Many years ago, when I first moved to Birmingham, I was at the beach (Seaside, FL) and was…read morerandomly treated to a mimosa in one of the cottages that I had admired for a long time. It was a beautiful morning, nothing out of the ordinary, I was on my walk through the winding pathways to the shopping district. As I stopped to admire the house that I loved so much, the owners just happened to be there, (saw me gawking), and invited me in to see the place, and share a mimosa. Yes. The house was fabulous - something that us "common folk" could never imagine owning. Yes. The owners found me peering through the scrub oak at the fabulous abode that they tried so hard to make their "intimate get away place". And Yes. This homeowner was kind enough to satisfy my curiosity and invited me in (not to mention offering me a mimosa)! That tells you a little about the owner of Richard Tubb Interiors! And that's just the kind of guy he is. Warm, kind, genuine, inviting. And that's just what his showroom down on 2nd South is - warm and inviting. It's not stuffy, it's comfy & cozy. It's not full of crap that some of us would never dream of having in our homes. It's filled with clean, crisp, beautiful furnishings that invite you to just come in and sit a spell. I have been shopping at Richard Tubb for well over 12 years. It's been my go to place for "big girl furniture". There is always something new and exciting in store for me - whether it be the BEST sofa I've ever sunk into or the newest line of candles that I must have. My home is an evolving project - I always have something in the works. Richard's team of designers (they are all great, but I have my favorite - Sam! He just "gets" me) are there to help me make the perfect decision when I am lost on the entire set up or to just nail the decision down when I need a little validation. They have a vast selection of the most fabulous moderately priced home furnishings, but can totally amp it up to extraordinary, if need be. Very well rounded, very good selection, very conscious designers. **Richard introduced himself to me that morning at the beach, although I didn't know much about Birmingham and had no idea who he was. He was not boastful or overly proud, he was just a nice guy with an awesome beach house. I still walk by Chatham on my visits to the beach and recall the very friendly gentleman who invited me in for a mimosa and to share his great place. Unfortunately, the place has changed lots (as much of 30A has), but I will always remember that morning - And maybe that's the reason (along with SAM!) that I keep my business at RT.

Richard provides incredible service. I am not an upscale customer but he has always treated me as…read moreif I were. When he comes in to decorate, I love how he tells you to leave your home, and presto, he turns what you have into something beautiful. He has a great gift! Windy W.

I was given a gift card to this place by a good friend. I had never heard of this store, but my…read morefriend knows me well because when I entered last week, I was so happy to see all the different items made by people all around the world. I was able to talk with the manager (or maybe owner) and she told me they work with 400 cooperatives in 59 countries across the world. The first time I went, I didn't buy anything because there were so many different things and I wanted more time to really look at everything. There were household goods, instruments, shoes, blankets, jewelry, art, and so much more. Prices range from low to high, but all are fairly priced to help promote economic development in the countries that send the goods. The second time I went, I took my husband with me. He settled on a Gourd Shaker made in Peru and I purchased earrings made in Kenya. While we were there, we saw a djembe that we will probably go back and get. I highly suggest you stop by. You'll probably find several things you like! Oh, this place is great for finding unique gifts. I'll be a repeat customer.

I was working in the area, and browsing Yelp for a gift shop downtown, as I don't often make it to…read moredowntown Birmingham. I discovered this place and checked it out because they offered a 10% discount on Yelp. Anyway, I was looking for a cool Valentine's Day gift (plain old roses and chocolate covered off-season strawberries just don't cut it for me), so I checked this place out. I found a great gift for my lady, as well as a pair of silver earrings for my mother for Mother's Day so that shopping is done :) ! I will need to remember to come back next time I need to find a unique gift and I don't know what to get.
