We decided to follow Rick Steve's advice for once to give it a try. The restaurant service was good, it had a beautiful court yard where we dinned. Although our server tried to describe the dishes, other than chicken, veal we could not make out how the meats were cooked until my wife used a Google translator. I had the roasted chicken breast with lemon sauce and pasta, my wife had the veal cooked in mushroom sauce Lucerne style. The chicken breast was very moist, with the Lemmon sauce I was in heaven! The veal and mushroom sauce were delicious! With two small house beers the bill came to be less than 80 CHF! It was the best dinner we have had in our 15-day journey through Switzerland! We will be back the next time we are in Lucerne.

When we arrived about 20 minutes early there was no problem. Our table was reserved overlooking the lake. Perfect. We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel served with a warm potato salad and white Asparagus served with Hollandaise sauce. First a complimentary appetizer with lox and cream cheese served with a bit of cous cous spreads. The bread was homemade and out of this world delicious. It appeared with two different spreads. The pinck spread was a roasted red pepper and cream cheese with crumbled pink peppercorns. I couldn't figure out the green one but it was equally delicious. ...divine. Then the main courses were served. The Wiener Schnitzel was huge. It was as thin as could be imagined, perfectly tender and seasoned well. The warm potato salad was great but decided quickly that it was filler and we had a plate full of perfect veal and wonderful asparagus to eat! There was so much food. No room for dessert. So sad. Highly recommend. Can't wait to return. Make a reservation in advance. Service is tops. You will not be rushed. Class act.

We were here in the off season, but the restaurant was still packed so I was thankful I made a reservation in advance. The sweet and lovely waitresses spoke nearly perfect English and had a table for us despite being a half hour early. Ambiance feels like a dark beer tavern but very clean. We didn't hear a peep of English from any other tables. $25 Whole Roasted Chicken...the divine crispy skin is generously seasoned with a secret sensational blend of spices throughout, while the meat is tender and juicy. We spent an extra $2 for the "House Sauce", which made everything even better. You can also spend $19 for a half chicken, but you really should spend the extra $6 for a whole and share it. $11 Salad...gotta eat your veggies $4 Pommes Frites, aka Fries, gotta have these! $7.50-8...we got a couple of large 500ml glasses of Swiss beer. $3 1.5liter carafe of that refreshing Swiss tap water. I'll come back Luzern someday just for the sake of eating this roast chicken. TRAVEL TIP 1: The Swiss frown about sharing plates, so one person should get the whole chicken while the other gets the "salad" as their main dish. TRAVEL TIP 2: Swiss restaurant prices include tax and tip...so our $61 dinner is more like $48 from an American perspective.
