I just wanted to let y'all know that my plant from here is thriving and doing well. Love this nursery. Staff was friendly and not pushy. They greet you and direct you and go on to tending to the lavish supply of many outdoor and indoor plants. My friends helped me pick this out. I forgot the name but she is doing well and requires minimal attention just water once a week and a sunny place in my house. Prices are a bit more here but quality and longevity of plants last. I'll be back soon to get some more. Store itself is just heavenly and tranquil. I wish I had more of green thon to do some outdoor stuff. But indoor plants really zen out a home if you get the right ones. read more

I've been to the other location and thought I'd check this out when I was in the area for something else. Really impressed! This location, as well as the other one, are a couple of the nicest nurseries I've ever been to. Plant quality is of the highest level and the selection is really good as well. They have an indoor garden center that has all sorts of gardening decor (like pots and things of the sorts) to go along with other garden related nick knacks for the home. Also, they have some great seasonal stuff on display when you first walk into the indoor section - assuming this rotates through different seasons and holidays. I do think prices are slightly higher than some of the other places like this I've been to, but the quality here is off the charts and the employees are all so friendly and helpful. Really need to come back with my wife, I think she would love shopping at this place. read more

I am a plant mom and I was blown away by this L&P location. I have been to the Cahaba Heights location as well as the botanical gardens location. The Mountain Brook location is smaller than the other stores but what they lack in size they make up for in quality and variety. I was also blown away by some plants I found at a good VALUE! I do not think value when I think of this store but y'all, look close and it's there. I bought air-plants for the first time so I hope to update the post with their survival story. read more

This is a great garden shop that I have been to on a few occasions in the past. But apparently I have not written a review yet! Most recently, we needed small pumpkins to send to school with our kids. They had a great selection and were able to provide exactly what we needed. This location is right in the heart of Mountain Brook Village. It is not quite as big as the new Cahaba Heights location. But bigger than the BBG one. In this area of Mountain Brook, there is not a lot of room for expansion. So you can't expect to get much bigger. The seasonal selection they have is always really good and looks really healthy. That is one of the reasons I prefer to buy at places like this rather than big box stores. No need to sift through the bad plants. The staff is always extremely helpful. I've been wanting plants for a while and since I was in Mountain Brook I decided to stop by to see what they had. I was immediately impressed by their vast selection and honestly fell in love. I don't know much about plants but knew I wanted some indoor ones. A young sales attendant helped me with my request and showed me a bunch of indoor plants that would be ideal for my living situation. He was extremely helpful and helped me pick out a couple plants that I personally liked. The prices seemed pretty reasonable ($4-6) for a plant that was about palm shaped. I really enjoyed the place and will probably check out their other stops in the city if these plants do well. read more

We just had an excellent experience buying the coolest pumpkins from Leaf & Petal! We planned on going to a pumpkin patch, but didn't end up having time. Pam was so sweet in taking pictures of my girlfriend and I, and it softened the blow of not being able to go to a patch. Will definitely be regular customers there! They have very unique pumpkins from tiny to enormous, it's the place to go for all your fall needs!! read more

I first visited the store at the Summit for the second time searching for a particular evergreen plant to replace the ones on my front porch! The first time I was told to give them my name and I would receive a call when this plant came in. Since I never received a call, I drove to the Summit to see if these evergreens had come in. A very nice salesman showed me what he had to offer; it was not what I wanted. So he took me to Jamie, the owner; he called him "the gate keeper!" Jamie never put down his hose, would not look at the picture I was trying to show him, said he did NOT know the name of such a plant; and then brushed me off by saying, "give me the name of the plant, and I will see if I can help you!" I did not know the name of the plant is why I brought the picture and some actual foliage from the original plant. I will take my business elsewhere!! read more

Leaf & Petal is my go to nursery because of both the selection and the staff. The staff is immensely helpful - bring in a container, even one purchased from someone else, and they will help you step by step with everything you need to make a beautiful arrangement. I was making a terrarium and was even given a hand drawn diagram of what to put where for best results. The prices on their plants are slightly more than the big box stores, but they are sure to last longer, the shopping experience will be better, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. read more

The Leaf and Petal just opened a new location in Cahaba heights just down the street from their old store. Their plants are beautiful and they have accessories in the store that are great accents for the home. If looking for a place to buy hanging plants or Japanese Maple they have a great selection. This store has been around as long as I can remember (I shopped there as a child in the 70s), but I hadn't been in recent years until today. I'd bought a bulb at their store at the Botanical Gardens and went to the store in Mountain Brook Village to get a plastic liner for a decorative pot I already had. I found Deanna at the register and showed her what I had. She said, "You need a plastic pot to fit inside this. I can do that for you!" She got a plastic pot, planted my bulb in soil, watered it, dropped it into my decorative pot, added some beautiful moss, and even told me how to care for it. On top of that, she did all that for free! I was so impressed by the service, I look forward to going back and recommend this store the next time you need a plant and/or a decorative container. You'll get the plant, a lovely pot, AND a knowledgeable person to help you, all in the same place. read more
