Ernesto did a very tricky restoration of my vintage 1920s bathroom fixtures. Tiles had to be broken and a wall behind the bathtub in the kitchen had to be excavated to reveal pipes to be replaced. He & his tile guy Pedro found a perfect tile match, re-tiled the missing bathroom tiles and repaired and re-painted the kitchen wall. Ernesto arrived in 1 hour, exactly when he said he would arrive. He created a strong temporary fix for the problem, with clear recommendations on how to move forward. Shows the initiative to research on-line the Dornbracht parts needed to be replaced for a permanent fix. Really---who does this any more? Only Ernesto! No idea how people have so many good reviews on AM PM Plumbing, but I would never recommend anyone to use their service. They were beyond terrible. I had a toilet emergency late at night, and, yes it was great the plumber came out so late to work on it. But, he had no idea what he was doing. He brought a snake, used it, and then made my toilet overflow. No apology, just didn't care. Toilet overflowed with sewage on my floor, all he does is give me a used towel, tell me I owe him $75 because he used a snake, gave me a pair of gloves so I can clean up the mess, and said sorry I can't fix this. I called another plumber that same night, who fixed it immediately. These guys have no idea what they're doing and don't care about customer service. I recommend that everyone avoids using AM PM at all cost. read more

The Good: Ernesto picked up his phone, was very communicative, his guy showed up on time, and he fixed the faucet in 10 minutes. The Bad: They wanted $130 for 10 minutes of work. I was pretty shocked by the price and asked him why it was so much money for such a quick fix. His reply was that I lived in an expensive neighborhood and that they also charge for travel time. Their business address in West Hollywood is maybe 2 miles away from our house. I get that they need to have a minimum service call charge and I would have been happy to pay $50, but I found this to be much too expensive for the 10 minute fix. I ended up paying $80 cash, which I still feel was too much. read more

I again used ERNEST to do a major job, as again the home warranty would not cover: this involved taking a camera underneath the ground to look and see what was causing the blockage, roots, of course, in the pluming and then a MAJOR REPAIR job to fix. ERNEST did exactly as he said he would, the repair took 2 days and was not inexpensive but I feel it was very good value. He says it should last for an infinite amount of time. Called on a Sunday around 3PM after my amateur skills had failed to make any improvement on a complete clog in our kitchen. He arrived at 5PM, fixed the kitchen mess so we had him sort out our slow flowing bathroom sink as well, which required replacement of the trap and some other parts due to years of nasty gunk build up. All done and cleaned up by 6:30, with very clean, courteous service. All you could want from a plumbing service at reasonable prices. We needed a new plumbing company to service our apartment buildings, and we chose AM/PM. Ernesto's first job for us was in March 2019. For $4540 he serviced multiple apartment units. The work was clean and professional, so Ernesto became our go-to guy. In June we asked for a building wide repiping quote. Even after repeated requests, that quote took months to arrive and was double that of his competitor's bid ($297k vs $152k). Meanwhile, while we impatiently awaited that quote, his per apartment job pricing rapidly increased. By October 2019 we had spent over $80k and we had no choice but to find another plumbing firm. Again, the his workmanship was good but, if you require a long term relationship, you may need to look elsewhere. read more

Ernest and his son came yesterday to service my WATER HEATER UNIT which I had not had done since purchasing the house. YOu are supposed to have it done every 2 years or so! Both Ernest and the plumber under my home warranty were aghast that not only had I not had it serviced in YEARS but that there were no levers which are supposed to come with the installation of the unit. I chose Ernest who again, was prompt, efficient and VERY professional and EXCELLENT!! He does the work you ask him to do and then some: very conscientious and wants to make sure you are not only satisfied with his work but that if there are perhaps any related problems he will check for them, which in this case required going UNDER THE HOUSE to make sure I had no leaks. After many years of city living and dealing with lots of plumbers, Ernesto was far and away the best. On the night I moved into my new apartment, the pipe leading to the shower head broke clean off. Sweaty and tired from the move, I called Ernesto at 11pm. He said the repair would be quite noisy, and he'd be there first thing in the morning. Also, he gave me a price quote (which ended up being the actual price) right over the phone, before I even agreed to have him come out. He was totally honest throughout the entire experience. The next morning, Ernesto came a few minutes early. He took his shoes off when entering my apartment and went to check out the problem. When he needed to see the backside of the wall where the pipe was, we went over to my neighbor's apartment. Keeping in mind that my neighbor is 80-something-years-old and speaks only Russian, Ernesto was calm and kind as he explained (mostly through hand gestures) that he was going to be doing work and making a bit of noise next door. My neighbor was reassured, and so was I. Ernesto got to work, and not fifteen minutes later, I had a brand new pipe and working shower. He even installed the replacement shower head I bought. To top it off, he cleaned up completely after himself, leaving the bathroom tidier than it was before he arrived. Finally, he gave me his card and instructed me to have my building manager call him so that he could explain the situation -- basically, Ernesto would let them know that the pipe break wasn't my fault, as it was old, decaying, and in need of repair. This way, they would cover the cost, rather than having it come out of my pocket. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Ernesto is not only a great plumber, but more than likely he's an amazing human being. Kind, honest, and soft-spoken. I contacted AMPM and Ernesto came to my house after I had received a ridiculous estimate from GeorgeBrazil and kicked them to the curb. Ernesto is exactly what I needed. I have to report that I had a very poor experience with AM PM Plumbing and would never recommend anyone to use their services. I found Ernesto to be very dishonest in many respects. First, his estimate for work after inspecting a water leak in my unit was for $270 to punch through some drywall to locate the leak and $500-1000 to repair. He came and started punching holes in walls and located the leak exactly where he had thought it would be and doing the exact work he anticipated he would need to. But, here's the kicker... he almost doubled the charge to me saying it was $500 even though he quoted me $270 two days before. I argued with him but he would only reduce his bill to $470. On top of that his estimate of $500-$1000 was also a lie because he wanted to charge me $2,470 for the repair even though the leak was EXACTLY where he thought it would be. Ernesto and his helper also left halfway through the job for over two hours to "go get some supplies." When I called him later he told me he went to another job and would be back shortly. The supplies he came back with was a used roll of duct tape. At that point, I informed Ernesto that I might have to use someone else to do the repair. He said okay, packed his things, duct taped over a big hole he made in stucco on the outside of the building and left with my check for $470. Needless to say, duct tape doesnt stick to stucco so I have an exposed hole in my wall. I would not rely on his "20 years of experience." The only thing I would compliment him on is his quick response to phone calls (but he answers calls while working on jobs and apparently leaves to take other jobs). Ridiculous. read more

