isolating very well throughout the pandemic and doubt this is Covid 19 but since I am scheduled to fly in 9 days thought the socially responsible thing to do was get tested. Could not get an appointment time out of a drug store website, so called AUC to see if they are still testing as my family had a good testing experience last year. The woman I spoke to said1:30 was a good time because "we usually have a lull then". Well if that's a lull I feel sorry for them. They were swamped. I filled out the paper and asked if I should wait in my car, but was told to wait inside and I'd be called shortly. Over an hour later, after exposing myself to more contagion than I have in the past two years, I decided that although I was masked, I was unwilling to breathe any more of that contaminated air and left, untested. I guess I thought that an elderly woman who might have Covid would have been seen promptly if not prioritized. Not. To be fair, my experiences with this clinic in past years have all been positive, today though something seemed to have changed. read more

I didn't have to wait long but I went in with a UTI and got a prescription. I took the entire prescription and still had pain, worse pain. I went back in a week later and she gave me a different antibiotic and I took the last one today and I'm still in pain. I paid both visits in full. Both visits were $75 each time. $60 for the office visit and $15 for the urinalysis. I few days later I got a bill for $60. I was like wth. Now I have to go somewhere else while between insurance benefits. My caregiver said sorry I gave you a wrong prescription and they were uninterested in helping me when I called. I am a RN, so I get the chance to see and experience healthcare of varying quality every day. I know that one of the most effective diagnostic tools a HCP can use is their ears - listening to your patient is VERY important. I visited Amarillo Urgent Care this week for a simple problem, but one that has a detailed history in my life... The receptionist was very friendly and efficient, and the technician who took my vitals was just as nice. I was assigned to a physician's assistant, that's the last of good experiences during this visit. Prior to PA entering my exam room, I could hear the tech and PA having a conversation about my case outside in the triage area... I know that their speaking of my medical information outside within earshot of other patients was a DIRECT violation of my patient rights through HIPPA. Strike one. While trying to relay my medical history I was interrupted numerous times by this PA who was telling me she already knew what my problem was... She stopped me in the middle of giving my medical history and rudely said "Okay, but what's going on NOW?" At this point I realized she was uninterested in hearing what I had to say, and she was obviously in a hurry to get to other patients. Strike two. She refused to run any lab tests, and she refused to prescribe any pain relief meds. She tried to prescribe an antibiotic that I am allergic to (even though it was on my chart right in front of her) and I had to correct her. Strike three. This woman had HORRIBLE bedside manner and she made it very clear that she was not seeing me to "listen" she was simply there to process another patient through the gates. People like these are the ones giving Urgent Care clinics a bad name... I can tell you one thing, I am going to find a good primary care physician and say adios to urgent care clinics for good! read more

I sent my daughter to AUC, ONLY BECAUSE they are the only UCC in town with rapid COVID testing! They were soooooo rude to her! It took her 3 hours to get a rapid test & get results. Would have been longer, but they closed while she was waiting!! The paperwork is ridiculous- but oh how excited they get with getting your insurance info! Most of the staff DO NOT WEAR MASKS! My daughter was appalled. When she was finally called in for her results - they acted like they had idea why she came in and one girls was laughing at her. The most unprofessional medical clinic ever!! I am a RN and worked at an UCC for 10 years! We are all working a lot & tired, but that does not given anyone an excuse to be rude. Then she was just handed some paperwork. NEVER TOLD RESULTS - she had to got back in and ask an unmasked receptionist to explain her paperwork- & get her results. We will NEVER return here again! I'm not paying for unprofessional, rude & inadequate healthcare! Do yourself a favor-- DO NOT SET FOOT IN THIS PLACE! Would have given a "zero", but not an option! Ladies on the front desk are wonderful. The nurse practitioner in the back has an attitude problem. After explaining my hx symptoms and pain she actually stated that I Was not I'm pain. And that it was just pressure. Tried to prescribe me an antibiotic that has not worked before and stated the one that did work is not used to to treat my infection. Which is wrong. Then she asked if I needed a note for work and asked me the dates, but then refused to write it saying that it was too much time. Typical BSA behavior. The hospital next door is no better. read more

Came by at 650 pm they close at 8 pm on a Sunday. They said it was too late to be seen. My son probably just needed a couple of stitches or glue for a small cut. Would not see him. A suggestion for the clinic, if you won't see anybody past 7, close at 7 not 8. read more

Go anywhere else! I'd only go here if I didn't have insurance, because this place is cheap as far as urgent care goes ($60 + 75% of tests/procedures for private pay), though clearly you get what you pay for. I went in on January 1st, and they said I hadn't met my deductible yet (not surprising as it was the first day of the new year). Because of this, I'd need to pay $120 (double the expense of private pay/no insurance) plus 75% of tests/procedures. They said this was policy, though couldn't actually show me a copy of this policy when I asked for it. It felt like a scam, especially because they couldn't give me any copy of anything that would guarantee my money back after they filed with my insurance and found I owed much less than $120. Also, they didn't tell me this until I'd waited for an hour. So I went to BSA Urgent Care on 45th and Bell and was seen within the hour, after paying my usual copay of $25. Also, BSA Urgent Care had working wifi and heat! read more

