After about four months of struggling with PPD, I made the decision to pursue permanent birth control a decision I now deeply regret. I was told by Dr. Cheruba Prabakarthat my tubes could not be tied and that they had to be removed. During the consultation, she asked if I wanted more children. At the time, while clearly struggling emotionally, I said no. She stated that since I was 39, it was a good age for this procedure if I did not want more children. I understand that the decision was 100% mine, however the state of mind I was in was not capable of making a life-changing, irreversible decision. I strongly believe that when working with women -- especially postpartum women -- it is a physician's responsibility to recognize warning signs of postpartum depression and emotional distress and to implement safeguards in their practice. What I needed at that time was help and support for my PPD, not a permanent procedure that altered my body forever. Instead, the process felt quick and not thorough. There was no screening for postpartum depression, no encouragement to wait, and no discussion about how temporary emotional states can affect long-term decisions. Now, three years later, I am 42 years old and desperately want another child. Time is running out. I am now facing IVF, with no guarantee that my insurance will cover it since this is considered a decision I made for myself. My eggs are older, the odds are lower, and the emotional and financial burden is overwhelming. I wish there had been more caution, more counseling, and more time given before moving forward. I also hope that by sharing this experience, changes can be made so that another woman in a vulnerable postpartum state is not placed in this position. I am beyond sad and angry about my situation, I wish i could of tide my tubes and maybe reversal would of been an option now there is nothing absolutely nothing i can do. and time is running out.

This was a basic laparoscopic procedure performed by Julie Clark. She also left me with a 15 cm…read morehematoma across my abdomen which is most likely related to blunt trauma. Not only was I left in horrific pain, but I woke up to a puddle of my blood on the floor with a golf ball like mass sticking out of my incision. She opened me back up in the recovery room while the nurse gave me Valium and morphine, what seemed like triple of what they should have been giving me. My friends watched in horror. After the procedure I needed paperwork in order to withdrawal from classes for the semester as I couldn't even walk from the amount of pain I was in. Julie wrote "no complications. Lost less than 100 mL of blood". After I reviewed my blood work, I discovered that I lost almost a liter of blood. I almost needed a transfusion. This woman should never be allowed I touch another human being. Oh and before all of this, she made me wait in pre op for 10 hours before she canceled my surgery because "she had to watch her niece". The hospital gave me a $25 gift card for the inconvenience. If you're ever needing medical attention, go elsewhere!

Anyhow, They are moving downstairs to 250 instead of the third floor. They offer 3D/4D ultrasound now. And they are very informative and want you to attend the classes offered by QVMC. I look forward to my visits and am sad to say goodbye :(

The clothe they gave me to cover barely covered anything. The gel they used for the ultrasound apparently was just going to be left on me while the rest of the appt continued. I had to ask for towels to clean up my chest. The assistant brought back the smallest wet towels to help clean up but I had to ask her to go back multiple times to get more. I was left on a table completely naked. Imagine a table napkin is all you are given to cover yourself. The worst part was when Dr. Armstrong asked me to help with the procedure for the pap smear. I can't go into details here, but I will be filing a complaint with the board. I want to warn women not to go and to not let your daughter's go either.