They were prompt, professional, fast, and got the job done at a great rate. I highly recommend them, and couldn't be happier with the experience. The plumber that came to our house was extremely friendly and efficient. We had to special order a part for our water heater, and he actually called us to check in on the delivery of the part so we could arrange the repair at a convenient time. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. We got their number off of the Better Business Bureau, and they have an A+ rating since 1996. I can see why. read more

Ernesto came and unblocked a toilet, and changed a fill valve and tube to give more flushing pressure. He have me a discount because I thought the price was a little expensive as it includes a "travel fee" and I am only a few minutes away so he wanted me to be happy. He charged me $150, about $35 for parts so $115 in labor. He was very professional, put on booties to not get the floor dirty, and cleaned up after making a tiny mess. He worked quickly and did a great job. Very happy and would use him again when needed. read more

My family has been using Ernesto's Plumbing service for over 15 years. Recently, we had a nasty emergency at around 9PM where water sarted seeping out of some old fixtures under the sink in the kitchen. We'd been meaning to get to that area for years but had spent our time on more pressing matters. With hope, we dialed AM PM and Ernesto picked up. He was nearby so offered to come right over. He was able to fix the problem immediately and quickly with parts he had on the truck but needed to come by the next day to make sure everything would hold. He surprised us the next day by replacing the ancient fixture with a used one for no extra cost. The truth is, when major water emergencies happen, Ernesto is you man. He doesn't mind working emergencies, he is very fair about price, he alerts you to what is about to blow next time or soon and if you use him exclusively, he does little preventive things as he sees them. He also takes the time to SHOW you what is wrong and explain why things need either a minor tweak or total replacement. If Ernesto can't safely fix something and leave with a clear conscience, he will tell you and that has saved us a lot of heartache over previous attempts as using handymen who jury-rug a minor problem which soon becomes a catastrophe. Another reason I trust Ernesto is past experience. We had a water heater EXPLODE on us a few years back. It was a big job and expensive. Ernesto came in on time and on budget, getting us a far more efficient unit and saving us from another day without hot water. We should have called him FIRST but we called this local Handyman who left us hanging for 2 days without hot water. We learned after this incident that calling Ernesto first will get you a fair price and nearly immediate service. If he can't be there right away or do a big job ASAP, he can usually give you a reasonable time frame of hours or less than a day. Overall, he's done about 10 major repairs for us. He's polite, professional, well-qualified and most importantly, his repairs have, to date, never needed any further attention. He's saved us from at least 2 floods of nearly biblical proportions and prevented some major failures just waiting to blow by pointing them out and scheduling a time-table of repairs according to budget. Call him! And remember, the time to call is before your in a flood.. providing you can. Floods don't bother him, so call him if you have a flood as well. :-) read more

Had a 911 issue happen at 5pm which was affecting my downstairs neighbor & needed to be handled ASAP. Most of the places I called were already closed or didn't return my call. I have been struggling to fix my bath tub drain on my own for a few days now. Each day I would try something different that I learned from youtube and each time I felt like I was making things worse. The price was reasonable. The project turned out to be much better than what I had expected. I was selling the house and the project needs to be finished really fast, Ernesto was able to install the main water pipe without cutting the existing concrete, where the old pipe is leaking. What is great about Ernesto is that he shows up quickly when you have an emergency. However, you will have to call him multiple times on the same problem... And he will charge you for each time he has to come. I had a drain issue a couple of months ago, and he had to come back 3 times to fix it. Today, the same problem has reared it's ugly head. I had a ceiling leak, originating from the roof. He not only fixed the leak, but swept my roof, producing two huge bags of debris. I then had another leak in my yard. While he was fixing that, he noticed an unusual pipe protruding from the side of my house. He offered to remove it, as it was discovered it was unnecessary, and potentially dangerous.