I came in because I was visiting Amarillo an left my Zyloprim medication back home. Needed a 2 week supply of a non-controlled medication. I have a high deductible out of network and would be having to cover the cost of my visit. Despite my providing the staff with some limited medical records, including recent labs ( I keep them in my phone), I was ordered a few hundred dollars worth of lab test. I have essentially no medical history other than gout arthritis. I asked to lab ordering provider to review my records and reconsider the necessity of the labs test and she offered me the option of paying for my visit and leaving empty-handed or doing the lab test and paying for it all. I mentioned that the lab test were pretty high priced and I thought she was ordering them to generate revenue, and she said, "we have to make our money somehow". Unfortunately, as I already had checked in and been seen (and literally seen as all she did was look at me and order expensive unnecessary test), and couldn't leave without getting billed so they had me over a barrel. I travel a lot with my work so I have had more than my share of Urgent Care visits. I've never had a place order labs that I had a few months ago and then admit it's just to raise my bill. Never. And then you're just stuck there, they'll bill you if you leave. It essentially amounts to fraud. I share some of the other criticism posted by others here about the staff's lack of concern about privacy but I really don't care if the world knows I have gout. But I can imagine the frustration you would get if had anything you wanted to keep private. read more

A year ago I was sick with bad cold symptoms, of course, this was during covid and they had a sign out that they had a 15 minute covid test. I had looked and looked for different options but there were no other choices on the day I needed the test. I drove the 50 miles to get the test. They would not let you in the building and there was a cold rain coming down. You had to fill out a paper and lay it face down in an old cabinet drawer that was probably not even watertight. I was then told that I had to go back to my car and wait for them to call me. I ended up sitting in the parking lot in the rain for over 7 hours. When they finally called me a young girl checked my insurance card and then stuck a swab about an inch into my nose and did not even retrieve any mucus. I was told to go back to my car and they would call me when they had my results. Over an hour later, I honestly do not recall how long I waited for the second call, It was, after all, a year ago. When they did call they took me back to a room where a provider came in and told me that the test was negative. She asked me if I needed anything else and I told her that covid was my only concern. I was shown out and drove the hour back home. I continued to get sicker and sicker. After 2 weeks I finally called a teledoc that is part of my health insurance plan. He prescribed an inhaler and a zith pack. I went to my regular doctor a month later for a regular checkup and was still having problems with painful breathing and had low oxygen levels. My doctor diagnosed me with pleurisy and ran a covid antigen test. She wanted me back a week later. When I went back she used the medical term that I had a "boatload" of antibodies. The Amarillo Urgent Care had absolutely blown it. The reason I am doing this review now is because about 2 weeks ago I received a bill for $304 for that fiasco of a test. We called them and informed them that under the CARES act the test should have been free with our insurance. They said, to shut us up I am sure that they would check in to it. Today we got our "FINAL NOTICE" bill still for $304 and were advised in the letter that we should contact our insurance company if we disagreed with the charges. We checked my insurance account online and it is apparent that the bill was never submitted to the insurance company. I hope people pay attention to all of these 1 star reviews because this place is either incompetent or just plain thieves. Jim B read more

I never went back. 1st visit 2012 I had a NP. This broad copped an attitude. She wrote 4 rx's then complained the visit should be more than $60. 3 rx were essential meds. I moved here and didn't have a primary or specialist yet. Gee thought you were here for service. Bet she wouldn't have liked someone talking to her family or friends like that. This place was terrible!!! Paid my $35 copay and saw a doctor in a kimono and cowboy boots! My daughter had a terrible diaper rash and the dr seemed to think it was minor, he wrote Dr Smiths rash ointment on prescription pad and told us to get it a walgreens over the counter, charged me $160 for that, then I received a bill in the mail 2 months later saying my insurance had denied the claim, only bc the patient on the bill was me not my daughter. After countless calls and some not even returned 5 months later they finally sent the right claim with my daughter as the patient and services were covered!!! read more

Don't go here for anything!!! We went in for my Mom. She is 78 and was in a lot or pain. Every time they went to get supplies to work on my Mom they were out or the supplies they needed. Never once offered her anything for pain. Then told me they had spent 30 minutes with us. And there were other patients waiting. As I explained we had waited our turn too. We did finally get out. It would have been better to go anywhere else!!!! read more

I have been to quiet a few urgent cares and they are usually hectic. Amarillo Urgent Care has a peaceful feeling though. I have used them many times for myself and three children. The wait times are usually a lot shorter then I plan on. Sometimes I am even in and out within an hour. The take most insurances, including medicaid. The staff is friendly. I feel like I am getting good treatment. The waiting area and rooms are kept clean. read more

Do not go here unless it is a last resort. I was the second person in the door at 8:00 a.m...waited an hour with five people being called in before me. When I went to the desk, she tells me that my file will be put in the line soon. I wasn't even in the group waiting to be seen. I left and came to a different urgent care center...they were busy but I was in a room within 15 minutes, seen by a doctor and out in an hour.
