This review is specifically for the large group of board and care homes, known as The Cottages, that ALZ OC owns and operates.
In early 2021, ALZ OC took over the board and care home in which my frail, medically fragile mother receives her dementia and hospice care. Unfortunately, my experience with them has been one of almost continuous frustration and disappointment. I have done absolutely everything I can to establish clear communication with the program administrators, and to accommodate their "growing pains," but after almost an entire year, it is my opinion that ALZ OC has proven to be incapable of managing this house with the safety and comfort of it's residents at the forefront, which is what families like mine pay them several thousand dollars a month to do.
Because of near constant staffing shortages and inconsistencies; documentation failures and errors; poorly managed behavioral issues with other residents, and sub-standard facility maintenance, I feel a responsibility to leave a review of my terrible experience with ALZ OC so that other families, who are already overwhelmed with the daily needs of their loved one with dementia, don't make their lives more difficult by looking to the current iteration of The Alzheimer's Association in Orange County for help.
I hope this review encourages the leadership of ALZ OC to overhaul the protocol and management of these homes, but it is my understanding that the organization continues to acquire new homes that they do not have the capacity to manage appropriately. It's disheartening that they would risk the reputation of a beloved charity like The Alzheimer's Association for what appears to be reckless, careless, profit driven market expansion. read more
