Diane's knowledge was showcased throughout it all and she was there for every step. Her staff was just overall amazing; they were punctual, professional and kind. We did a buffet style dinner and had ample menu options to choose from; she gave guidance for food pairings, which was extremely helpful for decision making. The food was to die for. My relatives were blown away by how everything tasted and the beautiful manner it was served... which we took credit for (thanks for the suggestions, Diane!), I need to give major thanks to the true genius behind it all. 10/10 best salmon I've ever had.

It's tucked right between Newfield and Springdale, and it has such a versatile vibe--it's quiet enough for a professional business lunch but refined enough to celebrate something special. My wife and I stopped by for their soft opening and were honestly blown away. From the moment the appetizers hit the table until the last bite of dessert, you could tell how much care went into the preparation and presentation. A few standouts: * The Grilled Octopus: It's hard to find someone who does this right, but theirs was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. * The Filet Mignon: Total "melt-in-your-mouth" quality. Perfectly cooked. * Desserts: Do not skip these. They were decadently delicious and the perfect way to cap off the meal. It's great to have a spot of this caliber right on the golf course.

I generally don't like Margaritas, but I went with staff's recommendation and got El Fuego - wow, what a delight! Smokey, spicy, and not sweet. Precisely as I like it. We got a few appetizers for the table to share. Japanese milk bread was a riot. One serving contains three pieces of bread and whipped butter. I probably can make a whole dinner from that margarita and a couple of plates of this bread. Just sublime, you need to try it to believe it. Corn fritters were good, soup dumplings, all very nice. I had short rib special as my main dish and it was superb, melt in your mouth and perfectly seasoned. We shared toffee pudding and butter cake after dinner and they were all tasty. Excellent service - prompt, friendly, attentive. Definitely recommended.

The host who seated us was friendly, and our server was attentive. The menu includes a variety of "small plates," larger entrées, and a small selection of sushi rolls. The beverage menu offers an extensive selection of crafted cocktails as well as mocktails, and there is a small curated wine list. My party chose to order the lunch specials that are offered on weekdays. These include a choice of house or cucumber salad, and two small plates or sushi rolls for a fixed price. Both salads were flavorful and good-sized portions. We loved the spicy crab, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura rolls! I was impressed that they removed the inedible portion of the shrimp tail on the latter, something most restaurants fail to do. But, can we talk about the Detroit-style pizza? Not only was it authentic, but it was absolutely delicious! As someone who grew up in Detroit, Blackbird did a phenomenal job with it, and made me feel nostalgic. I have been to many restaurants in downtown New Canaan over the past several years. I cannot wait to return for another meal at Blackbird!

I had a great time celebrating my friend's need addition earlier this summer. The event itself was…read morenice. The VIP had some awesome event planners in her sister, friends and family. With that being said, the venue left more to be desired. We were welcomed into the event space, which was beautifully decorated. Soon after my friend arrived, the manager/owner (?) announced that the food was being served. In my opinion, it was too soon. They didn't give her a chance to make her rounds and greet everyone that was there for her. Yes, the guests had been there for maybe 30 minutes, but it was a surprise event and the hosts should have been in charge of the timing and event itinerary. We ate and everything was really good. The food was awesome so I have no complaints with that. We played a cpl games and then they announced the cake service. Again, it felt super rushed. By this time, it was only around 230 and feel like we were only there for 2 hours. It wasn't supposed to be over until around 4/430,as per the invitation. They had a dessert table with tons of treats. We had containers to take the extras home. I asked one of the servers for a plastic bag and he told me I would gave to wait because it was the chef's birthday. I thought that was an off response, but he mentioned that the staff was singing him happy birthday in the back, which meant anything we needed was on hold until they finished. I thought that was an odd explanation. Why couldn't they wait until after the event? Very odd. Another odd thing I noticed was that one of the servers walked around and began serving red and white wine to the guests seated at the tables. I found it odd because there was an open bar and most of the guests were elderly women, pregnant women, and young girls, that were not drinking any alcohol. At least three tables out of the 5 or 6 in all, did not drink alcohol because they were either teens, pregnant or elderly. I also did not drink any wine because I already had a drink from the bar, so it was I was double fisting and left the wine that was poured, untouched. I'm unsure if my friend was charged for that but I would have been pissed if I was charged for that. The unopened bottles should have stayed on the table unless a guest opened one or asked for it to be opened, and no one requested this. In the end, everything was beautiful. I really wish that I didn't leave so early. I thought the event was over because if felt like the venue was rushing us out and there was still 90 minutes left. It halted because of one of the kitchen staff member's birthdays. On the bright side, my gf now has a beautiful and precious baby girl and I'm extremely happy for her.
